[News] Ravens React To Jets Quarterback Switch To Geno Smith

20 posts in this topic

Instead of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Baltimore’s defense will face fourth-year Jets quarterback Geno Smith, who was coached by Ravens Offensive Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg during his two years as a starter in 2013-14. The Ravens say they’re not changing their preparation much.

IF the Ravens lose to the Jets the bye week could get interesting. A never in doubt W is in order after 3 weeks of bad football.

How has making teams one-dimensional worked out so far? Teams don't need to run if there is no pass rush and they can go up and down the field passing. How does this team rank in passing defense is the obvious question? Look for the hurry-up offense and lots a passing from the Jets until the defense finds a way to stop it.

if we can limit the drive killing penalties on offense and the drive sustaining penalties on defense we should be OK. A few take-a-ways for us would sweeten the game.

The offense needs to find ways to keep the defense off the field as much as possible. Wearing down our defense week after week ends the same way each time.

We've actually "won" TOP pretty much every game.  If the defense is wearing down, it isn't the offense's fault.

That's gonna be tough with that jets Dline and blitzing coming after us. Marty better get ready for A LOT of max protection sets, otherwise we might all be holding our breaths a few times. Williams Wilkerson Richardson is by far the nastiest trio on an Dline in the NFL. And it's not even close

No bro, some games we've given up 13 drives. There's no way we should hand the ball back 13 times in one game. One game we punted 8 times and twice turned it over on downs.

This is one of those times where TOP is really misleading

It is the Offense fault and if Joe can't get it done it's time for a change! Blame everyone on this team but Joe and it gotta stop! The old Joe would have won those "Game winning drives" I don't know whom this Joe is but it's not the one that showed us a shotgun for a arm now we get under and over throws missed wide open WRs and so on!" Joe aka Tony Romo

To answer your "obvious question" the team's passing defense is ranked 9th in the league to date. 1st against the run and 3rd in overall team defense.

Agreed. Wilkerson is injured and DNP though.

You don't know who this Joe is? He's the Joe with the injured throwing shoulder, returning from season ending knee surgery. He's also the Joe who's been under constant pressure, hit and dropped virtually every pass play, and one who is starting to show his frustrations. That's who this Joe is.

Why does # of drives matter? What if their first 6 drives they didnt register a first down; while on ours we go down the field getting 1st after 1st chewing up the clock.

For half of the game their "drives" were 3 and outs or turnovers. 3 plays and maybe 1 minute of game time paints a lot more accurate picture than just the number of drives.

Time is time. It's not misleading. Most of the Giants drives were 3 and out, turnover, or big play TD. So, how exactly is it misleading?

When their first 6 drives don't register a punt. We should have the game in the books. But we keep giving the ball right back. Of course our opponents are gonna register big plays coz we keep giving them chances to get it right.

Its misleading because normally if you punt the ball 8 times you definitely lose TOP but our D was so great that we forced just as many punts. It's also misleading because we gave up scores on big plays here and there where normally it would take some time off the clock. TOP sometimes gives absolutely no indication on how the games really played out. That's all

i don't think any defense in this League could hold and opponent to 0 big plays if you give them 13 chances to make adjustments and take another swipe at our D. We have to sustain drives on O and on D we just need to eliminate a few big plays here and there.

Who gives a crap? Neither of these guys is Tom Brady or Ben Roethlisberger. They are both bad quarterbacks. If the Ravens can't beat them, it is all over.
