Joe Flacco did not practice 10/19-20/16 but did 10/21/16

Huh? Since Flacco has been here, we've spent two 1st round picks on LTs, drafted Gaither, Wagner, KO, signed Matt Birk and Zuttah, traded for Monroe. The year right before Flacco we drafted Yanda and Grubbs. Where do you guys come up with this stuff :/

Oher was a LT? lol ok.

Grubbs, KO, Birk, Gaither, and Oher are long gone. Gaither and Monroe were both gutless and shared the same spine.

You validated my point; they are replacing good early picks (KO and Grubbs) with 4th-6th rounders.

Are you saying Oher did not play LT for us? Was he not drafted as a LT, play LT as a rookie, and then switched between left and right throughout his time here? Or am I just imagining that.

Obviously those guys are gone, so what? Were they not brought in to address the OL, despite your claim to the contrary?

I validated your point how again? Because you seem to think there are not a ton of top notch OG drafted in mid-late rounds? Okay then...

Can't exclude McKinney and Oher in this context - without them there's no SB.

I did include Oher, one of the two 1st round LTs we drafted, but forgot all about party boat McKinney.

I'm confused...the 6th overall pick and a 4th round pick isn't addressing the o line?

Stanley and lewis will be big time additions to the line with yanda and Wagner. You have to allow some time for these things to take fruition.

How dare you use logic.

Oher was drafted to be out LT. Not the fo's fault he wasn't good enough

Gaither was a quick filler after ogdens retirement and mckinnie was a backup who overachieved for a SB then went back to being poo. Grubbs didn't deserve the coNtract over hands and we immediately replace him with ko who gets paid lt money now. Then we spend a 6th and a 4th on tackles, after repeatedly spending day 2 and 3 picks on linemen every year.

but right... We just ignore the position and want to field a failing line.

While 5 didn't practice today, both Stanley and Wagner returned. It'll be good to get our bookends back on the field. That should help Flacco stay clean this game. He sounds like the the injury isn't an issue at all and he'll play.

What overthrow? You mean when Joe went for the kill with the endzone shot and Wallace though he would play it safe so he stayed for the short pass?

That's a possibility... But unless Joe said that it's pure speculation. I thought that at first too but after rewatching it its really hard to tell. If that was the case the throw would've been more towards the endzone and not directly over his head. Again no way of knowing unless he was asked the question. Maybe he did and I missed it?

Yeah he'll be fine. The only issue it seemed to me was that sunflower seed on his lip. I just couldn't look away from it.

Gaither(Terp) was a pure beast until multiple injuries derailed him.

LOL, that was no sunflower seed. He was chewing gum the whole time he talked and licked his lips. We all know what that is and how come that's not listed on the injury report.

I thought it was a scab or something like that. A sunflower seed would have fallen off at some point while he was talking.

Kinda doubt it's what you think it is, probably just a busted lip. I remember one sack where he was getting up and his helmet/chin strap was all jacked up, chin strap across his mouth.  Could have happened there.

I don't think Joe was going for the kill, I just think he wanted to lead Wallace out of bounds because there was only 15 seconds on a running clock with no TOs. I think everyone wanted him to just hit Wallace in his hands(including Wallace) but with no TOs maybe Flacco thought the risk of him getting tackled was too much. It look like Wallace actually slowed up on the route to look for the ball just as Flacco the throwing to him instead of leading him. That's just a play where those guys weren't on the same page and those are the growing pains you have to deal with when players have to get chemistry with each other.

If I'm not mistaken Wallace just stopped and didn't even look back for the ball. Definitely not on the same page as Flacco.

If you think 2 rookies starting on the left side of a guy coming off an ACL is affirmation of addressing a glaring issue then i don't know what to tell you

Umm, ok i will bite; Oher "fell" because other teams ahead of the Ravens knew he was average at best, wasn't the brightest bulb and no way in hell a LT in the NFL.

Putting a quick filler as you put it in a supplemental pick, using patchwork castoffs from others teams and an UFA in Hurst at LT has worked real well huh?

Like I said 2 rookies starters on the left side of Joe after coming off an ACL tells the story but go ahead and argue and tell us how wonderfully their half butt strategy has worked out.

You almost have a point there. I don't mean that facetiously either; I do understand where you're coming from.

But, it would be disingenuous to not consider that one of those rookies is a highly touted 6th overall pick; a guy that a lot of people considered the best LT in the class. And he has played up to expectation so far. The other guy was considered one of the biggest steals of the draft. Lewis was regarded as a 2nd round talent by most experts.

Not to mention the obvious here -- LT was not a glaring issue when we drafted Stanley. We already had a starting LT, and planned on playing Stanley at LG this year. But it didn't take long for Stanley to run Monroe out of town.

So you're just going to ignore the fact that injuries, and an unexpected terrible start to the season by Zuttah, played a big role in all that?

I mean look, ever since we brought Flacco in, I've been saying that our team will only go as far as our OL allows us to go. And looking back, I think that assessment has been accurate. End of 2012, they started playing great....Flacco destroys the NFL and we win a SB. 2013 and this season, they have been god awful, and we saw what happened to the team because of it.

So believe me, nobody wants a great OL for this team more than I do. I'll repeat -- this team will only go as far as our OL allows us to go. Coming into the season, I was satisfied with what we did. Nobody can predict injuries, and nobody saw Zuttah doing a Gino Gradkowski impersonation.

I mean... what's the alternative? I guess we could have gone out and spent like $20M to buy the left side of our line, but haven't we already seen how that strategy plays out?

I'm much more interested in finding players who can protect Joe for the next 5+ years, not who can protect him for one season.

I rewatched again bc saw people kind of debating this, whether it was an overthrow on Joe or Wallace just stopping... And ive concluded imo that its on Joe.

He def wasnt throwing him into the end zone. The ball goes out of bounds 6-7 yards short of the goal line.

If Wallace runs, he runs right into coverage and the throw isnt open. The secondary made a mistake and gave him a 15-20 yd cushion. He took the yardage given and stopped. If joe hits him, he makes an easy catch inside the 10, takes one step out of bounds and we've got 2-3 shots at the endzone from an "and goal" situation.

Even with the space, by the time the ball gets there the defender is only 2-3 steps from Wallace. Had wallace actually continued running the route he's hit while catching the ball or the defender has a chance to make a play on it. I really cant find any reason to justify Joe throwing it where he did.... Imo its clear he just flat out missed Wallace.

I do think this shoulder issue could explain his inaccuracy down the stretch. Something seemed off that last drive.

And trust me, I'm one of Joe's biggest supporters. Whether bc of coming off injury, not having much time with his weapons, the make shift and porous OL, guys dropping passes, etc... he just hasnt been himself.

His footwork has digressed some, though i would attribute some of that to happy feet from knowing hes going to get hit any second. That's causing his accuracy on some of the shorter throws to decrease...

Good news is, i think once the OL gets healthy he'll be fine. Stanley and Wagner back for him is huge, and now that Zuttah is playing well once yanda is in there too we could see the OL go from swiss cheese to a strength.

I told my sister in the 4th quarter that Joe didn't look "right" and I thought he was hurt.

Joe Flacco and Ben Rothlisberger are both tough hombres. You would be hurt too if you were hit six times by a Giants team that was one of the worst in the league in terms of sacks. If Eugene Monroe had been half as tough as his QB, Joe would not have been injured last year and Monroe would still be our starting LT . Our O-line is average at best and woeful at worst. The front office deserves all of the credit for creating this patchwork, makeshift line to protect one of the premier QBs in the NFL. Whether or not Stanley becomes another Jon Ogden remains to be seen; the jury is still out. Time will tell. Until the O-line issues are resolved, Joe's skill set will be under-utilized and he will suffer more injuries as tough as he may be. Thanks, Oz!

That's the fundamental of which lots of people keep forgetting....

Great coach always say play your fundamentals....

Belichick's offense always look potent with or without Br*dy cuz he always has his fundamental in place: continuously strengthening offensive line....

Ozzie is just like Belichick and always strengthening O-line; if anyone thinks Ozzie didn't know the fundamental, why would he use our 1st round pick 4 in 1996 to draft Jonathan Ogden when lots of people would disagree with him at that time?....

PS: It just happened we have bad luck on the left side ever since Ogden retired.....Fat McKinnie possible took some Ogden magical bean in 2012 or something..lol

AND if "Ifs and buts were candy and nuts what a Merry Christmas it would be!" Its sad that some of you armchair QBs cannot see the forest for the trees. Its even sadder that the head coach can't see the forest for the trees. IF we had kicked a FG instead of going for it on 4th & 1 earlier, the overthrow, errant or intentional, would have stopped the clock and given Justin Tucker the opportunity to kick another game-winning FG. Instead, a coach desperate to win a game panicked and a huge swing in momentum occurred. At the end of the game, we did not have the option of scoring a FG or a TD. That's the difference! It was the head coach's fault, not Joe's or Mike's.

Well, again, assuming that everything else happens after it the same way.

This one's particularly flawed in that the Giants definitely don't play a prevent defense and allow us to complete any pass we want over the middle on the last drive when they don't have a 4 point lead. With a 1 point lead, much different style of defense is played, obviously. We actually would have to work to complete passes.

But as you already said, that's why the "IF" game doesn't work... on both sides of the argument.
