[News] Late For Work 10/19: Ravens Have Several Roster Decisions Ahead

If we can't beat a possibly Geno Smith-led Jets, then......

.....then it is as close to rock bottom as you can get. They were embarrassed on national tv and they have the perfect team coming in.
Embarrassed Team + Road Game= Ravens Loss

I didn't find our performance embarrassing...we played a close game. To me the teams that get embarrassed are the ones in blowouts...like 3 point scoring games ? But do the sports announcer go neg on them? No they make excuses why that's happening. But if we are down 4 points then here come the negs from announcers. Like "they managed to get 1 yard maybe 2 on the play."Then when the other team does the same thing they say "and another 2 yard gain!" Like one 2 yard gain (ours) is so insignificant but another teams is "wow 2 more yards". I'm amazed at this undercurrent among announcers. And no it's not Homerism, as I tried to give them benefit of doubt but they just keep doing it game after game.

The Ravens will make the post season and be healthy enough for a run at that Lombardi Trophy! But Joe gotta go "All the way up"! The Good The Bad and the Ugly and I'm still screaming WE THE BEST!

Listen... I am as unhappy with the way the past several weeks have unfolded as anyone. However.... this is not the end of the world. We are in all likelihood going to be tied for the division lead after Sunday. From there we control our own destiny. We knew that we had Flacco, Suggs, SSS, Pitta, and more coming off of serious injuries. We knew that at least one if not 2 rookies were going to stat on the OL.... we knew that Perriman has not played yet and was going to need a little time to get his feet under him. We knew that Dumervil had surgery just before the season.

We have not been blown out of any game yet (the sqeelers have 2x) and we have had our chances in every game. We just went through a coaching change in the OC and we should be starting to get our feet under us.

It sux when we self-inflict wounds knowing that we cannot afford to give anything away right now but we knew the beginning of the season that we would see a little bit of a learning curve.

IF we win this week. Beat the Ben-less sqeelers coming off of our bye (and we get healthy) and then the Browns on Thursday night... we are sitting at 6-3 and in pretty good shape.

By that time the rookies should be comfortable, that team should be more healthy and we should be more comfortable in our offensive identity.
The schedule gets tough down the stretch on paper but we have not faced horrible teams in the first six weeks either. WE beat the Bills who are 4-2 (and beat the Patriots). We should have beat the Raiders who are 4-2 and leading a strong division. We should have beat the 4-2 Deadskins. Blew a game vs the 3-3 NY Giants and then beat the browns (rivalry) and Jags (who is better then their record).

Lets jut get healthy and take care of business. Harbs is going to have to earn his money now! But I still like our team and our chances!

As long as the O-line (or, in the Ravens' case, the five guys who line up where the O-line has to) doesn't give our QB enough time for deep bombs, Mallett is about just as serviceable as Flacco. He can toss checkdowns and mid-range passes too - and he's less rattled than Flacco at the moment.

And, before anyone gets it wrong: it's not about Flacco... it's about our "O-line". With the one we currently have we could have Time Tebow under center and still be at 3-2.

Hey Jets. No need to worry. The Ravens will make sure that you look good. Every slumping that plays the Ravens suddenly come alive. So, it really won't matter who your QB is. We will not get to him. He'll have plenty of time in the pocket. On the other hand, your D line will definitely get to our QB, and our QB will make sure to throw for 50% and 0 TDs. Trust me, Jets...you're good.

"The Ravens are healthy and stout along the defensive line," Suggs is injured and Elvis D checked out LAST YEAR! I wish you guys would watch the same team.

You realize Suggs and Doom are linebackers right? We actually do have a very stout healthy D-line.

In a hybrid 3-4, they go from DE to OLB; so both of you are right.

Cleveland actually has a very good offensive line, they just can never select a QB that's capable of playing in the NFL...just saying...

This is why I have no respect for Baltimore Sports analyst opinions..
"By all accounts, Elam has progressed nicely in his rehab from summer knee surgery. With the team’s problems in the secondary and on special teams, Elam makes much more sense than Davis to return to the active roster,” wrote Zrebiec" The guy could not play HEALTHY.

apparently there's no such thing as improving or progressing to Ravens fans.

Eh, there's a lot of trolls on this site. Wadda ya gonna do...

AFC North is wide open for the taking. Squeelers without Big Ben, and really their defense wasn't all that great anyways. Bungles look to be self destructing in front of everyone's eyes. (and I'm sure there's a load of people out there who would want Burfect on the Raven's because he "plays hard"...and also plays as dirty as anyone who put on a Raiders uniform back in the 70's.) Brownies are the Brownies...so the division is there for the taking, just a matter of the Raven's getting their heads & hearts into playing winning football instead of the hesitant, penalty marred mess they've been putting out on the field so far this year.

Agreed.

If we win the next two, they'll jump back on the bandwagon. Fickle. :)

You can have the most explosive running back in NFL history, if you don't have an O-line that can create holes and running lanes for him...

But this line, banged up as it is, proved they can open up lanes for the running game when we commit to the run, and run out of any formation other than shotgun.

Trestman chose not to run, and Marty largely abandoned it after the first half last week.

I can't believe these writers are still writing about Elam. They act as if his return means anything. It doesn't. He sucks, plain and simple. Where are the Steadmans and Mike Prestons who are unafraid to tell the truth? It is refreshing to read their writings because when they spoke up, they had some credibility. All these rah rah so called journalists are nothing more than home team blather. While it is important to support your team, your job is to tell it like it is, not feed us a lot of baloney. An honest assessment would be a welcome change.

Hey SVP...you are right, but put this one in the bucket of what Harbs and the Ravens presented to the Competition committee before the season, as to defining "what is not reviewable" instead of what is reviewable. (Before it was taken off of the table) Make everything reviewable with exception to the proposed plays, and you have a better system. Again....you still only have 2/3 challenges per game, per team. So adding the number of "types" of plays that can be challenged, doesn't really impact the flow of the game. Unless you are adding certain calls to the "Turnover/Scoring plays" as reviewable content.

As stated by the commentators when the flag was thrown, we can't see what Cromartie's right are is doing immediately before the flag was thrown, so we can't see if his "interference" was a push off attempt that was well disguised, just before intercepting the ball. (I thought so, but I am biased) Anywho, the penalty was called, and the outcome of the game was not impacted....this time.

Mallett has a quicker release than Joe does as shown in last year's two games he played in.

To bring anyone back from IR, someone has to be released. If they decide to bring Elam back, please be it Kendrick Lewis that's let go. Please, please, pleeeaaasssse. They can then sit Webb, move Weddle back to free safety and have Elam play strong safety, which is his best position anyway.

Webb hasn't done anything this year to help this team with 1 pass defensed and a dozen or so tackles. He does absolutely nothing to back up the #2 cornerbacks and OBJ juked him out of his shoes on that last TD.

You just said "Mike Preston" and "credibility" in the same sentence...wow.

6 yards of rushing today and a sieve to protect Flacco. That isn't on Trestman
