Favorite prospects at each position

32 posts in this topic

Thought this would be a fun post. Just list your favorite players at their respected position. They dont have to be the best player just the one you like the most and would fit the ravens the best. Obviously we dont need kickers, or quarterbacks etc. With that said heres my list to start things off

Qb:(just cause) deshaun watson-i just love watching him play. Hope the browns are too dumb to pass on him. Hes a leader and a winner

Rb: dalvin cook-i believe hes the best rb in college. Explosive. Tough. Can break tackles better than you think and keeps those legs running in traffic. Shown this year so far he can be an every down back as well.

Wr-travis rudolph-this one was tough. I was torn between corey davis and mike williams as well but went with rudolph. I think hes very underrated. Shows good route running ability, always seems to ve open and is awesome after the catch. Great agility and has long arms. Good character too. Would really give us something we dont have in our recieving core. So would williams and davis too.

Cb:jourdan lewis- typically i like the bigger corners but this kid can flat out cover and thats what we need. We just need someone who can glue a wide reciever cause nobody on this roster can do that consistently enough. Shows hes not afraid of contact and thats something you always want to see with smaller corners

S: justin evans- not many know of him but i saw him vs ucla and he balled out. Can knock your lights out as he did to derrick henry TWICE last year. Has shown better coverage ability this year and we really need a replacement for webb.

Olb: derrick barnett- ive noticed not a lot of people are big on him but i love the kid. Emotional leader and has more bend and speed for a guy his size. Sets the edge extremely well. Most important, hes had consistent production throughout his career in the SEC

De: demarcus walker-leader, nonstop effort, and smart. Has had great production throughout his career. Probably has the best swim move in all of college football. Still looking into him but i love what ive seen from him so far.

Ilb: zach cunningham- like youve seen on this list another high production guy. Was first team all sec last year. Has speed and length to cover tight ends and is just a tackling machine. Gets off blocks extremely well with his long arms and finds ways through traffic to get to the ball carrier. Only negative is hes 6-4 230 so not very big , and has a tendency to tackle ball carriers from behind which causes him to miss a few from time to time. Have seen him try to arm tackle as well. Nothing that cant be fixed though.

I'm higher on Barnett after seeing the Florida game. He showed me what I needed to see from him so count me in the "waiting to see more" part.

Ya that play when he went right around the tackle without being touched really made my eyes pop.

Really have to be careful with that kind of play, more often than not it's the OT's fault for "forgetting" about the DE and trying to do something else. But I'll have to watch it again, don't remember it so I can't put a jugement immediatly.

Take a look at it and get back to me. Cause the olineman played him and barnett just went right by him

From what I've seen so far...

RB: Dalvin Cook, Florida State. I like Cook best of the RBs I've looked at (Fournette, McCaffrey, Chubb, Perine). I think he can do almost everything and I love his vision and explosiveness. I'm not really on a bandwagon for any RBs yet, though I'm sure I will be in a couple months.

OL: Ryan Ramczyk, Wisconsin. I think he's the best pure LT prospect in this class and based off my grading so far, there's a big dropoff from Ramczyk to Cam Robinson.

EDGE: Myles Garrett, Texas A&M. Probably in agreement with 99% of people, but I don't have that huge of a gap between him and Barnett. But I have a higher grade on him than anyone else I've looked at.

LB: Reuben Foster, Alabama. Probably going to get in trouble for saying this, but I think Foster is Mosley with more athleticism, but not as refined... yet.

DB: Chidobe Awuzie, Colorado. My biggest sleeper so far. I consider him a poor man's Jalen Ramsey and even though I've only watched a couple games of his, he's starting to be one of my favorite prospects in this draft.

Ok, now I have my laptop, so my turn. But before anything else, we're talking FAVOURITE, so I'm not naming the best prospect but the ones I had the most fun watching. Here goes:

WR: Mike Williams. Tough, tough call. In love with KD Cannon, but we already have burners. Really liked Juju, Kupp, Corey Davis, Ford (yes, changed my mind) and Rudolph. But Williams is a pleasure to watch, and if we get him in the 1st I'd be as ecstatic as can be. He really reminds me of AJ, he's so smooth despite his size. He's the prototypical WR1 and just is the guy you gladly trust to decide the outcome of a game.

RB: Wayne Gallman. I want to precise I don't particularly Clemson lol. And also the best RB is Dalvin Cook, period. But Gallman is the perfect workhorse, he's agressive and hits the hole so quickly. He's a hard runner, always keeps his feet moving, and you can see how much he tires the defense.

TE: Bucky Hodges. BaltimoreBird does well promoting him, he's a specimen. And he really blocks well, which is not something I expected from such a physical receiving freak. Also watch out for Jeremy Sprinkle, you read it here first.

DL: Caleb Brantley. Here comes the <3 definitely one of my favourite prospects so far. He's quick, strong and has great technique and IQ. He's typically a good football player who's gonna fall because he's not flashy enough, like Bullard before him. And I want us to be the team who benefits it, because him and Timmy will make the other teams regret it.

EDGE: Let's go with Dawuane Smoot. This class is really loaded with talent, but Smoot is the guy who gave me the best time. He just makes something happen on every play. Screw the sack, you want to rush the passer? You know who to call, he's the complete package.

S: Budda Baker. Again, favourite. He's smaller than Adams, but has a huge range, great agressivity, IQ, and versatility. Hhe's flying under the radar, but I don't see why. Don't expect it to last until May.

CB: Jourdan Lewis. OBJ, Coleman, Crabtree. Those are the WR that hurt us this year. Now if you still think height is the problem, you weren't following. Lewis can flat out cover and when the ball comes to him he's a baller.

You def got the idea of what this topic is for. Nicely done. I agree on mike williams. He really is a joy to watch and would be a major boon for our offense. Especially in the redzone where we struggle to put up 6

Favorite CB: Marlon Humphrey-Dude is just a beast. He's Jimmy Smith size with track star speed, sticky I'm coverage and has a knack for delivering a hard tackle. Now if only he would turn his head.

I'm not doing every position, both because it'd probably be too long and I haven't looked too hard into some positions yet.

RB - Nick Chubb - He's not a great receiver but I love his power and vision.

WR - Corey Davis - I think this guy can be great, he's got the physical tools and he produces like crazy at Western Michigan, I think he'll translate well to the next level

OC - Pat Elflein - I am not a fan of this years center class at all, Elflein is the only one that jumps out to me at the moment, though I think he's still going higher than I'd be willing to go

DE - Myles Garrett...'s running buddy Daeshon Hall - of course everyone loves Garrett but I also like the guy on the other side, he's a great pass rusher and has great size. I'm not psyched about adding another developmental guy but I think if he gets the right coaching staff and is developed right then I think we will be hearing his name in a couple years.

ILB - Shaan Washington - another guy from Texas A&M, this is more of a guy to look out for. Dealt with injuries his career there but he's definitely got NFL size (6'3" 240) and he's got NFL athleticism, and I've seen flashes of instincts when he's healthy. He's not going high but I think he could be a steal later on if he's there.

CB - Des Lawrence - I could go with multiple guys here but I'm sure others will name them so I'll go with an under the radar guy. I think this guy is underrated, he's got the size and he has impeccable technique, he's also a sure tackler out of the edges which I love.

S - Jamal Adams - love this guy, he's definitely worthy of where he's going to be drafted high in the first.

Myles Garrett for every position he's that good!

On a serious note, Garrett is by far my favorite player in this entire draft class and probably the 2016 class, too. I love what this guy brings to football. He's the Queen if we were playing chess because he impacts the whole game. Obviously he's my favorite pass rusher.

CB: Adoree Jackson from USC is surprisingly my favorite CB this year but narrowly. If not Jackson then it's Quincy Wilson for sure. Both of these guys look outstanding to me. Granted, I've yet to replay games and study then specifically, but the eye test in games tells me these are my top dogs right now.

DB: Desmond King. I see him as a true DB who can play safety to get interceptions and a dime or nickel CB, or even outside in off-man coverage. I love this guy.

DL: Jonathan Allen. Not sure where to classify him but yep.

OL: G Quenton Nelson, C Pat Elfein.

WR: Malachi Dupre

RB: Dalvin Cook, followed closely by Christian McCaffrey.

TE: OJ Howard to nobody's surprise. Jake Butt and Bucky Hodges's are real close, though.

ILB: Zach Cunningham

QB: Mitch Trubisky

Out all those guys, Myles Garrett, Quincy Nelson,  Desmond King, and Quenton Nelson  are my favorite. I really think if it comes down to us picking in the teens, then It would be between Quincy Nelson and Quenton Nelson with Quincy getting the nod with the big need at QB. I think Quenton has a good shot at landing here but I thats under the assumption we don't sign an OG.

A lot of people are sleeping on him. Outside of the game against VT (a game that shouldn't have been played) he has had a great season.

Drafttek just recently had him going to us at 14. I know its way too early but its still exciting to think about lol

I'm glad to see someone else getting on board.

I'm really hyped for Hodges and Ford because it's the first time that Tech has had a day one or two offensive skill player since 2008 with Eddie Royal.

Hodges is a flat out freak. He was really handicapped in Loeffler's (sp?) offense, but he's one of the ones where numbers don't tell the entire story.

He's just never covered with his size and speed. Just put it up and give him a chance to make a play on the ball because with that size and leaping ability, he's got a really good chance to go get it.

It sucks because I doubt the Ravens take him (I think Ford could be a sleeper pick), but I think he'll be a dynamic chess piece for what ever team takes him.

Matt Miller has him in his top 15. He's really good. Just an accurate passer without fear.

I have to wonder if he overtakes Kaaya because Kaaya has NEVER had a game winning drive or a comeback drive. Not once.

I think teams will begin to reverse their positions on how they feel about drafting running backs with the success of Todd Gurley and of course Ezekiel Elliot who have just done so much for their teams. Gurley has forced teams to consistently stack 8 in the box and Elliot aside from Dak Prescott has been the biggest reason for the Cowboys 5-1 season start. I was against Elliot myself at the start but he would have totally been worth it at 6. I think Fornette has a really good chance of good top ten if he stays healthy, produces at a high level and knocks out the combine. I would say he's a lock in that situation and could go as early as 5.

I'm not sure Fournette would fit a ZBS.

I'm starting to think the WR is a bigger need than pass rusher, our offense has been pitiful all season, defense is #1 in run stuffing and has the sencond best secondary according to PFF.

WR is definitely up there but pass rusher is just more important.

Yeah. There's a lot to like with Mitch. He's so accurate but he can throw it deep and I like that about him. I definitely think he deserves top 15

I still haven't began studying prospects but Jonathan Allen is my favorite player after Garrett. He's a scheme and position diverse 3 down defender. Reminds me a bit of Moe Wilks but more versatile. He is a 34DE, 43DE, 43DT, he may even be able to play some olb and if we wanted to field a pass rushing 34 unit he could be a NT as well. He's refined, a bully at the PoA, he penetrates, holds ground, diagnoses and anticipates, has a great get off, great pursuit, and great vision, and he finishes plays whether he starts it or he cleans up for someone else.

I love Allen and have since last year while I was scouting Robinson and Reed. He was clearly the best Alabama DL on the field to me. I even said it back then. Allen is so versatile and smooth and carries his weight so well I think he could drop some pounds and transition to OLB/DE just like McPhee did for us. In fact, I see Allen as a true McPhee replacement and even upgrade. I think Allen could be better than McPhee and that he could be that guy people talk about all the time.

Myles Garrett is my overall favorite prospect regardless of position.

DE - J.Allen this guy just leaps off the screen during games, and it doesn't matter if it's passing or run game he is effective!

RB (tie)Fournette/D.Cook  Fournette is a beast, I could easily see him carrying an inept offense like Jamal Lewis did with us. D.Cook is too good to not be mentioned, he is special period!

WR - Travin Dural he is not the best WR prospect but he's been a favorite of mine for quite some time.

TE - VT Hodges guy is huge, lines up all over the place, he's not getting the hype like Jake Butt and OJ Howard.

CB - (homer pick) Miami Corn Elder this kid has played very well all year, he converted from RB, but he has had solid coverage playing man to man often. He's played well versus T.Rudolph, I.Ford.  Elder might end up being nothing more than a 4th rounder. But reminds me of when Sam Shields was a little used WR then converted to CB, played well really developed in NFL.
