[News] John Harbaugh Confident Ravens Can Fix Mistakes And Start Winning Again

42 posts in this topic

Harbaugh says "easily correctable." Let's get on with it, then. Prove it.

One commenter (Fastynart) referred to beating the Jets soundly. That would be nice, I say. And pleasantly shocking. Can we beat anybody soundly?

I would sure like to see, as every Raven fan would, marked improvement in the red zone. But until then, take every FG that presents itself that we can. We have the best dang FG kicker in the NFL. Stop the penalties that put us out of FG range. And do not go for it on 4th down in the red zone, unless time is running out and we need a TD (God help us in that scenario). But I don't care if it is 4th and a sixteenth of an inch and goal on the 5. Kick It! Stop chasing points every game. We do not have a consistent enough offense to be throwing away a sure 3 points.

Correction - In my exuberance to amplify the futility of our red zone offense, I described an impossibility - "4th and a sixteenth of an inch and goal on the 5." Make that a sixteenth of an inch for a TD. You know what I mean. Unprecedented red zone frustration occurred against the Giants with 1st and goal at the 3 and coming away with 0 points.

If they want to fix any problems, they need to start with Joe's head. You can easily tell in his body language and when he speaks that frustration and despair are setting in. The lack of protection, the penalties, the dropped passes, the hurried throws and constant hits to his body are all beginning to affect his psyche. Maybe they should look for some professional help for him before he loses all his confidence in himself and the team.

I agree that some kind of attention to the emotional aspect needs to be addressed. It could have been overall fatigue and frustration setting in at end of game. This is the second game I've seen him look that way. I'd say def address it and hopefully they are. I think positive reenforcement is so much better than focusing on negs and I'd expect teams and coaches to embrace this approach because it works. But it's just game after game things start to set in...so get something upbeat going for the team...I wish fans would also be more upbeat but I think they forget players are human like them.

I'm acquiring the same mentality and body language as the team. Getting ready for close to rock bottom come Sunday approx. 4:00.

Harbaugh is close to losing this team, if he has not already. The game against the Jets will tell the story.

I watched the jets on Monday it's no way we lose to Fitzpatrick.

This team for the last few years hardly beat anyone how can you say that? How many back up QB look like the second coming of Joe Montana?

Couple of things here:

1) Geno Smith is being named the starter for the Jets. Not that I consider him much better of a replacement than Fitzpatrick, but Geno can run around a bit and avoid a pass rush...if we could mount one. This would buy time for his receivers to get open against our beat up secondary.

2) I don't think the idea going into the season was for Joe to be throwing the ball 40-50+ times a game. We've had nearly no running game thanks to a questionable offensive line and penalties backing us up and getting us out of running downs. Even when he makes a completion the O-Line is not keeping him clean. Those last couple of throws he had that got away I think was because he was actually hurt. He took a few hard shots before his last series and on one of them he was a little slow to get up.

Correcting the penalties would help quite a bit, but getting that O-Line up to speed and running the ball down the throats of our opponents would cure a lot of ails.

Josh McCown for over 400 yards, nearly twice. If he didn't get knocked out of the second game he would have put up close to the same numbers because he was torching us up until that point.

You should try to walk through the door without opening it first three times in a row. Obviously it won't work and because you are desperate to get to an appointment you have to try the same exact thing a fourth time. Fail horribly and then just shrug.

Put the time in to develop your  football iq and  perform. People don't care about the story, they want to see the result. After all it is just a ball game..
