[News] Late For Work 10/18: Joe Flacco Playing 'Average;' Potential Return Of Former Ravens Reciever

104 posts in this topic

Love coming to these articles and seeing all the geniuses who know exactly the one thing this team needs to do to win!

Keep on posting - I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the NFL teams realize all the GM and Coaching help they need can be found right here on this forum!

IT's NOT one thing! It's a myriad. And yes, there are many here who know what they are talking about. And then there are some, who just can't tolerate anyone with an opinion other than their own.

when you bring in retreads like Campanaro and Jackson it shows that this team is headed no where. Its early but i believe the question is whether Harbs will last the whole year. Gm Newsome also should be on shaky ground.

Um, yeah...Camp only left due to injury, not because his playing was bad.

My biggest complaint with Joe was the final drive. We're suppose to be in a hurry up offense and if that was "hurry up" then we are in big trouble. There was no sense of urgency and how do you have a delay of game called in the waning minutes of a winnable game. That's 30 seconds wasted, 30 damn seconds off the clock. I've never seen a more lethargic display of offense with time running out in my life.

The clock wasn't running and I think they did it on purpose so they didn't have to take a time out.

On delay of game ... they didn't have any timeouts left to take. I think the bigger issue was QB and receiver just weren't connecting on any passes launched. So it wasn't a time management so much imo as inability to complete the downs effectively as they certainly had time and were in the range of endzone.

Remember that long pass early in the game, to Perriman? That was a jump ball, in double coverage, to a guy he has not shown he's got good hands. Also, on that same play, Wallace was WIDE OPEN on the opposite side. If Flacco actually saw that, it would've been 6. But remember, it's Flacco. He doesn't see much at all.

Was he though? Half this fan base thinks Aiken was wide open too, if he was open before the ball was thrown than I agree it was all Flacco and I'm mad as he missed some opportunities in this game albeit he had no time on that throw with people in his face.

If our O line plays better so will our offense, it's that simple. If we can get Flacco the protection that Carr and Dalton get we will have a very good offense.

Yeah...by far THE BEST Flacco throw of the game and fans are complaining it could have been done better * smh *. Well, gamepass has slow motion replay feature...and basically saw this...33 was rushing Flacco 'just' as Wallace passed across defenders and got open on the right but it happened 'as' NOT before Flacco was forced the release the ball or take a sack (and he took a hit for that play regardless)...clearly he'd already committed to throw to Perriman at that point and no TIME to adjust...a beautiful play.

After re-watching it, you are right, the clock wasn't running, I was wrong about that. I was right about the delay of game. The clock was stopped with 0:07 left and they had already taken their final time out. There was no reason for a delay of game there.

You are comparing Flacco to Rodgers ? Um, Lets see, Rodgers makes most of his plays outside of the pocket, extends plays and has pretty reliable aim. Flacco on the other hand is getting a lot like Boller in that i mean he has been hit so many times he almost frets to get rid of the ball and his accuracy is taking a hit because of that. Wait, that is no excuse, Rodgers led the league in taking hits for a few years straight. Please do not compare Flacco to Rodgers, not even on the same level.

Rodgers?  LOL!  I guess you didn't watch his game this week where his own fans boo'd him off the field.  Better find a better example.

True. Rogers had a great run for a few + years, but he has fallen off alot going back 2 seasons now.

That one right there! That puts things into perspective. That is the no 1 reason we have been average at best after our SB season. Not injuries, not penalties, not coaching. But because our franchise players are getting old, losing their edge and retiring and we can't find new, young difference makers, play makers from the draft (with few bright exceptions on D like Mosley, Williams, Jernigan, but even those guys have been inconsistent at times).

Oz might be a wizard, but a cursed one if that, because all of his great value, high ceiling picks seem not to live up to their advertised high potential, perform below par or not even make it to the field at all. And this has been the story for at least 3 drafts now.

If many of our young guys don't somehow start performing like superstars all of a sudden, then we are probably in for a handful of dark seasons.

Pretty sure about 26 teams in the league could use OBJ, not every team has those kind of players

Flacco's technique is getting worse. He seems to be throwing off his back foot more and more which effects accuracy, arm strength and arm health.

That's beside the point. I'm sure most of these 26 teams have young play-makers at other position than WR.

My point is, for some reason most of our last draft picks have not developed into the studs they were believed to become. That has led to a situation, where we do not have new young franchise players and difference makers (outside of Mosley and B. Williams maybe) and we are left with aging veterans and FA acquisitions to carry this team. Many of whom (Doom, SSS, even Suggs maybe) will probably be retiring after another injury riddled losing season. Hopefully we can still salvage this year, give those guys motivation to keep going for another year or two and in the meanwhile groom our young guns into solid starters and next team leaders. Otherwise we'll be in for some dark times.

Its not really beside the point though, almost every single team can say, "wish we had a guy like OBJ".  Im in the mindsight of having numerous talented guys rather than one superstar, like our SB team.  But I do agree we haven't brought in huge game changers.  Most of us want to see BP turn into that guy but some have already wrote him off, Wallace is that guy at the moment, but hes not, nor hardly anyone on the level of OBJ, that's all im saying.  You could go through most of the NFL teams and point out who doesn't have a playmaker.
