Joe has been average, at best. But even worse is Webb who has the second highest salary on the club. When you compare the percentage of the salary cap these two get, combined, to their production it's easy to see why the team is in decline.

Thank you LFW! For calling a spade a spade finally. This year Joe has been one of the reasons we are terrible. I am a believer in his talent, but for some reason he's unable it seems to me to make the leap from physical attributes of a great QB to the mental attributes of a great QB only in terms of deciphering the game, extending plays and finding the accuracy to hit receivers even when marginally open. That has been exasperated by poor game planning by coaches and poor play and drops by receivers. However, if Joe played like we all thought he is capable of (he is a 9yr veteran!), we would be 6-0 right now. The way he and the offense is playing I don't see us beating a team that has a winning record moving forward. Something needs to give for us to get back to the playoffs. Although I can't put a finger on it, the status quo vis-a-vis players, coaches and front office may not be acceptable.

Unfortunately for those two this season, the famous 80-20 rule isn't applicable. Which is get 80% production at 20% cost. Its almost like 20-180 with these two for the first 6 games at least. I am still hopeful that Joe will break out of his stupor but Webb I think is finished.

"Consider that Beckham had 211 yards receiving in the second half Sunday. … Ravens wide receiver Breshad Perriman has 172 yards receiving the entire season."

That one right there! That puts things into perspective. That is the no 1 reason we have been average at best after our SB season. Not injuries, not penalties, not coaching. But because our franchise players are getting old, losing their edge and retiring and we can't find new, young difference makers, play makers from the draft (with few bright exceptions on D like Mosley, Williams, Jernigan, but even those guys have been inconsistent at times).

Oz might be a wizard, but a cursed one if that, because all of his great value, high ceiling picks seem not to live up to their advertised high potential, perform below par or not even make it to the field at all. And this has been the story for at least 3 drafts now.

If many of our young guys don't somehow start performing like superstars all of a sudden, then we are probably in for a handful of dark seasons.

I have always been a big supporter of Joe, blaming the O-line for many of his problems. At this point, however, I have to beign wondering if he is more of the problem than the solution. In virtually every game Joe has had the chance to win it for us and this week was no exception. Missing a wide open Wallace with no pressure was brutal example of accuracy issues that go beyond o-line performance. Football games are won and lost in an instant and that was our instant. Sure we had way too many penalties and we were terrible against Beckham, but in the end, we had a chance and Joe flat out missed him by 5 feet, sailing a pass over the head of a wide open Wallace. Why? Lack of confidence? Ailing knee? I don't know, but if he doesn't get it fixed in the next week or so we will be watching again in January and looking at a top ten pick in April.

I wouldn't make such a big deal out of Beckham. Let's see how he does in future games. He was in a slump...suddenly one game and he is superman lol. We'll see ? I'm not going to wish we could be like so-and-so. I'd rather see our players step up and bring their talent. They have actually. Just not consistently. I think it's sad theres this looking at other teams as if they got something we 'don't got.' Like envy or wishful thinking. Anyone think Giants will go to SB? Then if not why wish we had Beckham? It takes overall team excellence to make it far, not 'this guy, why can't we be like him?' GMAB

Horrific overthrowing of open receivers aside, I'm hoping this game was the wake-up call the team needed to get that offense working so they can beat down the Jets next week. And it's not like Flacco can't get passes to receivers and tight ends, so.....here's to getting cleaned up.

Fun fact: Mike Wallace, SSS and Pitta are the top 3 with receiving yards on the team with 370, 310 and 295 yards respectively. Pitta is also 10th in the league in terms of receptions.

True. Other than Mosley and Branden Williams who has really had any type of impact? Jernigan shows up every fourth game or so. Stanley looks like a player. What happened to all of those "Great picks" in this years draft? When KC can't sniff the field when we are this banged up does not bode well for a #2 pick that the pundits and Ravens front office were chirping about. Why do I get the feeling KC is another Arthur Brown?

Back to the Meadowlands to face a team that was embarrassed last night on national tv. They have the perfect team coming in to make amends.

To have a day like Beckham you have to have the lousy coverage of the Ravens and the lousy defensive calls of Pees and since we don't ever play ourselves, that's hard to do. And if you consider our QB and the lousy defensive teams we have played, we still couldn't come up with a serious passing game. So if we want a receiver like Beckham we have to get a different QB and find another team who doesn't double team the best receiver in the league on a fourth and 1 with the game on the line.

It doesn't look like that will happen so get used to what you have. We have the best receivers we have had in years and Flacco couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, I am not even sure at this point if he even sees the barn to hit it, he is so inaccurate. The last game he just straight up quit on the team. When the defense gave up the last TD, you could tell when he came out he wasn't putting his all into it. From rushing to the line, to missing open receivers, to delay of game penalties, he wasn't into the game, wasn't trying, wasn't putting any more effort into it than was required to snap the ball.

Good to know those facts. All 3 of these players have had impact. So has Perriman it's just with him he's 50/50 ... half time he makes great plays other half it's incomplete. So waiting to see him improve on that, but the play he made first quarter last game in the first drive was very impressive...went up (very high) for catch came halfway down to be hit from both sides by two defenders yet held onto ball and stayed in bounds...not bad, ...not bad at all.

If we're being honest, "Average" would be an improvement. That overthrow of Mike Wallace was almost unforgivable. Not to mention Joe wasted a ton of time passing over the middle of the field instead of working the sideline. I very seldom feel confident when there is a game deciding drive and our offense is on the field, because it seems like Joe is just trying to throw bombs down the field instead of wearing down the defense.

We don't need a playmaker like OBJ, we need a secondary that's able to prevent players like him to make such plays. Other than Weddle and Smith, we have no one back there who's even remotely capable of covering someone.

Sure, Joe has not looked good this year. However anyone blaming him is out of their mind. All these stats based articles are a great way to disprove why stats alone are terrible indicators.

It's the O-line which wasn't very good to start with (two rookies starting on the left which is INSANE) and is now in shambles, the center being the stable piece who was the worst performing member of the starting line. This leads to Joe getting hit or running for his life. No wonder his is anxious to throw, the same thing happens when Rogers or Brady or anyone does not have a good line and is getting hit constantly. Plus the new RB core is worse at protection now and is untrustworthy.

Also, Flacco has consistently delivered good balls and the receivers drop them. Perriman, Morre and Wallace are all guilty of dropping easy catches and game winning catches, mostly on buddy pass like balls. You can't win if you deliver the perfect pass on the perfectly called play and the receiver drops it.

Flacco still had the team in position and drove them down the field with a chance to win, again.

Also, he wasn't the one who called on him to throw it 48 times this past game, he can only do what he is told, which is exactly what he does.

Also, Flacco is not responsible for 200+ yards and 2 TD to OBJ with the stupid coverage that Pees dials up.

No one wants to say it but this game was lost due to injuries. 3 starting O Linemen out, our most sure handed SSS is out, on the Defense CJ Mosley out, Jimmy Smith went out (OBJ was nothing until Jimmy went down), and then two more corners were lost. Now Suggs is gone, remember last year when Suggs was lost? How did that go. We can't replace Yanda, Stanley, Suggs or Jimmy, no one on the roster can do that.

The only wonder people should be thinking is how on Earth did Joe keep us in that game until the final drive. This is what elite players do, they give you the chance to win every time, they don't guarantee it every time.

Joe has been so rattled by a bad line that he literally lacks confidence on the field. You can just see it. He also keeps doing his throw off the back foot garbage. In the above clip, despite a defender coming, he had two targets and a LB in coverage, toss that ball right to Pitta! Ugh

Let it be known, if we lose to the Jets, the season is over and we might as well start opening up draft 2017 talks.

If we can't make the playoffs, I would prefer we don't win again this season.

I'm sick of everyone complaining about the drafting who point out the the success of the players we have who were picked when we had high round picks (worse years) and the lack of ability when we have low round years (went far in the playoffs).

I have been a staunch supporter of Flacco...until this year. He seems absolutely uninterested in playing football. No sense of urgency, other than get rid of the ball so I don't get hit! He got paid, so he's done. What incentive is there for him now? Getting tired of hearing how other players need to step up. What about Flacco stepping up? If he isn't going to throw an accurate ball, then how the heck are the receivers supposed to step up?? Afraid to say it's time for a change. We had they guy for that change in Josh Johnson, but instead we chose Mallet. Not much of an upgrade!

I think we do lack big play makers on offense SSS is our biggest and he is almost 40 years old. Outside of him the rest of the offense is solid but not superstars..... one thing that could help us make the big plays that are being made against us is: ... Trade Dean Pees to whatever team are playing against. We will get more big plays and he ensure that we get that big play at the end of the game that wins the game for us!

I think the issue with Joe has to do with him being put in the Shotgun for the majority of his snaps. Compare that with the offense under Kubiak, where he was under center far more often and was more successful. Not only did it provide the threat of a running game to open up play action and keep pass rushers honest, it allowed the Ravens to roll protection or have Joe bootleg to buy time against a pass rush. It also helped Joe's mechanics, making it less likely that he'd throw flat-footed / off of his back foot.

Against the Giants, he was under center for the first quarter and a half, then went predominantly to the shotgun after that. The results were predictable.

Even with Flacco's odd throwing, the game still could've been won if the D held OBJ in check. That statistic showing how little he did when Jimmy was on the field vs. out of the game was jarring. One well-executed tackle could've stopped him from skulldragging the secondary, or at least minimizing the damage.

Then again, locking up a multi-Pro Bowl receiver is a tall order for anyone. Even last year vs. the Panthers, Josh Norman cut down on his yardage but he still found the endzone.

See, this is what the stats articles don't factor in. You see it in all QB, every single one of them, when they have a terrible line and they are constantly getting hit and pressured. Plus the change in OC which was needed, makes it so that only some of the playbook can be changed so they have to work with the Trestman plays which are not schemed up to have tons of stuff we need (max protection for deep routes, running plays that come out of different looks, etc...). You can't just expect MM to change everything on a dime, and redesign the entire playbook and everyone to memorize it immediately, I think at best we can hope for is increasingly new plays being inserted as we go. Its a bear of a situation to be in. Still Buffalo seems to be working it out in a good fashion, but their D is better (not just in stats, but what counts = wins).
