I don't understand our fan base anymore: Y'all love Kyle Boller, but y'all not patient with other talent on this team?!?!

Before I even thought about posting on a forum like this in 2003....back when I was in high school Kyle Boller tripping over his own feet was a huge problem. The man couldn't even drop back properly and used to hold onto the ball too long with little pocket awareness...that's instant bust material!  Kyle Boller's best game was against the pats in 2007! yet people wanted him in 2008 with a poor track record!

Over the last couple years...once you jump on this forum people write off a player in a rookie season even though they have more bright spots that Boller!!! What happened to this fan base on the radio/tv and on this forums?!?! The entitlement of the fans is not Ravens like at all!!! I joined this board in 2008 cause we were 2-3 and I was 500miles away from B-more due to college and needed a place that was pro ravens and saw the value in our team no matter who lined up....though I wanted a vet QB to lead us, but I was glad Flacco had signs of poise that Boller never had! Now everyone sounds like Skip Bayless and Screamin A. Smith, constantly....but don't even get paid to speak in such a manner, lol.

I miss the old fan base that used to complain about the lack of prime time football games and used to complain about the lack of respect from ESPN. This new fan base is scared of prime time games and has deadskins entitlement over instant success....I'm not feeling this change in us!

I think some fans are immature about football and common sense; it doesn't really apply much to the age but the actual maturity of the person.

It's reasonable to say when we lose, you will see a lot of no names keep posting firing this and that and spraying countless complaints. It isn't pretty scene after the loss and some team forum are much worst than this cuz they don't have admin to filter out the profanities and attacks.

It's better to complain after Monday and when things are calm down.....

PS: Haters have no schedule so they will complain rain or shine....

Spoiled, I tell ya. Spoiled rotten.

Sure, we suck right now, but guess what? This is the NFL in the parity Era. So does pretty much everybody else. We have as much chance to turn it around and catch fire as anyone.

From some of the comments some of these posters you talk about make,  it seems as if they have jumped on recently and didn't go through the tough years.

I've seen a lot of people declare they're "out," so if that's actually the case, things should get a little better. A lot of people are here for a lot of different reasons. I'm not sure if this team ever picked up any bandwagon fans, but I am surprised by how many people are fair weather on here.

Changes are coming. The team (the offense) is getting booed off the field now AT HOME. If the offense doesn't produce and we keep losing this will get worse I'm afraid. I remember years ago this happened when Boller was the QB. The offense was getting booed off the field all the time and the fans cheered when Boller got hurt. Things are headed in this direction again - it feels the same. I don't remember fans loving Boller. They couldn't stand Boller.

That was a low point in Ravens fan history. I am ashamed of the fans on that day.

Boiler did and still does have fans in Baltimore.  I am one of them.

Never knew fans cheered when Boller was injured. In Bollers defense he did not have much help. His WR's were not quality and the OC was awful. When Mason arrived his numbers were as good with Boller as anybody else. Not saying he would be good with the right system and weapons. But he didn't have the opportunity.

So true. This place is somewhat more rational than some other forums, but we added a lot of fans in the 2011-2012 seasons, who clearly weren't around when things were really bad.

People complain about Jimmy, or Wright, but do they remember Frank Walker? People complain about Flacco, but were they here when our coveted QB was actually a bust? People complain about our offense still, but do they remember when the D was tasked with actually having to win our games? In hindsight, while I do miss the defensive dominance, I still think we're a better team when balanced. We're not great this year, and we haven't been great since 2012, but we weren't great (for a long stretch) then either. Not until it mattered most.

This can be explained pretty simply there, RedFire: we've simply become a better team since 2008.  I'm not quite sure if you've noticed, but most of our time in the past 9 years has been spent in the playoffs, year after year, more often than not.

It's not, 'entitled,' to expect your mostly successful team continue to be successful and lament when they exhibit signs of reversing that trend.  We've seen rookies come in here and be highly successful from jump; Torrey springs to mind immediately.  Guy comes in, looks shaky in the first game and then goes off on Pitt in the second game and never looks back.  Is it unfair of a fanbase to ask for similar results moving forward?  I suppose that really cannot be answered definitively but personally I have high expectations for this team and every member on it from the water boy on up.

For anyone to post a message like this now?  When the entire team looks to be in shambles and are just not performing up to the level of my local pee wee football team?  Inconceivable.  If we were winning some tight games and say Perriman is looking shaky and a bunch of posts come about complaining about him and stuff, I could see a thread like this.  Right now though?  I think our fanbase has every right to complain about whomever we want to because this team as a whole is looking and playing like hot garbage.

EDIT: Yes, I remember Frank Walker.  I remember Boller.  I remember Demetrius and Clayton and every other terrible player we've had here.  What does that have to do with today's roster?  Nothing.  I have not forgotten those teams and yet those teams have zero to do with today's Ravens who again: are playing awfully and deserve every bit of derision for their performance.

Yes, the fans have every right to complain.  I don't think "complaints" are an issue for anyone.  I think we have a few posters who incessantly trash the team, the coaches, and/or the front office.  Those people simply need to be ignored.  The more they get fed, the more outrageous their posts get.  As the old saying goes: never argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell which of you is which.

I'm with you.  I loved Boller.  He might not have been a good QB, but the man went out there every game, no matter the circumstances, and played his heart out.  Still believe Billick ruined him.

Not going to be that different. There's several people on this team (namely our QB) who quite simply can't be fired.

There's several players on this team that we are committed to for the long term, regardless of whether the fans like it or not. Its on the fans to get on board, or get out.

Believe me I'm not getting on you. I even gave you a thumbs up but just to clarify there are fans like me that'll bash the team when they believe they deserve it. 96-99 were the rough yrs especially when we first got the team. We were hated by everybody and we stunk on top of that. 1st jersey #29 Eric Turner.

First. Who loves boller?

Second. We wanted boller in 08 because starting a rookie qb was pretty unprecedented at the time and flacco looked horrid in preseason.

Third. Our fambase is only slightly more delusional than others.

We started Boller as a rookie lol. In fact Billick came out after the 1st preseason game that year and announced Boller as the starter and yes it was an eyeopener.

Yeah but it was LARGELY unprecedented. Obviously there were cases but the wave of starting rookie qbs began with flacco and Ryan, it became a trend after that, like stafford, sanchez, freeman, wilson, etc. And it continued to this day.. But at one point, it was considered absurd to start a rookie qb.

There's still plenty of us around, don't worry.

You know the old expression...those who know the least speak the loudest? Yeah...that's who we're infested with now.

Because this fan base is utterly spoiled and overreacts to everything. It's lead by a certain group and it's embarrassing.

Literally, they'd complain if they dropped a $2 glass on the floor that they were drinking from and claim that it would cause lead poisoning. See, it makes no sense

2011 is when I noticed the boards started changing.  Just be happy we don't have anymore 43 vs 34 threads, I lost years on my life in those.
