[News] Late For Work 10/17: Terrell Suggs Has Torn Biceps, But Wants To Keep Playing

83 posts in this topic

Biggest play of game: when Jimmy Smith sustained concussion. AFC North race shaping up to be one of attrition. Ravens are own worst enemy with penalties. John Harbaugh made same 4th-down call 31 other NFL coaches would make. Marty Mornhinweg didn’t fix everything.

I wouldn't expect Marty to fix everything, that's a tall order. Just was looking to see improvement...saw it.

Hope Suggs can come back, at least there's some hope he can. How long would Jimmy Smith be out w/concussion?

We were handed two gifts at the end of the game. The PI call on Perriman was a joke followed by the roughing the passer call. Would have been nice to have a couple of timeouts. Terrible clock management.

I don't blame Harbaugh for making the 4th down call, I blame the players for not being able to execute the play successfully. Way too often the offense leaves points on the field cuz they can't score in the red zone.

When we had that first goal line stand and failed to score on third down, we should have kicked the FG. If we had, we would only have been down by one point when we got the ball back at the end of the game. Instead of needing a touchdown, we would only have need a FG, and we were already in FG position when Flacco threw the int at the end of the game. We would have won that game.

knowing how our team treats injuries I would not expect to see him until well who knows. 1week or 5 weeks.

With a beat up offensive line how do you run the ball 4 times at the goal line?

Just inexcusable decision making.

I don't know why we didn't put in a couple of big defenders (Pierce, Jernigan, Williams) on the O-line for the QB sneak attempt.

Ok, thanks...so sounds like he'll miss the Jets game at least. That concussion knocked his helmet off (or occurred after it was off?) so that's something they'll likely consider as far as impact.

Mornhinweg made some changes but clearly this is a multi-week thing to deal with. Glad they didn't just stop running the ball when West made his first TD of the day.

The penalties for the Giants should've meant they gift-wrapped us the game, but we didn't close to deal on them.

Its not just the penalties(and have we not had this discussion before it seems like every darn year)! But the drops. The stupid drops by players that we are paying millions of dollars to, to CATCH THE FREAKIN FOOTBALL!

Most penalized team in the league.....

There you go. Holding is killing this offense, it single handily cost us the win when we could of built a big lead in the first half. These penalties are enormous, they absolutely destroy your momentum, they are holding this team back.

when the back-up O-Line stink you will get a lot of holding calls, because they are doing everything possible to keep Flacco clean....having said that, Fllacco complete more deep passes, than he has with the starters....Just saying....

Tavon Young played a great game. The 1st TD allowed was a tough assignment where we was in press coverage in the slot. The WR had way too much time to get open and Manning made a great throw. The last TD, Weddle took him out of the play accidentally. This kid was the only one not getting smoked every play. He was just on the unfortunate end of the two biggest plays.

Keep your head up Tavon! Best cover corner we have outside of Jimmy Smith, who was a 1st Round pick and took years to develop.

Other than SSS, Suggs is only warrior we have on either side of ball it seems. But age has tapped them both on the shoulder. Depth is none existent on the O-line. Even several 1st teamers are just average. Who is in charge of personnel...oh yeah, the Great Oz! Time to re-evaluate top-to-bottom!

The entire 2nd Quarter was littered with penalties that prevented our offense from moving the ball at all and truly opening a big lead. I was looking for the calls on my DVR and more than half were completely bogus, including the "Block in the Back on a long snapper" The long snapper does not block on punts, he runs down field. The officiating was a disaster all around, but the calls finally went our way in the 4th.

There were 2 blatant PI's that were missed, Several bogus holding penalties. A personal Foul on Laurence Guy for striking the long snapper in the head, when he did what he does on every FG. Penetrate and jump up to block. The outsider looking in will say the Ravens were fortunate. Break down every play and you realize this was going on the whole game. Odell also got away with an obvious offensive PI when he used his entire arm to throw back the DB on a deep ball right before the ball arrived. I can't remember who the corner was.

Is Ronnie Stanley still on the team? Is he hurt or in Harbs dog house? Come on
Harbs let the guy play for cryin out loud.

The whole truth about that situation is not being revealed.

after all the penalties, defensive breakdowns, receivers not getting open, pressure on Flacco.......Flacco overthrows a wide open Wallace that should have been the winning TD. Flacco is not cutting it. The Ravens need to focus on getting the next QB ready in the coming off season.

Penalties...these stupid penalties are absolutely killing the Ravens. Any time we start to get any kind of momentum, here comes a flag. I can understand some of the holding penalties so that Joe doesn't get crushed, but there are way to many inexcusable calls for just being plain stupid. If it wasn't for the fact that the AFC North still looks wide open for any team that can get hot enough to take it, we would be in serious trouble. Very fortunate that the Bungles look as bad as we do and the Squeelers will be without Big Ben for awhile (not to mention that the Squeeler's D looks terrible anyways). So the path is still open, we just need to get serious about walking down it.

Changing 1 play changes the rest of the plays after. So, we wouldn't be in a position to win at the end. If we kick the FG then the Giants are not pinned back and eventually punt which led to a Tucker FG. Instead, we kick the FG and then kick-off. The Giants start with a new set of plays at the 25. It foolish to think that you can change 1 play and then keep the rest the same.

Have biggest complaint with penalties, and am not the first person on here. Zachary Orr played well, especially considering he was missing CJ. Jimmy Smith played big, it hurt that he was hurt. Wouldn't lay all the blame on Tavon Young, yes, he did get beat, but there were serveral other moments, where he came up big. Really need to do something about the OL. I want Stanley and Yanda back! Not sure what their injury status is. With Ronnie, I'd say patience - they keep telling us he could play, but we heard that already. He was wearing a walking boot not long ago. How often do you wear a walking boot when you have a minor boo-boo?

We knew we were going to be suspect in the back end when Jimmy Smith went down, yet, we provided no cover over the top to help Young or Davis when they went up against Beckham. No DC in their right mind would leave a third string corner on their own against what could be the league's best receiver. I have seen team after team double him which was why he was having a bad year, teams adjusted, that is, all teams except the one that Dean Pees is in charge of. The one touchdown by BEckham, Weddle thought he was reading the mind of Eli and cut across to get to the tight end and not only was he wrong and caught out of position, he took out Tavon Young on the play. If we are going to fire Trestman for what he did, we have to start looking at Pees. No pressure, no coverage, and no help. Will Davis is supposed to lock up head to head with the best receiver in the league, when he couldn't even make the active roster to start the year. What is Pees thinking?

What is Weddle thinking? We can afford to give them a couple yards and a first down, we can't afford to try to be a hero and blow the whole game. I like Weddle, but that was just stupid football. And Webb is useless. He was standing 15 yards in front of Beckham and all he had to do was slow him down and his reaction time was like that of my grandmother. He was up to him and by him before he even took a step. Not only can we not draft wide receivers, since Ed Reed we haven't drafted a decent safety either.

I hate the fact that my team has reverted to the Kyle Boller Ravens but without the defense provided by Ed and Ray. Sorry to say, but the Ravens are in a sorry state and once again, it doesn't look to get any better. And trashing Butler for Hester who has proven to be a detriment not a benefit is really starting to make zero sense as our need for a receiver with good hands increases and Hester either doesn't suit or when he does he fumbles or lets punts drop and roll inside the 5. But Harbaugh and Rossburg were drooling over themselves thinking they could coach the great Devon Hester and make excuse after excuse as to why we desperately needed him when everyone else in the league knew he was done, but being a special teams guy, Harbaugh and Rossburrg had to have that on their resume.

Exactly. Terence West had 3 chances from the 1 and couldn't get in. If Juice makes any kind of block, he scores on the 4th down play. How are you a fullback and can't block 1 single guy against Goalline defense - pathetic by both backs in the backfield.

Embarrassing defeat. FO needs to take a long look at themselves and this crappy roster. We need a new secondary and this years crop of pass rushers has yielded 0 returns. Should have spent that Correa pic on a corner. Webb needs to go as he's useless back there.

And what's with all these freaking injuries. Do y'all serve milk over there in Owings Mills? Sheesh.

I totally agree. Young looks like to only DB worth keeping around if you ask me. If they can get anything in trade value for anyone but Weddle and Young, have at it and find some additional draft picks, though they will probably just waste them on backups and special teamers like always.
