[News] Ravens Offense Shows Promise Under Marty Mornhinweg, But Doomed By Penalties

81 posts in this topic

The offense was still horrible. If we throw 40 to 50 times that is a losing formula.
Two short fields from turnovers and two TD's. What else am I missing?
We are a middle of the pack team at best.

No, I think we are lower than that. More towards the bottom. Thinking a top ten pick if things don't improve.

At least this L will clear out the bandwagon fans.

Although I may criticize they still are My Team! This just helps me deal with the pain of losing.

if a team gets the day off after a loss how will it ever end,win or lose i get off,no wonder players want to come here.

It's part of the CBA. All players on every team get the day off....

I wish it were true. Unfortunately they will hang around just to post negative comments.

It's fine to criticize, just have some consistency please. You just said Flacco is a coach killer but poor Marty because the line is terrible now and better when Cam was fired.

Flacco is fresh off an ACL which most quarterbacks take more than a year to get right after suffering, and he looks pretty darn good for the injury return, so much so that we forget he is still recovering from that. He has an all rookie left side of the line on his blindside then that gets traded and is in disarray and the right side is screwed up. So he looks frazzled from that and is ground down by the end of these games, to me he looks like he is playing in significant pain, but he is Joe, so he hides it well. He is getting killed unless he bootlegs on that injured knee. He gets leads consistently and then constantly has to regain them after the defense gives them right back up. He is still running Trestman's garbage offense for which Trestman was fired from Chicago for doing the exact same thing. This week now Marty is calling it until he can gradually put in his own play list.

Flacco is not the problem. This week it was injuries. Outside the O-line, Jimmy was the worst, but Suggs may be the most serious since we have zero way to replace his skill set and talent, and Doom is out indefinitely. If Suggs is out then it will be similar to last year.

I really wish we had Spence, either that or we didn't put KC through the Dean Pees cycle of overwhelming your new talent with so much out of position responsibility he can't play and is destroyed just like Elam and Brooks.

What game were you watching Ryan? Short of the first quarter the offense showed nothing but an inability to gain yards period. The offense was the reason this game was lost. How many times were they at the 3 yard line or less and they couldn't punch it in or figure out a play to get a TD? I counted 6 after which it wasn't necessary anymore because I knew we wouldn't win.

Promise for next year. Web, Hurst, and Elvis need to go. Ravens have no offensive line, secondary, and receivers.

Don't get your hopes up. They had KO but they let him walk. I think the organization likes to save money first and win later. The Oline will be another patch work next year - you can count on it.
Until they realize that 1 KO is more valuable than any number of Hursts and Jensens, it will continue to be a patchwork Oline.

Remember they were so quick to sign Shareece Wright. He was cheap. You get what you pay for.

why can't we sign quality offensive lineman, ones that remember snap count. We have an average quarterback that's elite money. Flacco can't get out of own way, can't throw a touch pass, it has to be the high hard one. Teams make adjustment at half time, we don't. Keep going this way, we're looking at another top ten draft pick next year. I'm beginning to believe Ozzie is losing his touch, or is it big that big contract for a mediocre quarterback. What brainchild keeps thinking we can send undersized RB's into the middle of the line. Where are you Jamal Lewis?

wish someone would answer 1 question, how do teams like the VIKINGS and PATRIOTS win without their best players on the field,so does it make a difference to one team but not another?

Better coaching, we keep hiring ex-head coaches, who coached under Andy Reid, and he's won WHAT. It seem Harbaugh is of the old boy network, failure breeds failure. Let look at some bright young minds for coordinator jobs. These other guys were fired for a reason. HELLO

If you think that Flacco is playing up to the caliber expected of a QB with $120M contract then something is wrong here. There are at least 20 QB in this league today playing much better than Flacco. Since 2012 Flacco has 65 TDs and 50 Ints. In 2014 with Gary Kubiak his stats was 27TDs 12 Ints, if you exclude the 2014 stats, he has 38TDs and 38 Ints. That's a definition of a system QB.
When you look at his play - inaccuracies, inability to read defenses in his 9th yr, the uninspiring play etc. and you think that's acceptable?
In the NFL you are supposed to compete. He is not. He is playing uninspiring football for a player making the veteran minimum much less $20M+ per year.

There are a lot of players in this league right now that can play much better.

I see Perriman still dropping passes, Hurst getting Joe sacked, and Ravens trying rookies in the secondary.

Perriman better start stepping it up a notch. A number #1 pick. Lets move onto our #2 pick this year KC. Is it just me or is this the new Arthur Brown? When your team is that banged up and you can't get into the rotation as a #2 pick I'm wondering more than a little.

Ravens picks don't play in their first year .......and half their second year

You are so right, we keep signing players who were cut by other teams. Coaches who failed as head coaches. Hey guys why not bring in some young coaches with imagination. Stop with the good old boy network. hiring coached that Harbaugh worked with in Philly. We can't keep good players that go elsewhere and do well. KO, Grubbs.

Ryan Mallet comes to my mind especially after beating the hottest team in football with backups! Joe has no motivation what so ever! Wish we had Tyrod back here but they will say he isn't ready either! Smh

Okay, we've changed O.C.'s and like last week we put a partial decent game together, then,it's like we go to sleep or in some kind brain lapse and can't do nothing. When we were leading and the run game was going, how come we changed up? It looks like Flacco is 2 seconds slower than what's happening on the field.By the time he sees his open receiver.it's like there's a pause and by the time he gets the ball out the defender has recouped. And why weren't we in no huddle under 2 minutes left? Flacco had them moving like it was 5 minutes left.No urgency.I think it's time for the backup QB.He looked decent in preseason.

Well coached teams are well disciplined. And well disciplined teams do not commit a large number of penalties. Well coached and well disciplined teams are not self-destructive.

But really, penalties is just one of the chronic issues on this team that make us better at finding ways to lose than we are at finding ways to win.

Bandwagon fans are not defined by the fact that we criticize our favorite team. A bandwagon fan is one who abandons the team when they are playing badly; then return to cheer them on when they start playing well again.

In my opinion, being a fan does not mean living in a fantasy world and believing that our team is better than it is. And it does not mean to discredit critics as fair weather followers and ignore the reality. When patterns develop that contribute to losing, like drive-killing penalties and red zone anxiety disorder, a true, frustrated fan will criticize his/her team because we care.

but KO would cost more than 10 Hursts or Jensens. You can't pay everybody top dollar.

Two things have killed us over the past few years, too many stupid penalties (which i blame coaching for not cracking down on the players) and no killer instinct. Too many fgs when we have chances to get tds and end games. When was the last time we had a easy win? All our games come down to the last 5 minutes cause we settle for too much fgs Like today we should of scored the first 20 points but penalties killed us and not punching the ball in for tds

actually we played about the same but the penalties kept putting us in impossible down and distances.

I've been saying that for years now, we need some young, fresh minds in our coaching staff. The game has changed and we need to catch up and keep up. I'm tired of seeing the same old stuff week in and week out. It's old!!!

From Baltimore but exiled in Florida- witnessed Johnny Unitas with Raymond Berry to Bert Jones with Roger Carr. Raven fans (as AR once said) RELAX. We are 3 & 3. B. Perryman is a fantastic WR- saw him at UCF for 3 years & he gave UCF the only championship in a bowl game with S. Bortles. Flacco is elite, CJ Mosley is a consensus MVP in the making. The Ravens have something very special going on. I believe the next 4 games will be victorious- we will demolish the Stealers 2 x's, put the Pat-rotts dic_ in the dirt for the Championship then scalp the Cowgirls if they get out of prison in time for the SB.
Class organization, great management with an extremely talented group of professional football players. Have faith my friends....you have no idea what pessimistic fans are util you live in Florida.

#1,,,,,I'm just so curious when Pees will take the leash off the dogs, and allow them have a jail break blitz....Tires of seeing other teams do it to us....

We dont have good enough DBs to blitz like that unfortunately, I was actually shocked to see how many times we got burned deep. I actually thought Webb and Weddle would of changed that but I was wrong. We need to practice more press coverage not only to throw off the timing of the Offense but it will help our WRs learn how to beat it for when we play teams that do it.
