I don't know if it matters who the Jets start at QB, if he is able to drink Mai Tais and write the great American novel in the pocket. Need to generate a pass rush or the secondary is going to be in trouble.

Not sure how I feel about Geno starting. I think I'd rather us face him, because I think his potential/upside is lower than Fitz. Fitz can get on and shred you... but he's also prone to big mistakes that cost games. So there's that.

Geno, is also prone to the big mistakes (fumbled, then threw game sealing INT on Monday night)... but doesnt have the gunslinger mentality. He's more mobile, but hes not Tyrod who we did a nice job of bottling up. The major downside is that we dont have any recent film on Geno or what their offense looks like with a week to prepare the gameplan with him as the starter.

that can certainly work us against us. But it can also work against them, where they may not be as in sync across the board with a slightly different game plan.

One big positive for them is that his mobility probably alleviates some of the issues theyre having along the OL. And he's probably a little safer with the football, and so will prob be less likely to just throw the game away.

But, we need this win. We're desperate. Im as optimistic for this season as it gets - but this is a MUST WIN game if there ever was one. We need to get this one in before the bye so we can come back healthy, tied for 1st in the AFCN. That Steelers game with both of us coming off the bye NEEDS to be for the division lead. We wont have a problem getting up for it, but the bigger the better with that game.

Hopefully the fact that their locker room is not behind Geno helps too. Theyre pros so doubt it impacts much, but Marshall for one isnt going to defend Geno like he would Fitz. That situation could be about to burst with some of those personalities. We saw how Chicago spiraled once Cutler came back and Marshall didnt like it.

I feel like Quincy Anunwa is going to be a guy who can give us fits. He can get behind a defense if you sleep on him. I'm worried more about him than Marshall because I know this team is going to do whatever possible to stop Marshall.

This team can't stop real No. 1 WR's no matter what they do.

To be honest,  I completely forgot he went to their practice squad,  I was mainly just concerned with the lack of pass rush we are going to have.

Having Stanley and Wagner come back is huge for the team. Even without Yanda that's a massive improvement over Lewis at LT and a literal turnstile at RT.

Jimmy coming back should be good too.

I honestly am hoping for an W. I'll predict one but we could very well win this game

I don't think The Ravens can add him to their team even if they wanted to right now. To my understanding  practice squad players are supposedly prohibited from signing with the next opponent of their current team any less than fives days before the game , or nine days during a bye week.

I like Jimmy on Brandon Marshall, sure its tough but I like the match up, I'm just worried about what Anunwa what do to our other CBs given the skill set.

Especially in 2013. Man, Jimmy played great then. Really hope that he's ready to go. Last thing I want to see is Geno lighting us up. Speaking of which, there's a APB on our pass-rush. Have you seen our pass-rush? I can't seem to find it.

Count me among those who would rather see Geno than Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick at least has the passing skills to potentially get some large gains on our secondary. I really don't respect Geno's decision-making at all as a passer (which is ironic because Fitz himself has been pretty careless with the ball, though some of those were bad drops/deflections off the WRs' hands).

Jets also might have some considerable injuries to monitor. All of the following DNP in practice on Wed (granted, it was a shorter week for them):

OL Ryan Clady (shoulder)
LB Darron Lee (ankle)
OL Nick Mangold (knee)
OL Brent Qvale (neck)
CB Buster Skrine (NIR)
DL Muhammad Wilkerson (ankle)

I really like the prospect of our interior pass-rush possibly going up against a backup C.

The way our coaching staff & FO showed seemingly no interest in bringing him onto our PS leads me to believe he'll never be a Raven again.

That said, I loved him as a prospect, and as a pure pass-rusher, he showed definite talent. With Suggs permanently injured for the season, Dumervil a complete unknown for the remainder of this season (and honestly, the remainder of his career), and Z-Smith showing very poor production, we need all the pass-rushers we can get. They'd be planning for the future if they signed him to the active roster too, since odds are Doom won't be here next year (not under his current contract, anyway), so they'll need a replacement anyway--why not a 1st year DPR in the same mold as Doom? Surely we can spare a roster spot by cutting someone like Marqueston Huff or Daniel Brown, for example.

Jimmy Smith is the most underrated player on this team after his poor season last year with all his issues he was having with his foot. You can see after he finally got the screw removed he is looking like the lock down player we are used to seeing. If he does not play our defense goes from top 5 in the league to what we saw in the second half last week.

This is very true.  The 4 most important players on our injury report are:

1) Flacco

2) Jimmy Smith

3) Stanley

4) Wagner

Fortunately, it sounds like all 4 of them have a "legitimate" chance to play Sunday.

Not saying the other injuries aren't important, but I feel we can more easily overcome them for one game before having a bye to get healthy.

I hope we don't make this defense look good. They're better than what the stats say talent wise. Revis and Buster Skrine are formidable and they do have a solid DL.

Don't you mean Jimmy Smith is terrible and gets burned all the time and we should of paid Rasheed Melvin?

That comment was truly "lost in translation"

Anyway- with the jets switching to Geno AND coming off of a short week- there Is absolutely no excuse for us to lose this game. Even if Mallet plays I expect a W ...and if Joe plays we damn sure better win distinctively and not through another nail biter. A nice blowout would bode well for this teams morale heading into the bye. I don't care if its the jets or not..a win feels good and is contagious.

I'll take a W vs. the Jets any way we can get it, no matter who plays...whether we look good, bad, or ugly. Bottom line is that if we can get out of this game with a W, we are most likely tied for the division with a bye week to get our guys healthy for the stretch run.  I don't care if we get "style points" or not.

IIRC didn't we offer Ochi a PS position but, he chose the Jets because his family is from NY? Same as with Butler, He turned us down to go to TB with his family from there.

Their DL is solid but Revis and Skrine have not played well this season.

Smith in first half, OBJ gets 11 yards. Smith out second half, OBJ gets 214 yards. Not saying he alone was the reason, but having him out there sure seams better than not!

Yea, pass rush has to come around starting this week. Even the best secondaries can't cover receivers when the QB has 5+ seconds back there.
