If the Ravens make a move in-season, it will be promoting another offensive coach (which I do not know enough about any of them to know if any of them would be legitimate options--maybe some more knowledgeable posters can shed some light)  So, here are the options (in no particular order).

A move was just made...

If the Ravens make a move in-season, it will be promoting another offensive coach (which I do not know enough about any of them to know if any of them would be legitimate options--maybe some more knowledgeable posters can shed some light)  So, here are the options (in no particular order)

Juan Castillo                        Offensive Line Coach

Bobby Engram                   Wide Receivers Coach

Thomas Hammock           Running Backs Coach

Marty Mornhinweg        Quarterbacks Coach

Craig Ver Steeg                 Senior Offensive Assistant

Todd Washington            Assistant Offensive Line Coach

Matt Weiss                         Offensive Assistant

Andy Bischoff                    Offensive Assistant

Dan Parsons                       Assistant To The Head Coach

I believe if a move is made, it will be the week before the bye week (after the Giants and Jets game) to give new offensive coordinator time to implement his changes, etc.  I think a change will be made if we go 0-2 in New Jersey.  If we go 1-1, it depends on how the games go and how the Ravens feel about the options listed above.

It already happened...

I only wish they made this move before the season.  But now is better than never.  Marty will run the ball.  There is no where but up to go.

Scapegoat. By season's end we'll be reading on this board how Mornhinweg stinks. I'll bring this post back up when the times comes.

During your dance were you singing, "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay! My, oh, my, what a wonderful day" because I have it stuck in my head ever since the news was confirmed.

I remember when that run game was beastly but I had no idea it was Marty who was calling the shots. Get Stanley back, move Alex Lewis back to LG and potentially replace Zuttah with Urschel and I feel extremely confident with our offense. We had gaping holes in that left side yesterday that West took advantage of.

We also have to remember that was the Geno Smith year. If you think Flacco was bad, Geno Smith is a hell of a lot worse. Honestly I'm not hoping for too much here, as Caldwell turned out to be terrible in the end, but I think he could be good enough. Not great.

But judging by recent trends we lose our next game in epic fashion only to make the Jets our... Well you know.

Normally I'd agree but the book is written on Trestman. The complaints here are exactly the same as they were when he was in Chicago.

Entirely possible, but Trestman surely isn't a scapegoat.  What he was doing wasn't working and it didn't work anywhere else except Canada in recent years.  It was a move that had to be made, regardless of the results of the next guy in the position.

Is it true that us Ravens fans "like to point fingers at offensive coordinators"?

That's our prerogative.  I don't recall any chatter being attributed towards Kubiak.

Testermine (?)  is not that good period and should be gone.

Scapegoat?  Nah.  Have you watched the play-calling?  The abandonment of the run, the forced run plays.  3rd and nine in the redzone and you run for 1 yard then a fake FG?  Sure there are a lot of bonehead mistakes, but offensive playcalling and schemes have been a major issue in our play.

:D

Anyone else shocked? This just doesn't seem like a ravens move. I'm glad though. He isn't nfl caliber. Lets hope Marty calls a proper run game and schemes chip blocks and real passes rather than TE screens

Unfortunately the quarterback stays. Trestman didn't help himself but captain check down now is playing like he doesn't want to take a hit to make a play. The faces will change but the one who has been here through all the excuses (minus being competent in Kubiak's scheme) is still here.

Please. These people - I swear on everything I love - found things to complain about immediately after we won the SB. So yes, some people may complain regardless. It means nothing, and certainly does not validate your comment in anyway

I generally don't believe in addition by subtraction, and I'm not sure what exactly is going to change since Mornhinweg is keeping Trestman's scheme. But if it makes you all feel better I guess theres some benefit.

Trestman was bad.  I actually think we find a rhythm with Marty and appreciate him.  Wasn't he behind the Eagles offenses?  This is a good move.

Exactly. That's why this change was needed, regardless of how Mornhinweg does during his tenure as OC. It's bad enough when you are doing your job poorly, but when you are so bad at it that you are pissing off the players, then something has to give.

Harbs and ozzie SHOULD look to upgrade the OC position regardless.

You can't just completely change everything almost mid way thru the season.

Dammit, who else is finally EXCITED again to watch some Ravens football????

All eyes on you, Marty. Don't screw this up. Your job depends on it.

Yeah. I don't know if Marty will be better but he can't be worse.

Just run the ball and send a WR over the middle and it's automatically golden comparatively

I never said mid-season. I was replying to the person that said we'll end up blaming morningwig. We should be looking for upgrades regardless.
