Only read a little on Wikipedia about Marty Mornhinweg, it did say he ran a more balanced offense while on eagles.

What do you guys think about him?

I can admit to not knowing too much about him, but I did see that in all of his previous stints as an OC, his offense was in the top half of the league.  I know he definitely runs a balanced attack though, and that's about it.

Anything is better than Trestman, it doesn't take a great - or even good - OC to know that you need to do what's working, passing 40+ times with a struggling line and the run game working is just plain moronic.

The writing was evidently on the wall and there was no other alternative. I said it yesterday but I am hardly calling myself a prophet here because everyone knew this was happening. You could tell Flacco was upset and you can't have that without having someone lose their job. The entire offense seemed angry and I am sure Harbaugh was, too. Losing two home games back-to-back did Trestman in and was the end of him here. The way we looked on offense is why he lost his job, though. Maybe none of the players liked him or bought into him, I don't know. Either way, I wish him and his family the best. Nobody deserves to be unemployed--just not here.

i dunno about marty. Another guy that jerry rice made? He had amazing success at Sfo and phli but hey...they had quite a potent O talent wise. He struggled at NJ but he had a good running offence..

is he better than trestman? yes..but i dont know if he can make flacco look better than he really is..

We finally get a little continuity at OC and we want to talk about firing him?

I  mean if he leads the team to one of our worst statistical seasons, (with a healthy team, yes injuries would give him a pass) then yeah get rid of him. That wont happen though.

Well, I admit I was wrong, after the last game I jumped sides and decided Id want to see him go too.

The news this morning is good news, but im not sure who Marty is.

The good news is, last time we lost to the Redskins and fired our OC mid-season, we won the Super Bowl.

Bad news: I hate to see his daughter go...

If I'm not mistaken, Marty still ran a WCO style so the short/quick passes and checkdowns likely won't stop, but you have to assume he won't ignore the run like Marc did.

It was destined to happen. As Grim said the writing was on the wall and his days were numbered. Wish him and his family the best.

Praise God!  Finally, some good news after yesterday's loss.

A key point about Marty M.  ---  from the Ravens site --

2013-14: (with New York Jets) Spent two seasons as offensive coordinator, helping the Jets rank third in rushing offense (138.7 ypg) during that span. 2014: Helped guide a rushing attack that finished third in the NFL (142.5 ypg) behind RBs Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson..

so no more excuses for the offense?

That o-line is still a hot mess.

They could have had their pick from the coaching carousel and let the new OC have an entire offseason at his disposal.

During his career as an Offensive Coordinator, Mornhinweg's offenses have finished 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th, and 12th in total offense, and regularly highly ranked in big plays.

Not bad. At this point I'd be happy to see anything north of 16th.

Well the days of Cam Cameron were pretty rough, when he was fired most of us rejoiced.  Finger will always be pointed somewhere....

We did but the end result worked out pretty good. Trestman had been awful abandon the run game all these short passes use our strengths Joe's strong arm Wallace, Perriman, and  Moore's speed to open up the middle for SSS, Pitta, Juice as well as the running game. Opening up the running game will help keep the pass rush from beating on Joe.

So I assume the Ravens official organizational position is now that if you lose to the Redskins, you must fire a coach.

Lmao

Fire a coach win the Super Bowl that's how we did in 2012 also in 2000 we lost to the Redskins and won Super Bowl. I hope that history repeats itself

I remember when that run game was beastly but I had no idea it was Marty who was calling the shots. Get Stanley back, move Alex Lewis back to LG and potentially replace Zuttah with Urschel and I feel extremely confident with our offense. We had gaping holes in that left side yesterday that West took advantage of.

I hope for the best for Trestman but this move needed to happen. We were on pace to be the 2nd on the list for most passes in a season and we are averaging 6 yards per attempt.
