[News] Breshad Perriman: I Have To Make That Catch

42 posts in this topic

This game shouldnt come down to the last 2 minutes. Ravens if they are for real should of had this game over by the start of the 4th quarter. Things need changing now that its only week 5. This coaching staff and ownership never have the guts to make a quick change when we need it, they all seem to close and wont fire somebody for the good of the team. Ten points against the skins is ridiculous all we hear in training camp is promises from players and we get same results. What happens when we play stronger teams? we are lucky the schedule has been weak for us or we could be 0-5

Just insane to think what Flacco could do with an AJ Green type WR, guess we'll truly never know.

Hope Perriman can learn from this and do better going forward, make this a growing milestone is all you can do at this point.

This offense had the ball on the 15 yard line after a turnover and got 0 points. Even if Perriman caught the ball, it would not have changes the outcome. The offense stinks.

What about the other one that he let slip off his fingers? At least he caught the pass at the end but all too many times does he drop them. He was a pass dropper in college, and he is the same in the NFL. All we read about was how fast he is. Baloney. I have not seen him behind the defender once in the five games this year. If he was as good as the Ravens and the Raven media portrays, he would be out there more, certainly as a starter. He IS NOT, and as a first round draft pick, he is a bust.

Should have rode Mike Wallace at the end. He would have been smart enough to drag his feet. Fans said Perriman drop passes in college. Man were they right but what do they know that Ozzy gets paid to know?

The problem is not what Flacco could with WRs like AJ Green. Right now the offense is in a funk. 10 Jerry Rices would not make a difference!

Really because he dropped a pass too

Except it would because despite bad offensive play we could of still won if they made those catches.

I am excited for the future of Perriman, this is his 5th NFL game and people are calling him a bust is laughable. He is YOUNG and will make MISTAKES but once he gains his confidence and plays to his potential then everyone will love him and realise they jumped to conclusions way too early.. Our entire team could of played better and thats starting with Flacco. I will save my #FireTrestman rant for another topic but I honestly dont see us having a winning record let alone making the playoffs with him calling our plays.

Perriman had bad hands in college, and he has had at least 1 drop in each game so far (2 drops @Jax). Plus he doesn't seem to get separation very easily, which is surprising since he's supposed to be fast. He really hasn't shown me anything so far in his brief career, though his career is still young.

If our receivers would simply catch the key passes that hit them right in the hands, we'd be 5-0. We don't need Jerry Rice. We just need players who can catch the ball.

Even with the drop and the inability to stay in bounds, I think Perriman should start seeing more snaps. At least Perriman can get in position to make a play in the first place. There's no way Wallace or Aiken beat Norman off press coverage. Perriman is basically a rookie who went almost 2 years without playing a game, and he missed most of training camp and the preseason. He might just need some time to get comfortable in the offense and gain some confidence. It's not like anyone in front of him is lighting it up, so they might as well see what he can do with a bigger role.

To be honest I don't feel he should be down on himself for that TD being overturned, it was tight spacing, he made a spectacular leaping catch with one of the top CBs all over him, just happen his second foot didn't get down by the smallest of margins.   Let's not forget it was so close it was originally ruled a TD.

Now i I feel he should be more down about that missed bomb that Flacco put on point, because it seemed like he slowed up just bit and reached out with it going right between his hands.

People need to stop with all the bust talk, the dude still hasn't had a training camp or any of the practice sessions like the rest of these offensive players.  During game day threads some of these fans are basically waiting for the guy to have passes go near him to say see he's a bust.

Expectations for him shouldn't be anything more than 300-600 yards receiving and with this offensive system or lack thereof it should be even less than that.

Stop. The kid is still a rookie even though he has been in the league for 2 seasons. He has great potential. Give him a chance.

Wallace knows he is in the nfl and needs two feet in bounds.

Couldn't watch the entire game but I though Perriman missed a long pass that is caught by good NFL (college, HS) receivers during the 1st quarter. I know he's just getting to start after injuries but he doesn't look good.

I agree with almost everything you said except you holding on your fire Trestman rant. Let it all out! It's the only way this guy gets even close to being fired. This guy has been the OC for 19 games and 8 pre season games. You do the math but I think that's enough of a sample size to conclude that he's not the right guy for the talent on this team.

Fire Trestman Please....

It's all about confidence. That's why Steve pulled him aside to talk. That's what a good leader does, he knows how fragile the mindset of a young receiver can be.

In this day of social media, it's even more important to keep the kids confidence up, and those calling him a bust are not helping.

This kid made one hell of a outstretched catch in the 1st qtr. Then let a beautiful pass on a go route slip through his hands. I'm sure on the endzone pass, against one of the best corners in the league, all he was thinking about was making that catch. He made a fine catch but failed to get both feet down.

OK, you learn from that mistake and move on!

Winning teams have players who make clutch plays when the game is on the line. Unfortunately, the Ravens don't have any. When the D forces two turnovers inside the red zone and you come up with zero points, you lose.

Perriman is still growing, this game goes to the coaches, they should take the majority of the blame.

His drops came early in the year as he was adjusting to a new beginning and a bad one at that.  His previous yr he had bortles at the helm

Perriman can and will be a good receiver in this league. He just needs the reps. He needs to maintain confidence in his abilities, and keep working with Steve and Mike Wallace to do so. Keep it up Breshad. You can do this! And you can do this well.

Perriman is still a rookie. He can make exceptional catches as we have seen. I'm not sure if it's fixable though. He had this problem in college too and it seems to have followed him. The Almost TD was probably more of him focusing on actually catching the ball. You have to do that first otherwise, where your feet are doesn't matter. I won't give up on Breshad just yet though. He has the potential to be one of the Best WR's we've had. He just needs to be coached up and keep practicing. Getting more opportunities would be a good start however, with only throwing the ball 7-8 yards a pop and only getting 2 or 3 opportunities a game, we're not going to see what he can do very quickly.

I think he looked VERY good considering he just got back in, what, Week 1 or 2? He didn't even work out in OTA's or Camp. Give the guy time. It's week 5, which means he has what, 3 weeks in???

Give the guy a break. That was NOT an easy catch. You saw Torrey not get his foot down and miss many more that were so much easier.

Bingo! Two TO's in the RED ZONE with ZERO points. But nothing to do with Self Righteous John or Far Below Average Joe. All Trestmans
fault. Obviously need a new OC. Just like everyone wanted Pees run out of town. Far Below Average Joe can do NO WRONG.

If he was not a first round pick he be gone.

I don't know about that....  We've given worst guys more of a chance than that.
