[News] C.J. Mosley Regrets One-Handed Dive That 'Backfired'

31 posts in this topic

though CJ made a costly mistake, I don't blame him for the loss. we had plenty of other opportunities, early on, to gain control of the game. we just let all our chances slip through our fingers. And it's starting to become a pattern week in, week out and it's irritating. All that talent we have on the field and our receivers can't get separation. When I look at Antonio Brown...when Ben is scrambling he runs like crazy to get open and Ben always finds him down field for a BIG play.

I like Mosley and the intensity he plays with, BUT, I can't believe he was stupid enough to flip the ball forward into the end zone. If you look at the replay, he didn't reach it, he tossed it and lost it. That was the turning point of the game. There were a lot of blunders today but this was a biggie.

No one should fault Mosley, he was trying to make the most of the play...which is more than can be said of many other players on this team. If we had a functional offense, perhaps he would have opted to step out of bounds and let the offense punch in the routine TD. We all know, our offense would have likely settled for a FG even from that spot. Hence, I don't blame Mosley for going for it...just had a bad break. I can't even believe Harbaugh had the temerity to call him out for it...then again he's proven to be a master of deflection in his regrettable tenure here.

No, that was STUPID. This team does some of the most stupid things that you ever see in a game. Understand that it was all about you at that moment and not the "team"

Middle linebackers should leave the spectacular dives to the people who are actually suppose to touch the ball.

I agree completely with this. Harbaugh throwing Mosley under the bus, instead of focusing on his own blunders, is part of the problem with this offense. Look at the ineptitude of our Offensive Coordinator and fix that, so our linebackers don't have to try to save the day Harbs !

YES!!! He is not a selfish player at all but knew that was the best chance of actually scoring a TD.

I was going to write that. Anyway, worse than that, we might have thrown an interception that went 99 yards the other way and got them a TD right away. I guess 6 points is all you can lose on one play. Anyway, someone could have gotten hurt on the offense, you get the idea, we're very lack-luster on offense as Flacco had a horrible 7.0 yards average per completion. I would love to say he threw for 300 yards and 4 TD's at least a few times before this year is over. I must be dreaming!

CJ I still think it was a great catch. Hey, all your other interceptions this year have been awesome. I can see where you wanted to get the TD, get the score. It was a mistake but I could see what you were trying to do it just went wrong. As players you train and train to take the play as far as possible, into the endzone if possible...I understand how it happened you "tried" for that extra yardage. I don't see it as a stupid play, it was more a matter of split second decision that got away from you.

And it IS a stupid rule. What the rule should be is ruled a fumble on 1 yard line but Ravens maintain possession due to the initial interception and run back.

You are really something. Harbaugh has had "a regrettable tenure" here. You must be watching a different team over the last nine years. He is not perfect that is for sure but labeling him as a failure is unbelievable.

I was mad first but I'm good now. I see why he got greedy when our offense can't score at all and we decide not to take the easy points. He's been a ball hawk this year and I'm loving it

I have no fault with the play other than him not keeping two hands on the ball. We, that have played, will forever hear our coaches bellowing Two Hands, Two Hands!

It was a great interception CJ, the ball just took a bad bounce. Hope your injury isn't serious and we find you back on the field soon doing your thing.

I think it should be mandatory training for defenders that unless you have a clear shot to the endzone, when you recover a turnover, fall on the ball. Let the offense do its job. How many times have we seen a fumble get away from someone who tries to scoop it and run with it instead of just falling on it?

Well, someone should teach him that rolling the ball into the end zone is NOT a touchdown.

Yes, every time I watch it, it makes me sad.......he definitely threw it forward like it was going to be good. SMH.

Disagree. He was trying to make a play unlike the other 52 men out there. The turning point was on the second offensive possession.

CJ seems to be playing well against the pass this season, what, 3 really good Ints. But definitely tried to do too much yesterday. Please stay composed and cut out the bonehead plays. That one cost the game.

Giving credit where credit is due... Mosley is playing well against the pass this year.

I will never be upset at a player for giving maximum effort to make a play. I'm sure he learned from it and no one is more upset about it than he is.

On to the next.

I hear ya 757, surprised there isn't a cut Mosley thread... The guy made a great play but tried to do too much after it (flashbacks to Reed lol). He's improved so much against the pass this year, he deserves a pass on that play and that stupid rule

How? I have to disagree with you.The fumble went into the end zone and then out of bounds. Had the ball gone straight out of bounds and not into the end zone, the ball would have been Ravens ball. How is that sequence "stupid"?

While I agree about the turning point... There's only 46 players active for the game :D

This!  We could have another topic about this rule all together.

How do you penalize the team who forced the turnover??
