Merged: QBs you'd rather have than Flacco

537 posts in this topic

1. Cam Newton

2. Maybe Russell Wilson

3. Maybe Derek Carr

Everyone else that may be better than Flacco is mid 30's plus! Think about it......

It's a product of the system, Flacco is not a bad QB. We are just killing ourselves with bad O-line play, sloppy coaching, and TERRIBLE DROPS

Flacco is workable but not with this contract. his contract is a killer..

he cant run out the pocket and extend plays..you need that in the NFL these days.. hes a statue QB..makes us even easier to deal with

Aaron Rodgers

Steve Young

Peyton Manning

Drew Brees

Joe Montana

(...get the point?)

So tired of our WRs not making the kill plays, it's infuriating. Perfect pass, it's not fair honestly

So you need a QB who can run out of the pocket and extend plays (which you don't, of course), but yet you name at least two guys in your list who don't do this at all.

he's a lot more flawed than ALL the guys on my list. He's an inconsistent thrower of the football and his footwork is awful. He's streaky but really for the most part hes been an average QB ..sometimes awful..sometimes good..

he's overpaid and its hurt us. Our record since the SB win and his contract is not a fluke. heck we almost missed the playoffs in 2014..remember kansas did us a favor?

So now you're pivoting off your inaccurate opinion that you have to be a mobile QB in order to succeed in this league into some other tangent that has nothing to do with mobility whatsoever?

In another unsurprisingly ironic post, you also proceed to tear about his fundamentals, including footwork and throwing inconsistencies, which are very commonly used to describe QBs like Cam Newton (throws off his back foot constantly), Derek Carr (highly erratic passer from an accuracy standpoint... you saw this last week), and even recently, Aaron Rodgers (often criticized for poor footwork and inconsistent mechanics).

Overpaid is a relative term. It implies that there are better options available that would produce the same output, which of course isn't true.

5.The Big Ben

Honorable Mention: Jim Harbaugh

Joe will always have a place in my heart but to be real...the guy never improves.

1. Well he won you a Lombardi (even though I'm not sure you deserved it) in 2012 without any of the things you listed, so again that seems like a silly statement.

2. He's been criticized for it often. Whether you knew that or chose to ignore it entirely up to you, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

3. Sure he is. The guy who always plays worse in the playoffs. Yes, that's exactly what NFL teams are looking for in QB (rolls eyes).

4. Nope, I'm a realist. I see what other teams have at QB, and specifically, what they don't have. I see there's at least a half dozen franchises that have spent over a decade looking for a QB that is as good as Flacco, regardless of what you think about him. And I know that if he were a FA tomorrow, there would be a about 10 teams in the league that would gladly pay him as much or more than what we pay him now.

Because I spend time looking at what other teams do. I don't just go look at the box scores and fantasy stats of other players and say "well gee golly they are better".

To be honest, I'm looking forward to the post-Flacco struggle. Its a ways off, but those first few years where we are putting a QB out there far worse than Flacco (and we will)... I'm really looking forward to it. I'll have my popcorn ready every week, and just sit back and laugh at the boards.

I'll say this confidently... there's a large number of "fans" who post on this board that definitely deserve like a decade long drought of just really bad teams. Like you guys have legitimately earned the right to have that. I'm talking like Bills/Browns level teams for at least 10 years.

Maybe that'll whip some of you guys into shape, or if nothing else, it will weed out the "pretenders". And this board is full of a lot of "pretenders".

If you give Flacco Derek Carr's OL, Ravens would probably be a very solid 5-0. If the Ravens committed more to the run, if for no other reason than to open up the play action, Ravens would probably be a very solid 5-0. If Flacco's receivers beyond just SSS and Wallace made plays for him (a luxury literally every other QB we've faced this year has had), Ravens would probably be 5-0.

I've seen games where Rodgers struggled a lot because of poor pass protection. Same with Brady. Flacco is far from perfect, but you can't put it all on the QB when your OL is in shambles week after week.

You say that as if it is a bad thing. Just because you are a negative person does not mean everyone else is.

I wish I could upvote this into oblivion. This fan base truly pisses me off.

I'll say this, I disagree with you a bit; not a whole lot, but sometimes. At least when I disagree with you, it's things that are based on reality. Things we can argue about and respond to each other with...facts, logic. Guys like you-know-who are all too common.

You can tell who was a team in the BOller era and who wasn't sometimes.

No, you can tell the people that have virtually no accountability in their own lives and try to bark out demands like they own the place.

And you can definitely tell the people who don't watch any other games outside of the Ravens games, and the fullest extent of their knowledge of other teams is in the box scores and ignorant radio call in listeners.

I'll tell you what - the Eagles have a gamer in Carson Wentz. That kids is already making changes at the line of scrimmage. So, he's one. Carr is another. Brady of course, Rodgers, Russell Wilson.

Flack is OK. He's always been just OK. The deal is he is making $22 million this year and we can get the level of play he provides for less money/ That's all. This isn't personal, he simply now commands pay that is beyond what he produces on the field.

Where can we get that level of play for less money?

Obviously I'm not putting guys like Carr and Wentz ahead, mostly because no team in the league really cares about how well people do against Detroit or San Diego in October. QBs these days are paid for what they do in January.

Torching Cleveland in the regular season isn't impressive anymore.

You'd take a guy with 3 NFL games under his belt over a proven stud; a QB who anyone with half a brain ranks in the top 10 on his worst days, and many put in the top 5? That's ridiculous.
