Where are the rookies......

24 posts in this topic

So, Matt Judon, Kamilia Correa, Chris Moore, and Kenneth Dixon was not on the field again. The vets are slow on defense and have no explosiveness!!!!! Put the young legs on the field.

Dixon was on the field, he just didn't do anything.

Ronnie Stanley - Hurt, but we already know how much he means to this team
Kamalei Correa - It was always going to take him some time to learn the nuances of the game
Bronson Kaufusi - On IR
Chris Moore - He's had the dropsies and someone had to be inactive, but not a bad start for his career to be honest
Tavon Young - 2nd most valuable rookie so far
Willie Henry - Inactive, behind some good depth
Alex Lewis - Turning out to be a good player along the OL
Kenneth Dixon - Working his way back from injury, give him time
Matt Judon - Might be one of our better pass rushers right now, but he's not a ST guy so he sits
Keenan Reynolds - PS
Maurice Canady - IR

That's about what I expected from the rookie class at this point.  Think we're actually getting good contributions from a lot of them.

I would have put Dixon on the field that last drive instead of Kyle. When the game is on the line, you put your best players on the field.

Rookies are getting hurt because of Trestman.  His game plans and play calls are so predictable, and he is relying on these young players to play like a pro bowler!  We have great rookies and they are playing well, but they are going be on IR list due to all stupid game plan/calls.

And considering 0 offensive rookies are on IR...?

We honestly have 2 issues that may stop us from being a playoff team. Offensive line and outside pass rush. Suggs and doom get stalemated ever single time. Zds either is upshaw 2.0 or he's injured. Offensive line is one of the worst I've ever seen.

I agree with you, I would prefer to see Judon over ZDS or Dumerville at this point. Judon will make plays if given the chance.

In his defense, who on the edge has done well?

Not sure what you expect really. Stanley is injured, Correa is a project and we reshuffled some of the ST guys this week - and it didn't help in the slightest, Kaufusi is on IR, Moore was disappointing last week and again with the ST reshuffle, Young has played and done well, Henry is both a project and plays at a deep position, Lewis is playing pretty darn well, Dixon did play today but he's still not 100% and couldn't do much without his cutting ability, Judon doens't provide help on ST so there's no room for him at the moment, Reynolds is on the PS and Canady is on IR.

And the Defense is definitely not the problem with this team, if the offense gave them any time to rest they wouldn't be worn out by the end.

Stanley, Lewis, and Young are very obviously being used, and they are playing very well. KD is back from injury and West is averaging like 9 YPC, so no reason to rush him. Correa and Moore are projects, but I assume they will be active next week if Mosley and SSS/Wallace can't go. Heck I'd expect Moore to replace Waller, who really didn't do anything, on the active list regardless. Judon and Henry are just victims of a deep line and neither can play ST, though I will agree Judon should get more chances

No one but being as unproductive in the pass rush just won't do it. You might as well see Judon.

We'll see if he can make plays but Za'darius has been ineffective.

Judon has been good since day one but Harbaugh and Co, have been reluctant to let him play. Judon has more sacks than Smith yet he's on the bench.

think he had one but it was called back on a penalty.

Or maybe I am thinking preseason.

I am quite sure he has sacked an NFL QB of some sort.

Yeah, it's a shame Judon is getting benched because he can't contribute on ST. We are sitting our most talented pass-rusher every week... They really need to find a spot for Judon. Our edge-rush is really underwhelming, and it gets just so much more exciting with Judon in there, since he's clearly a handful for OTs to stop, unlike Z-Smith or even Doom lately.

Also, although he's not a rookie, Perriman really hasn't shown me much to be excited about. Even the most basic stuff (catching the football) seems to be difficult for him, plus he doesn't seem to get good separation.

I would say Stanley is on par, if not exceeding expectations as a rookie despite dealing with this injury. Dixon has flashed and just needs time to re-adjust being a rookie coming off a long lay off and all. Coreia is a little disappointing considering how high he was drafted but I think we knew he was going to be a bit of a project.  Tavon Young looks to be a good nickel long term. Judon has exceeded my expections as a small school guy. Alex Lewis holding his own, could end up being a steal to get a starting guard that late.

While this class isn't setting the world on fire there are certainly some solid players in the bunch. We're talking about potentially getting a starting LT, LG, RB, Nickel, OLB from the same draft, will be interesting to look back on this class in a few years.

T. Young best rookie so far this season... They value STs way to much and still play bah fundamentals STs. Let the rookies play on STs and develop instead of vet Special teams only players with low upside. I wanna see Correa, Judon, Moore. McClellan is good against the run but bad against the pass. Levine we don't use him that much as in TC but he's still valuable. Kedrick Lewis has been bad on defense and STs. Carter can be inactive for Correa.

As soon as they make 1 mistake they're benched. Its all about confidence with you take the next step. Live with their mistakes and teach them.

Tavon Is a baller. Pleasant surprise. Even with his size he looks like he may end up being our best corner in the next year or two. Judon needs to be ACTIVE.
