Mcclain Vs Ej

27 posts in this topic

I don't understand why Harbs said earlier in the week that EJ would be ready to go if he had to. McClain had 2 safeties on the year and 2.5 sacks. EJ had 4 tackles and .5 sacks. Yeah McClain played more games, but since when is that a bad thing? The kid is a rookie, and our rookies have been big for us this year. I don't want a TE out there as Suggs' back up!

THIS is something Harbs might be screwing with us. But Suggs is as injured as they say. You guys are exaggerating when you say, EVERYONE, laughed when they mentioned his name.

yea i agree. didnt mcclain get a pick in preseason as well? either way though i think we'll be alright, i dont think harbs would put someone out there if he wasnt fully confident he could do the job. we'll see what happens, i think suggs will still play as much as he can

I could be mistaken but EJ plays more of the DE style Suggs plays. McClain would be more of a fit in the LBish plays.

Also EJ's stats are probably screwy because he's a backup TE.

they're not seriously gonna put a tight end in for Suggs, are they? What about Ayanbadejo? I know hes smaller, but at least hes an actual LB,.

EJ's both, he started out as a LB but converted in Camp to a TE back up when they weren't sure about Heap being able to play.

He's been cut a several times do to space restrictions but I think the word is that he's a hard worker who's been getting better.

Keep in mind that Antwan Barnes has also already been ruled out if I'm not mistakened so even if Suggs does play, we will be seeing McClain and Jones I'm sure.

And don't forget as well that Edgar came into the league as a linebacker, but from where he played TE early in his football career and with the injuries to Heap and Wilcox before the season, the team made the decision to convert him to TE.

QFT. We'll see alot of both of them if Suggs doesn't play at all. It makes more sense to sub them in to suit their strengths. It doesn't matter who starts.

And secondly, you're right. Jones is a linebacker. If we play Ed Reed at wide reciever for a few plays, he's still a safety. Jones just changed his number so he didn't have to report his eligibility everytime he came into play TE. It makes more sense really.

Jameel McClain is tied for the most safeties in a season with 2. The most safeties in NFL history is 4 from Ted Hendricks, and Doug English. Jameel could break the safeties record. I think Jameel could be a great starter in the NFL, I think he will do good this week.

that is pretty crazy that he has two already. Were they both on special teams or was one on defense? I know one was a blocked punt.

I believe his second one was when he sacked a QB in the endzone, but I forget who it was.
Yep. His celebration right after was runny. Trevor Pryce had to calm him down, lol
Talkin about funny celebrations.. do you remember TSizzles celebration after his pick six in Miami earlier in the season.. that was probably the worst/funniest celebration I have ever seen in my life.

But i Think we should start Mcclain over Edgar Jones

Yeah it was, because I remember him talking about his dance saying something like-

"I was going to jump in the stands but I thought that would piss of the fans too much so i just threw the ball down and did something stupid"

I think it would have ticked off mroe than the fans... i.e. Huge fine and possible suspension

EJ's got a lot of potential, but he's still very raw. I would rather see McClain out there; but then again, the coaches would know a lot better than we do of who's the best option, so I'll be okay with whoever is on the field.

How is McClain listed on the injury report? And how current is Madden 09 on that? I played tonight and EJ was my 2nd fullback behind neal.
