Offensive line beat up, receivers struggle to get open, QB has a banged up throwing shoulder and didn't practice this week......what do we do???? Throw 44 passes to only 12 rushing calls.

COACHING IS THE TEAMS BIGGEST PROBLEM. You can't even get a good read on the true talent level of our players because of the poor coaching they're receiving, it appears problems are everywhere and with all parts of the team because of poor coaching. One could blame Ozzie and claim a lack of talent on the team, but with the execution so poor and the same problems popping up week after week it would be just foolish to just look at the talent when it's not being developed to it's highest potential.

Coaches should put players in the best position to succeed... Did our coaches do that with flacco today??? 44 passes to only 12 rushes in another close game....we are not playing ravens football right now

You go right ahead call for Harbaugh's head. How would you like Billick back when we win season and lose the first round in playoffs?

5-11 or worse harbs is out! period.

Now, Given a competent QB Billick could get it done! Billick with Joe Flacco would be interesting! Billick got it done with a broke down McNair and we would have beat the colts in the playoffs if McNair could throw the ball more than 20yards down the field.

Billick and Newsome was a good combo and I think Billick could maximize Flacco by simply calling the plays himself. 2007 5-11 was simply an injury disaster coming off of 13-3 and tempers were shorts.

Why hasn't a team called him in like ten years again?

1. Coaching is PART of the problem, but then again, if we are saying that our coaches are constantly holding our players back, then why is it that so many of our players leave for larger contracts elsewhere and practically never live up to them? Wouldn't that indicate that, in a lot of instances, our coaches are making less talented players look good?

2. I mean I get we need more balance, but what did anybody see to think that we were going to succeed running the ball today? Their Dline completely punked our Oline for most of the game, and I have zero interest in running the ball more when you're averaging like a yard a carry. Its just a waste of a play. The defense isn't going to start playing closer to the line of scrimmage when they know they can stop the run with a 5-6 man front consistently.

I support running the ball more when you're averaging like 7 YPC against Cleveland, but I have zero clue why people thought we would succeed today with more carries.

In order to achieve balance and make teams "respect the run", it takes a lot more than just volume. You actually have to be effective at it, at least sometimes.

Umm no. Bill Cowher gets calls on a yearly basis. Billick does not.

There's a huge difference there. This isn't a case where he's turning down offers because he likes his TV gig or he's getting offers from situations he doesn't want to be in. Literally nobody is calling.

how do you know?... you have a link to a website that shows Billick wasn't/hasn't been wanted, lol?

why would Billick not have been wanted as he was OC for the 98 Vikings, won a superbowl, and went 13-3 in 2006 with an injured QB...he proved he just/only needed a competent QB to win.

There's like a million sources. Beat writers for every team with a HC vacancy report the people they interview on a weekly basis, because its largely public information. I don't ever recall seeing Billick on any interview list. You mean in the last 8 years there wasn't a single vacancy that he wanted to take? Do we really need to run down the list of teams with competent QBs who have had HC turnover during that period?

People don't want him because they learned their lesson. He was the OC for a team with a ton of great offensive players and was the HC for the best defense in NFL history arguably. When neither of those things happened, he was the definition of pedestrian.

There's like a half dozen other offensive-minded coaches you could get that would make more sense than him.

The o-line was making zero openings for the RB's

12 carries only 10 called runs is nowhere near enough especially for this struggling offense...you do know you have to stay committed to the run as short gains become chunk gains as the game goes on and also time of possession is important...we had a huge gain called back for holding and never went back to it afterwards...plus west only 8 carries with how he's been playing and the circumstances of the line coming in is inexcusable

Brian billick with all his faults is superior to harbaugh, his teams only lacked competent QB play and were always exciting to watch( at least defensively) and they also played with a lot of heart

Brian billick got paid to not coach for a few years by the ravens after getting fired because he signed his extension only 1 year prior when we went 13-3....superbowl winning coaches like billick ,gruden, cowher, dungy...etc. Won't usually take interviews for certain jobs because with their resumes they look to exert more control on personal decisions....Coaches on this level avoid bad organizations as they can ruin their reps( think mike holgrem browns...shanahan... joe gibbs redskins)that help them maintain cushy network jobs

True, but even Billick has said it was a mistake for him to take over play calling so I doubt he'd come back and do it again. I'm glad I had to work today, sounds like I missed another horrible game.

they lacked competent qb play because billick pounded the table for kyle boller and forced him on the field after it was far beyond obvious that he was never gonna develop.

incompetent qb play was a DIRECT RESULT of billicks coaching. billick also lost the locker room for a long time, it just took a 5-11 season for it to really come to light. for a while billick was just kinda there, standing on the sidelines, while the team coached itself.

Just to recall you guys about the Ravens' tradition is the stability on FO and HC. I don't see any change at HC until John runs the team down the drain in next 2 years. That's y Ravens HC position is one of the hottest jobs out there if it's ever available....

Losing all time MLB and FS took the big hit on the coaching on the field in term of leadership and morale.....

PS: I don't think John will run the team down-spiral in the next 2 years away.  We should turn the losing team around to winning after the bye and of course with our starters back to the line-up...

If you fire offensive coordinator and their is no improvement next one to go is the coach and if still no improvememt next it is the GM.  If we end up winning less than 7 games I can't see Harbaigh keeping his job.  Ozzie and the rest of the front office could be gone after the following year if we have another 6 wins or fewer season.  Three straight pathetic seasons and tickets won't be a hot commodity anymore.

Harbaugh is a losing season away from getting fired .

So I expect him gone after this year .

That would be a big mistake. Biscotti is one step further becoming the next Peter Angelos if he fires harbaugh. But Peter Angelos will never fire Buck Showalter when O's fail to play in one World Series game ever since he's been here in 2010. But Harbaugh has took Ravens more playoff games and gave us a world championship than Buck Showalter when he managed the O's.

The thing about Harbs is he is a motivator and he coaches with fire. I honestly haven't seen his fire lately. It's like he's so speechless over the dumb plays that it's affecting him. Since he's a motivator more than a tactician the players need to be fired up and they aren't. He needs to get the players onboard.

If we don't turn this season around and make the playoffs I'd think Steve and Ozzie would at very least have all eyes on Harbaugh if not fullblown fire him. Harbs has been more of a spiritual leader and special teams guide, and relies on his assistants and position coaches to get it done on Sundays, but for whatever reason, even through quite a few questionable calls throughout his career (a couple this season), he has been a great leader and has made it a a fun nearly 10 year run chocked full of fun playoff runs and a superbowl win, although the last 3/5  seasons have been a little underwhelming and have made us spoiled Ravens fans a little aggravated.

This would mark 3 straight subpar seasons so I think it might be time to make some changes, although I'd rather see a new offensive system installed than a full on Harbaugh firing. Realistically the Baltimore Ravens offense has never excelled at anything aside from being a balanced run heavy attack, but obviously alot of success including  2 superbowls have come along with those typically so-so offenses so only a spoiled fan would truly complain. It would be nice to put a good chunk of emphasis on looking our offense at its core and look to install the best possible system for our success rather than keep this same vanilla system.

There is blame to be placed all over this team, from a historically bad bout with injuries, to drafting/off season signings, lack of talent, coaching and downright execution out there on game day. Despite a hot star to the season we are pretty awful in a lot of different places this year.  The only area that gets more neglect than our offense is our secondary which doesnt have a hope in the world without Jimmy Smith.

Our offense is what needs the most TLC, so if I was Steve I would step in and instead of firing Harbaugh find a new OC who can do more with what we've got on offense. I've never been a fan or Marty Mornenwhig, and I'm tired of paying $120M just so we can be run heavy year after year. Flacco ain't great but we should be able to get more production out of him than this.

It is funny.
People here talk about cleaning house.  Harbs, Ozzie, Pees, and Marty on down the line.
That would be completely insane.  It would take so many years to rebuild after such a shake up. ( see Browns )
The best H.C.'s, GM's, OC's and DC's are not going to come flocking to Baltimore to get in line for an interview.  Many of the best are under long term contracts and sometimes love the organisations they work for.  It is not like Biscotti is going to stroke a half a dozen checks and and we will have a world class staff.  It just doesn't happen that way.  That is not the real world.

@BmoreBird22 On another note, me and you were talking about stocking up on CBs like the Vikings and Bengals and it got me thinking, why not stock up on OLs? Like why not try to build a monster and insane offensive line? I know we need a CB and a Pass Rusher bad, like ASAP but Quenton Nelson looks like a stud. He looks like a sure fire guy and we need impact players on this team bad. I personally think LG could be an underrated need soon. I don't think the team is and should be satisfied with either Jensen or Urschel as the starter next year and it seems like Alex Lewis future is at RT rather than RG, it just seems that way with Rick Wagner unlikely to return. I don't feel good about Center since the FA group isn't that good and we likely won't be taking one top 3, in that instance getting someone at LG of Nelson's caliber would relieve the biggest weakness on the OL(Center). Stanley-Nelson-Draft Pick-Yanda-Lewis sounds like a really good line up. If Stanley can play like a top 10 LT, and Nelson can have a Zack Martin like rookie year, including Lewis's potential breakout with Yanda's greatness, then we should put out one of the best OLs since 2014, even with the weak spot at Center. Of course this is assumed by the idea that there are no CBs or OLBs that we can possibly find out there to our liking. If there is no CB or OLB out there, then Nelson is absolutely my guy.

I think what Joe needs is an OL, any QB plays better with one. Why not go hard at the offensive line and invest heavily there? Just go full Dallas Cowboys mode and draft OL back to back 1st round. It's worked like a charm for them. Atlanta is a team that invested highly into the OL and it has paid significant dividends for them as well.

If I'm Harbaugh or Ozzie, I'm looking at the OL and thinking about building a serious monster there.

It doesn't even stop there...I started getting really crazy lol and thought this...what if...just what if the Bears just decided it wasn't worth paying Alshon 13M a year and let him hit FA and we just decided screw it and signed him. With an OL like the one I listed, a player the caliber of Alshon Jeffery, combined with our speed at WR with Breshad Perriman and Mike Wallace, the emergence Terrence West, and that elite monstrosity of an offensive line? Please! Please! Even the elite of elite defenses would be tossing and turning at night trying to figure out how to stop an offense like that.

Just a thought honestly. Don't take it seriously lol.

There is no good oline depth. It doesn't exist anymore. In this era, Ryan Jensen and John Urschel are about as good as it gets when it comes to finding backups. The talent level at offensive line is at an all time low across the league. We can try and stockpile OL but it just won't work.

Not only that, but the bigger issue is the severe reduction in contact practices at the high school and college level.

Linemen truly need those contact practices to refine their craft, and the loss of those is killing the Future Trench Workers of America.
