Young is a better option at outside corner. That's not to say Young is built for the outside, it speaks more about how bad Wright is.

Young is the same size as V. Hargreaves, I'd give Young a chance outside.

Things we need to do:

1. Keep Perriman in as the #3 WR, let him go through his growing pains

2. Bench Za'darius and put Judon in

Young's skill set may be better suited to the slot, but he could kick it to the outside. He's looking like the steal of the draft so far.

The giants pass rush concerns me the most. I think we can at least contain their WRs. If we can protect flacco and have decent running success I like our chances.

Oh, and maybe not take points off the board please...............?

Giants pass rush is least concerning, I'm more worried about Janoris Jenkins, guy played amazing last game. I'm more worried about their secondary, Jenkins, Apple, and Cromartie create a great duo.

I think you guys are saying this, but it doesn't have to be outside or inside for Young, it can be both if he kicks inside for the nickel as Webb did for years.

I agree. Those would be the best moves to make for this upcoming game imo.

Jenkins will be a problem, but Apple and DRC seem to have gotten banged up against the Packers. DRC apparently played through the injury but Apple had to leave. Not to discredit their defense however, because they will eat our line alive if we send out the same unit

I say that because of the state of our oline more than anything. Their dbs can be beaten. I want to see a heavy dose of running the ball, their d is below average against the run.

I mean, Za'Darius clearly does nothing in the pass rush unless it's a coverage pressure/sack resulting from his endless effort. I know Harbaugh likes to punish guys for not contributing to special teams, but with how bad our ST unit is already, how much worse could it really get? Leave Carter inactive and activate Judon--then you'll actually have a pass-rusher who is capable of getting instant pressure on the QB.

Well, maybe.

I remember us saying that it "couldn't get much worse" in regards to our secondary in 2014, and then a bunch of starters that weren't playing well got injured, and reserves of reserves started playing.

And what do you know... it got worse. A lot worse.

I certainly don't think Judon qualifies as the kind of rusher who's guaranteed to get "instant pressure". He may be slightly better than ZaDarius at this point, but I'm not seeing a huge gap in production there. I get that Judon is a fanboard darling, but those guys tend to not live up to the hype from fans more often than they do.

Except that in limited action he has shown a much better knack for getting to the qb than Smith, who has done absolutely nothing. He doesnt know what he's doing, he's in 40 yard dash mode when the ball is snapped. Judon bends and holds up when engaged. Zds takes himself out of the play.

You know who no one is talking about again that is doing a phenomenal job?

Lawrence Guy.  He has to be the most underappreciated and underpaid lineman out there.   So glad we grabbed him, and has been consistently been producing for good while now.

Sheldon Price going on IR disappoints me (though he barely played vs Wash., he contributed on ST weekly iirc). I really liked the way our secondary played vs Wash., outside of Jimmy who just had a bad game by his standards. Maybe they can still use Wright as a #2 CB who plays both outside and inside, since I'd rather give him snaps over Wright no matter where he's lined up.

We were 3-0 when Judon was active and have lost both games he has been inactive.. I know people will say its just coincidence but I say we test that theory this weekend and activate the man!

I can see your point but they have no pass rush at all outside of their interior. That's literally where all their pass rush comes from. I respect Pierre Paul and Vernon, but if anything scares me it's their secondary(if healthy).

I appreciate Za'Darius Motor and relentlessness but in all honesty motor is not what mainly gets the job done. You always would love a guy with a great motor but that's not all there is to it and Za'darius is just an example of that IMO. Coaches see these guys way more than us so they have a good indication of who deserves to see the field but right now 5 games in, you're looking at the pass rush as a problem for the defense, not run stopping. If you look at Judon and Za'Darius and had to evaluate who brings you better pass rush, than you go with who in your mind is the best bet. It's Za'darius job to lose but I really think his grip is slipping.

This could be a breakout game for the ravens as a team. And individual performances respectively. If Judon gets reps the defense has an opportunity with the giants problems at the offensive line. Tavon Young is a baller. He plays with aggression and pride. His only shortcoming is he is considered short at just under 5'10. OBJ is only 5'11. If coaching could give Young the opportunity to guard OBJ. This could be the game he gets recognized as not only a dynamic rookie. But one of the better cornerbacks in the league 5'10 and smaller. The Defense can earn respect in this game with the Giants.

On offense the WRs can redeem themselves agains a feared giants secondary. Forgive me if I'm wrong but didn't Moore beat Apple for a big play? I think Apple is the first round cornerback. If the WRs make plays on this defense. it will arrest the criticism of Flacco and the WRs that fans discuss at the water coolers.

I don't and didn't like the Hester signing from day one. Kendrick Lewis is awful. Hurst is awful. West looks good but he scares me with ball security. Moore and Perriman need to step up. Williams at TE is disappointing so far but he is young and has flashed potential. Waller may be all hype no show, or maybe he just isn't given a chance. Boyle looked good but was that PEDs? I think Wallace is not a complete WR and we can expect more let downs from him. And Z Smith flashed in pre season and hasn't shown anything so far, none of our edge rushers have.

Pretty sure the entire fanbase wrote off Arthur Brown at least a full year ago, and he wasn't cut until a few months ago.

And I dare mention Kyle Boller in this regard... we knew he wasn't good a full two years before we cut him.

Absolutely. Orr has had a great start as well. Along with Cj. Very pleased with these guys. Had cj just held onto the ball with two hands he would have been the hero and ppl would be raving about him right now. 3 amazing interceptions after struggling mightily in coverage last year. Anxious and nervous to see the injury report.

Except We've heard that every single week. " could be a breakout game" ...

Let's just wait until it actually happens.

i just don't believe in the John Harbaugh- joe flacco era anymore. The record of 26-27 with 3 out of 4 missed playoffs ( almost 4 out of 4 if not for kansas doing us a huge favor) tells me that this franchise is on a downward spiral and until those two are gone its not going to get better..it will continue to languish in the average tier of the NFL.

Ravens' WR update: Steve Smith (ankle) not practicing Wednesday and Mike Wallace (ribs) wearing red non-contact jersey

Mornhinweg and the offense could have their work cut out for them if these 2 can't play!

ronnie stanley still not practicing.

didnt harbs say that '' he could have played vs oakland''

The injury bug has hit and at the worst time possible. CJ is such a dumbo for not just running out of bounds. Not only does he lose the game for us he injures himself :/
