[News] Ravens Send Tight End Maxx Williams To Injured Reserve

31 posts in this topic

Williams has been dealing with a knee issue that ‘can’t be fixed until it’s fixed,’ according to Head Coach John Harbaugh. Baltimore has not made any corresponding roster move yet, but could activate tight end Darren Waller to the 53-man roster.

Thought this was coming with him having knee issues all preseason. Now this past week and timely getting Waller back.... next man up! Waller's turn...

I thought the Brown move was premature. I think we'd all like to see Waller in there. But with Pitta and Gilmore, his snaps will be limited.

Definitely saw it coming but sounds like Waller has to out perform Brown... The spot won't just be handed to him

I said they would put Williams on IR two days ago when everyone was having cows over activating Daniel Brown to fill Forsett's spot and everyone was clamoring over what they will do when Waller comes off his suspension. When the Ravens have been in this position before they wait until the last minute because the suspended players get a roster waiver for a week and the Ravens don't have to make a decision until Saturday night. I guess it is some sort of super secret NFL subterfuge to fake out the other team, but if they didn't fake out someone who just reads the web site, they certainly didn't fool the Redskins who I am sure knew exactly what they were doing.

Every team does it

I don't think they care if anyone knows what they are doing. It really doesn't have that great of a impact on anything.

Waller makes us more dangerous and more diverse immediately. Not sure how many snaps he will see but I bet if the deadskins sit in two deep he will be used to bust the seams quite often. Pitta will still be the guy to move the chains but Waller allows us to attack a defense differently and as a result our RB's should have a big day on Sunday!

Mad maxx hasnt done much lately so this isnt much of a loss, with Brown activated.

Sounds like Coach Horrible, Im mean Harbaugh sitting Stanley out another week..Ugh! When he said he could play.
Looks like Lewis at LT, hopefully Uerschel at G

And Judon must be active..need that pass rush

"Waller makes us more dangerous and more diverse immediately"

Really? ... Based on what?
His performance in the pre-season going against 2nd & 3rd stringers?

I hope he does well, but it's too early to jump to conclusions like that.

Well see. Don't think it has anything to do with out performing Brown, as he seems to make the roster for an extra blocker, being a heavier player. Waller vs a 3rd running back is basically the decision that needs to be made now. That creates some interesting competition with Dixon returning to practice and Buck Allen getting a bit of a taste of game action last week.

He was only 21 when he got drafted, so luckily he will come back next year and still be as young as a typical rookie. He'll be good, wait and see.

Coach Horrible? Really?
Hope you were joking.

trestman has no clue what to do with all of these te's anyhow so a good move for maxx to get to 100% next year and do what we drafted him to do. he will be a good one.

Hard to tell that since we only throw to one TE and that is Pitta.

After all that Pitta has gone through he deserves to have a great season and catch everything thrown his way.

Maybe Harbs is gonna line up two TE's to the left of Zuttah to keep Flacco upright.....perhaps 7 O-linemen can block 4 rushers, maybe.

Surely Hurst can't stop anyone.  Suddenly, Zuttah is not looking so good either.

Get well soon Big Maxx Williams AKA B M W! The TEs are the key to the passing game because they can get the mismatches down field either a slower LBer or a smaller DB! In the Super Bowl against the 49ers Joe creamed them with Ed Dickinson and Pitta! Someone please show Trestman the highlights and he will figure Joe out because throwing short passes like brady does to our Defense is not working for Joe! SLING THAT ROCK SUNDAY and let T West and K D finish them off! WE THE BEST!

Gonna suck for DB if they end up activating waller instead tommorow. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions. He's been promoted and demoted more times than I can count. Whoever can play better on special teams will get the nod- all signs pointing to Waller.

anybody that knows of me on here, knows that I've been pushing for Daniel Brown to get on the field for the longest. Although I know he would be more valuable at WR, idc if he is playing as TE. However we can get him on the field, just get him out there. And if im right and Daniel Brown ends up a stud, Harbaugh should def be fired.

Harbaugh should be fired when he's the one who brought him up to the active roster and gave him a shot?

We know of you on here, and as usual you are wrong.
This time about Daniel Brown.

Have nothing against Daniel Brown, love his size/speed and want to see him succeed.
I still think the reason he was brought up is because someone was interested in signing him off our practice squad and we had no choice but to put him on the 53 or risk losing him.
