34 posts in this topic

Who would you rather have: Kirk Cousins or Joe Flacco? No, Ravens-Redskins does not constitute a rivalry. Instead of James Hurst, could Alex Lewis fill in for Ronnie Stanley? Matchup to watch: Steve Smith vs. Josh Norman.

My wife & I have noticed our guys "play to prediction." If they're predicted winners, as they have been in all games so far this season, they start slow and end up in a close game. If they're predicted underdogs, they come out of the box fighting and are a good bet to score an upset over anybody in the league.

So the question is, how do we get these guys to start playing right from the kickoff?

What's the story with John Urschel? He couldn't play LG any worse than Ryan Jensen. Why is Hurst still occupying a roster spot?

I have been wondering that too. He's not on the injury report any more. I'd like to see him at Left Guard or Center. If Stanley can't go we need to put Alex Lewis at LT. Hurst got pushed back it seemed like on every passing play. When Stanley gets Healthy, they need to put Urschel at Center.

I am in the same boat as you. Whats the story with Urschel? He is a better center than Zuttah but is being ignored, he is better than Jensen at guard and he is being ignored. He has been a full participant in practice but inactive during games. My theory based on Harbaugh; Urschel must be in the doghouse. He must have studied too much math over the summer and not football and that ticked off Harbaugh, or Urschel may not play special teams which you know ticks off Harbaugh, or he is an NFLPA rep that routinely busts Harbaugh for breaking CBA rules and ticks off Harbaugh.

If he was hurt, like earlier I would buy into his being inactive, but he has been practicing at full bore for over two weeks now and has yet to be active. There is something going on here, what it is ain't exactly clear. But I have a feeling based on previous history with our head coach.

Ravens/Redskins is not a rivalry as far as the organizations go. Ravens have three legitimate rivals: Steelers, Bengals, Patriots.

However, there is somewhat of a fan rivalry between the Ravens and Redskins. A lot of people jumped over to the Redskins when the Colts left. This cause a two-way dislike: Ravens fans dislike Redskins fans for jumping ship and helping keep a team out of Baltimore for 12 years; and Redskins fans dislike Ravens fans because they feel like they are a target of Ravens fans (also because their team has mostly sucked for the last 15 years, while the Ravens have enjoyed success).

I haven't been to a game since Flacco's rookie season and finally going to one Sunday and I cannot wait. It should be a great game rivalry or not

I watched the Steelers run all over the Redskins with power football. Kept asking myself "where are the BIG defensive linemen for Washington?". The Steelers just pushed their d-linemen back and marched down the field. We should be doing that all game with West and Dixon. It just comes down to whether our O-Line has the capability.

You do realize that running the ball would make sense?

Wondering if Flacco is on the downside? I know he was injured and rehabbed during the off season but he hasn't thrown the ball well this season. All his throws are underneath and many are underthrown or otherwise off target. Hope not but he doesn't look good to me. Those last 4 throws against the Raiders were an example. The last one to Aiken looked to be on target but he was triple teamed (low percentage). The ball should have gone to someone else.

Am completely happy with Joe Flacco as quarterback and can't see us having anyone else. Not Cousins or anyone. I love his cool and his bionic arm...dananananana (only us old people will understand that reference).

Not happy with offense but I wouldn't pin point it on any specific players because it seems more complex an issue and they just need to play better imo, but they'd have to figure out how to do that. Ofc I believe in the run game and that we are not utilizing it to our advantage. And I also worry about our Oline. But I'm not on the fire Trestman bandwagon...jobs are too important to all of us I don't wish anyone to lose their job. I know it happens especially in the NFL but I don't will it on people. I think he has time (to see these Offense issues improve) because after all, we are 3-1... so a bit early to panic on any front imo. But I def feel the O needs to step up, and like...now.

So pundits picked us to win, I also feel we come in this the stronger team. But I know it's going to be a challenge. Washington is like Oakland...defense not good but offense is a top 10 team in total offense. However...our defense is very tough so I think we can pull this one off if our D holds them (but not get penalized for holding!!!), and THEN we head into the nitty gritty portion of season (road trips to NY 'start spreading the news' and then playing our divisional teams plus NE 'it's all about the Brady') where we must play better than we have been thus far. Oh yeah...and please beat the Cowboys week 11 I'll never hear end of it from my dad. We almost were going to go see that game live but decided, nah cause one of us would leave that stadium unhappy lol. And would have to put up with the "happy one" lol. But seriously, we are not THAT bad about one team losing. Cowboys are my second team, Ravens are his second team (then we hate all the rest). Ah such a bittersweet game that will be. But truth be told, I don't like watching the Cowboys play all that much I usually fall asleep watching their games LOL, because they run the ball up the middle so often...borrrriiinnng. And the expressionless Garrett lulls me to sleep.
Is that guy a zen yoga master or what? He ought to enter poker tournaments no one would ever guess his hand.

~ Ravenshine over and out until next week. Oh yeah...we'll be 4-1 by this time next week ?

The Flacco vs Cousins tag in this article is plain ludicrous, sorry Sarah, you can do better than that...

I don't see where it could hurt putting Lewis in at LT, because Hurst just looks plain bad out there. I was willing to give Hurst the benefit of the doubt last week, but he nearly got Flacco killed yet once again. Dude looks like he's lost all ability to play in the league, so at this point I think the Raven's need to try something different, I don't think Lewis could be that worse than Hurst in any case...

He is not in the "doghouse". He has just been beaten out by better players. Both Jensen and Lewis have jumped him on the depth chart. They are much stronger at the point of a attack (Urschel was on skates when he played last year) but as others have said Urschel couldn't do any worse than Jensen at this point. I am not sure how you (or anyone else) came to the conclusion that he is better than Jensen and Zuttah. Is that based on last years performance or pre season? He was absolutely terrible last year. Jensen and Zuttah were clearly better than him then. There seems to be some revisionist history about his ability as an interior lineman. All of the publicity hr has gotten in the offseason seams to have made people forget about his poor play.  I mean its a great story but being a mathematician doesn't make you any stronger or more athletic.

When the OC decides to commit to the run, and do so from a running formation (not shotgun-based draws or tosses), a depleted O-Line proved they could get the job done at least against one of the worst rush defenses in the league.  That tells me a few things.  One, the Ravens organization drafts guys to be able to run the ball.  Two, Trestman entered the game last week with a flawed, scripted game plan and stuck with it until the 3rd quarter.  Three, if we come out against another bad rushing defense like Washington's like we did in the 3rd quarter last week, West and Dixon should combine for 200 yards a couple of scores, and the game will be well in hand.

Let's see what happens.  No excuses for a repeat of last week.

With the pitifully transparent miscommunication of Perriman's injury last season, Harbaugh and the FO ensured that any injury hhat takes more to heal that first predicted, will automatically be taken as another "Perriman case". I've actually seen stupid comments about fans worring that Stanley may miss the rest of thes season...

I understand your reference. Our offense needs to show up big time this week. Watch out for Cousins. Don't know why he seems to do so well against us. Go Ravens.

Only two got the predictions right last week. With the weapons Washington has this game is going to get ugly and fast.

The mechanical blocking dummies the Steelers used wouldn't do much worse lol

i would like to see greedy goodell schedule the ravens/skins every season. imo it would turn into a strong rivalry with the close proximity too each other. if cousins has the protection carr had last week he could do some damage with the weapons he has. offense really needs to give the defense some rest with long drives and please start out strong for once. we all need a break from the nail biting endings.

Of course, we all know that these predictions mean nothing! I predicted that the Ravens would lose to the Bills...they won! That they would beat the Browns (they had to come back from 20 pts down)...they won! That they would beat the Jaguars...they won and, I predicted that they would beat the Raiders and of course they lost!

The players themselves have to want to show up and want to do their jobs and want to overcome adversity to win these games by any means necessary!  So here is what I predict for Sunday's game; that it will be at M&T Bank Stadium and that the Ravens opponents will be the Washington Redskins. That's all I got! :D

Flacco vs. Cousins? Since when do QB's play all 22 positions? What can a QB do to win a game? Manage the game. Scoring TD's instead of FG's. Eat up the clock and lead the team down the field for a winning score. There are not that many QB's who do that consistently. Wish the Raven's QB would have done that last week....

the first couple of series are scripted, so no matter what the their defense shows, we play our scripted plays. THAT might have something to do with it.

Harbaugh has no dog house. It depends on who does better at practice.
