Five Changes Needed Immediately

177 posts in this topic

The Ravens are in desperate need of change.  Five immediate changes are as follows:

1. Keep two backs in the backfield for run-blocking and pass-blocking.

2. Punt the football out of bounds!

3. Defensive sets to include 4-4 defense with continuous blitz.

4. Pass patterns to include X-and go, hook-ins at hash marks.

5. Pick-up the pace; the Ravens are affected with lethargy - get the lead out!

4-4 means only three DBs. That defense in the modern era would be picked apart.

1. So, only three guys on routes? That's idiotic.

2. Koch is a great punter and does his job well.

3. The 4-4? Also idiotic. You're just inviting the offense to audible to a deep pass. Continuous blitz? Lol. 4-4 defense with continuous blitz? Sounds like my Madden gameplan in 6th grade.

4. Um, we have those...

5. We run hurry up a lot, actually. The issue is converting third downs. But whatever.

Why do I bother?

When they hire you, are you you keeping Harbs around as ST coach or bringing on an entirely new staff?

Harbs is as clean cut as they come in terms of coaching and lives up to his mistakes, like going for two last game.  I would keep him as a ST coach.

I think we've found the next Belichick.

Adjust to the weakness of the other team, the game is simple.

Only one receiver gets the football.  What good is it to send 5 guys down the field when they don't have time to make their cuts?  If Joe has time, he will get the football to the proper receiver or outlet.  Reduce the complexity and increase the blocking.  Koch is a great punter that does an average job.  He continues to punt the football in-bounds allowing returns.  The 4-4 defense will put much needed pressure on the opponent's quarterback and jam up the run.  The Ravens are not bringing the house like they used to in terms of blitzing.  This "bend defense" is ineffective against Tier-1 opponents.  The Ravens neither hurry up enough to make an impact on opponent’s defense nor change the momentum of the game.

Rematch the game against the Raiders.  Don't let that last drive fool you.  The defense did their job, but it won't look so because of the pathetic job by the offense for the first 3 quarters.

This might be one of the dumbest posts in one of the dumbest threads I've ever had the good fortune to laugh at.

They should have Hester wear one shoe that is 10 yards long, that way he can have a foot out of bounds to field kicks that are just in front of the endzone for a touchback.

Imagine trying to return a kick with one shoe like that. Comedy like that would be better than this thread.

The visual on that is awesome.

1. New offensive Coordinator

2. New defensive coordinator

3. Stanley to get back in the starting line up

4. Not letting the opposing QB stand in the pocket for 10 seconds untouched

5. Deep ball

I think adjustments need to be made faster in games. On both side of the ball. On offense we don't change to throwing anything past 15 yards until we are down 2 scores. Once we hit around 4 minutes left of the half you finally see the offense open up and it works we need the deep ball. Then it disappears again until the beginning of the 4th quarter. On defense teams always pick apart the same part of the defense. Changes need to be made quicker we need to start off throwing it deep. We can't abandon the run. We need Dixon to turn into the next Arian Foster for us. (Arian Foster in his prime not Arian Foster in crutches now)

I will agree, that I think we need to step up the pace on offense at times. My only other opinions.

If we are sticking with Wright, we need to adjust a safety to get him more help. He is hurting the team, especially on third and long.

I wish I had a real good answer for Hurst, if they insist that he is our best option when Stanley is out, but they have to have someone in the backfield that can block well if he is in the game.

Personally, I would like to see them get the ball to Juice in motion a few more times a game. The guy is a freight train and has decent hands. It seems he always makes the most of the few plays he gets to touch the ball.

Harbs needs to start calling the offensive plays.

You haven't visited the skins message board have you.  That being said, this is a pretty dumb thread.

You just stated you would keep Harbs as the st coach, yet you want him to call plays now.  That makes a lot of sense.

This week's game is too big for the OC to fool around, Harbs needs to take control of the stick and get this bird flying to capacity.  Playing average will not cut it against hungry teams.  We saw that movie last week.
