Ravens and RB Justin Forsett part ways

93 posts in this topic

Gonna miss Forsett man. While I still think its the right move, he was always such a positive force for the team. He worked hard, and worked well with everyone.

That said, anyone wanna take bets on if he goes to the Skins? They need a good receiving back, but it'd be super awkward to have him come in as an inactive this Sunday

And I think the roster spot either goes to Waller or a reserve OL to be named later

Hes a class act. It sucks that you have to see the good guys go sometimes, but he just isn't performing and we have better options and honestly it's long overdue.

Best of luck Justin, going to miss you. I hope you land somewhere soon and make a difference for them. Just not in the AFC North ok.

Its sad to see someone as classy as Forsett cut but thats the business side of things. He can still produce behind a strong oline and I wish him the best.

Forgot Tali was on the team, heh. That's freaking interesting, man.

I really hope they add Tali to the 53 man roster.  He's got so much potential, just don't see where he would fit in though.

Sucks to see him go, he was money for us and obviously a great guy. That 2014 season goes a lot differently without our Pro Bowl RB making plays late in games.

I think Tali has missed his chance. West has taken over as the current starter and Dixon will probably bet a third down back making the big plays. Not much room for Tali anymore.

Agree. No consistency whatsoever and often injured.

From a Cap perspective, nothing is likely to change. Forsett stays on the Cap at $3M and is entitled to termination pay, meaning he can request payment of the balance of that $3M salary. He has until the end of the season to elect to take it (players can only do so once in their careers). If he for some reason doesn’t, then the Ravens would get credit of 13/17ths of the $3M in 2017. Assuming there isn’t some agreement not to do so (the working of “parting by mutual agreement” is a bit interesting), he will likely make that election. Since the balance of the $3M continued to count this year, there is no carryover for 2017.

I don't think this is correct.  His salary was only guaranteed if he was on the initial roster.  Since they cut him to do all those IR moves and then brought him back after the initial 53 was set, his salary was no longer guaranteed.  At least that's how I understand it

As long as a vested vet is one the roster for the 1st game, his salary is guaranteed for the year.

As Mod 3 said, the only way a vested veteran's salary is not guaranteed is if he's signed after the 1st game.

That and I have a hunch the RAVENS did him well upon departure.  It just seems like an organisation that would.

not to be mean but he will get his 3 mil,

A journey man with 1, 1 good year, last yr b4 injury he was bad

he is a good guy unfortunately good guys DO NOT win games (unless you are TEBOW)

but his play was not worth it, did anybody watch him run this year,

I wish him the best but he did get his moment to shine

and he did,

thank you officer J.F

More physical, better blocker, I think. And as much as Waller projects to be that insane mismatch, it hasn't materialized. Daniel Brown has produced more and is also a bit of a mismatch.

I never would have bought it in the first place.  But that's me! :D

I'm a Brown fan, but not sure how stable his roster spot will be. Part of me thinks he'll be active this week since he's been able to practice and Waller hasn't. He'll probably be on a pretty short leash though since he can get sent back to the practice squad easier than Waller probably.

Harbaugh actually just mentioned in his presser that Brown has practiced well, particularly on ST.  We all know that can keep a guy around.

That's not surprising. The ST units haven't been as good as they were in the past, so a lot of those last roster spaces will rely almost entirely on ST.

Just because he's no longer on the team doesn't mean you can't wear it.

Its always hard to say goodbye to someone who is such a class act but Justin will land on his feet somewhere. Hopefully, he doesn't land in the AFC North. Its also hard to gage his performance based on three games when our O-line play has been atrocious on both sides. I like Terrance West and Buck Allen but it will be interesting to see how they fare without the competition. Most of Terrance's yardage occurred on the last drive when the Raiders were playing a prevent defense and expecting Joe to throw on every down. We'll see what happens against the Redskins but running the ball just over 35% of the time won't get the job done regardless of whom is carrying the ball. If the Ravens signed Justin as an insurance policy it was an expensive one as they now owe him his entire $3 million salary for the season. With all due respect to Justin and our other backs, what we really needed was another Jamaal Lewis type back like Alabama's Henry or OSU's Elliott. I'm pretty sure Coach Trestman would be calling more running plays if he trusted our backs to make the first tackler miss and gain more yardage. Fix the O-line, Oz! Go get 'em, Justin!!
