Ravens and RB Justin Forsett part ways

Sad to see a good guy go, but this is a move that likely needs to be made.  It's time to go young and let Dixon and West shoulder the load.

Agree with Zrebiec's other tweet... seemed inevitable after going from starter to inactive AND with Dixon coming back.

With Dixon and Waller coming back, seems logical to cut Forsett and send Maxx to IR.

Yep.  Writing was on the wall with him being inactive on Sunday.  Definitely more of a sting on a personal level than a performance level.  You hate to see good guys like Forsett go, but that's the nature of the business.

Hindsight being what it is, might have been better to not resign him at all after cutting him the first time. Probably would have been better off getting a good 4+ week look at West as the primary and even give Allen more snaps.

But it is what it is. At least we're not continuing to throw somebody out there when its clear the young guys behind him are better at this point.

In hindsight, absolutely.  Think they wanted to see West carry it over into real games first before they made the move though.

I just need to know if Justin is the scapegoat for a crap line or if he lost the job due to his own personal limitations?

He can't break tackles or make defenders miss anymore.

It's not a scapegoat thing.  The OL was a big problem but Forsett just wasn't playing well.  Wasn't hitting the holes, wasn't making guys miss.  Unfortunate, but he just didn't have it this year.

Was hoping he'd have a good year but the writing was on the wall.  Classy man and thankful he was here to help the running game for a bit.

It's being reported that Forsett asked for his release and was granted it by Ozzie.  Said he still thinks he can play and wants an opportunity to do so.  I respect that greatly.  Hard to ask a veteran to sit on the sidelines in street clothes all year.  Good move, and you can tell it was done with respect by both sides.

Just got a notification about this. I can pretty much echo my sentiments from when he was previously released.  He's an outstanding person, well liked in the lock room and respected but I've always felt once Kubiak was gone Forsett probably should have been as well.

Thank you for your time with the Ravens.

I'd say it's why I don't buy rookie jerseys or guys who have only been there for less than 3 full yrs.

As a fan I am disappointed but it makes sense.

I wish him all the best. Hopefully he plays somewhere.

He'll definitely get picked up, but he's no longer the main guy. Does Denver need another RB? Lol

Agree with this 100%.

Total class act, I hope this works out for him.

The oline is playing bad, but Forsett isn't a scapegoat by any means he's career journeyman that had an outstanding season a few years ago, he was never going to be the long term solution.

But I give him props for having that career year when the team really needed him, he was basically brought in because he knew Kubiak's offense and Ray rice was suspended 2 games, but he outperformed B.Pierce and well the Rice situation.

It's not that he just not a good fit in The Ravens run blocking scheme which is not the same as what Gary Kubiak ran in 2014

Unless the jersey is really cheap, you're some sort of Ravens jersey collector or you just have the money then imo jersey purchases should be very selective.

Forsett jersey isn't one I think would  purchase after one outlier season of success in Ravens jersey. Of course it would be different if he were a rookie and not a 30 year old journeyman.

Its not the same as getting a S.Smith Ravens jersey a player that has been to multiple pro bowls etc.

But your original statement is true especially when it comes to the Ravens. I mean we don't get to sign a lot of players to second contracts and I'm sure a number of fans bought their jerseys guys like McPhee, T.Smith, Osemele, Upshaw, A.Jones, Kruger, Ellerbe.

Been put through a lot.  Hope his contract was guaranteed cause he exceeded expectations and probably provided much assistance with the young guys development.

Looks like he could land on his feet fairly quickly.
