[News] John Harbaugh Confident Ravens Can Have An 'Excellent Offense'

56 posts in this topic

The Ravens are tied for 19th in the NFL in yards per game and 18th in points per game. Head Coach John Harbaugh feels the offense can still take off if it cleans up some of the self-inflicted wounds and figure out who does what best in the passing game.

Dixon yes. Waller doubtful.

I wouldnt be so sure. Esp considering maxxs latest injury. Haven't been getting much production outside of pitta and wallers size and speed could provide a spark. Not to mention we really only have 5 wrs not including Hester- and he's kind of like a hybrid type who can line up in that position as well. Wouldn't suprise me one bit to see him activated.

A lot of jibberish and nonsense from Harbaugh as usual. "Tough this" Were going to "Fix" that..

Harbaugh needs to tell Trestman look "Too many passes, your going to kill our franchise Qb" "7 runs to 21 passes in the 1st hlf are unacceptable" Need more balance. And if it continues your out.

Trestman has to be on a short leash.. and as pointed out by the asteamed "Lantern" Jerry Coleman, Marty Mourningweig is on the offensive staff a very successful OC in his own right in philly years. Easily could replace Trestman during a bye week or earlier if Trestman keeps up with 50 passes a game and the offense continues to show no progress.

We have an excellent offense !
What's needed is an excellent Offensive Coordinator, that knows what to do with excellent talent!

Time to let Joe have a bigger influence in the play calling department. He's out there seeing the field and knows what plays to call. Plus he gets paid to get results.

I wish Joe would be more of a leader I'm sorry but just wish he had brady fire and big ben leadership! It's like he just sits there looking at the big screen and I never see him talking to the O Linemen and his WRs! Ray Ray told the entire team this is Joe Flacco team and he needs to take the reigns and take this team to the next level! EVERYONE I MEAN EVERYONE would listen to him and do what he wants to do but he has to be a force like Ray was and that is what's lacking I feel this team belongs to Joe Flacco and no one else PERIOD!
SPEAK UP JOE PLEEEEEEEEASE! LETS GO!

He's been saying this pretty much after every game for 4 weeks now!  I'll believe it when I see it being done.

the biggest thing is starting out slow, the raiders got up early so the offense had to get away from the run, then they take what teams give them and thats short yardage plays because they clamp down on the long routes, brilliant plan for them and it worked.

the ravens ran into a team that invested big money in their offensive line and it showed,we let our good guys go,not our fault, money game,we choose to be balanced with the money we spend,i don't think ALEX LEWIS or STANLEY were known to be big in the run game, just great at pass protection.well rounded guys like OSEMELE cost big bucks.

They need to start running the ball wayy more, starting THIS WEEK. I could be wrong, but it seems like our run/pass percentage is 20/80. When it should be 50/50 or at least 40/60. Either way this pass happy mode Trestman has us in, and that Harbaugh has allowed to go on is killing us. I mean you gotta be a complete idiot to put your 100 Million dollar QB in harms way by continuously dropping him back in the pocket.

What game was Johnny Boy watching? Flacco No time, offensive line was pathetic. Our next man up? We don't have a next man up on the offensive line. Same plays every week, We are easy to plan for. Defense is better, but once they study our blitz's like yesterday, we don't get no pressure. Oh Harb's better wake up

rewind to almost any post game comments for the past 8 years and the same crap spews out of his mouth. we are working to get better, the offense is ready to break out. there is absolutely no solid play calling or tempo to the offense unless flacco is in no huddle out of the shotgun. the basically waste 30-40 minutes of game time on offense floundering around trying to get something established, when the other teams are ripping these defenses apart. clueless coaching and game planning.

I remember Harbs saying the same thing after we had 9 losses last season bla bla bla.
Next weekend will be the same product. As for BP only playing one preseason game, so what. He drops more balls than he catches. Remember all the hype for this guy.....

I agree our Offense has the chance to be excellent, if they let Flacco call his own plays! Im tired of seeing other teams put up points like they are nothing and now that we finally have the weapons we play this dink and dunk crap until it stalls out or someone makes a big play out of it. If we have any plans on competing in our division let alone the playoffs we need to change our poor excuse of an offense..

bench sharrece wright. thats what can be done, hes given up the most points out of anybody in the entire NFL I bet. We are to deep at the corner position to have to be stuck with his mediocrity.

I knew as soon as we hired Tressmen that it was going to be a colossal mistake. After having the kind of success we had in Kubiak's type of system, why we didn't just promote from within, and keep using that exact same system, is beyond me. Tressman runs a completely different kind of offense, and quite frankly, it's never been a terribly effective offensive style. It certainly isn't "Ravens football". We are not a great team, nor a great offense, but going against the alleged "worst" pass D in the entire league, and NOT repeatedly going deep with the three different deep threat WRs we have? That was just insane. We lost because the offensive gameplan stunk, from beginning of game to the end.

And on the defensive side, while he may rack up some tackles, I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Shareece Wright should not be a starting CB, for any team in the league. Why we ever thought it was a good idea to go with him as a starter, last season, much less this one, is beyond me. At least Cary Williams was physical and could cover sometimes. Wright is not a starter.

I was going to post but I see you beat me to the punch. In 20 years the Ravens have had 1 good OC and we lost him to Denver. It would be nice to have a playmaker at a skilled position. The ravens have no one. As for Shareece Wright, we may be better with 10 defensive players on the field. At least there would be a chance that someone would make a play or at the very least, a tackle.

I have heard all this before. The Ravens don't have the coaches, players, or leadership to be an excellent offense. Some coaching staffs get the most out of the talent they have, the Ravens seem to get the least.

This whole article is nothing but crap. After all this time, money spent and high draft picks made to create a potent offense, we still have none. All this baloney talk about how fast our wide receivers are and how we will be going deep, we have seen absolutely none of that. The majority of passes thrown are either at or behind the line of scrimmage. It is infuriating that on third down, the Ravens always throw short of the first down marker. What the heck good is that? Take notice of what Pittsburgh did to K.C. We are no better than the Chiefs. We had better wake the heck up and win the next 3, because after the break, we get the top teams and man it will be ugly.

I said it when they drafted this guy. He was a ball dropper for a middle of the road school in college so what in the heck did they see in him? He is to the offense what Elam is to the defense, both wasted first round picks. Whomever scouted these guys and recommended drafting them should be fired for incompetence.
