[News] Late For Work 10/3: 9 Takeaways From Ravens' Loss To Oakland Raiders

76 posts in this topic

No pass rush all game.. Pees sat back again...JUDON must be active going forward. Need more blitzes, pressure. Getting Upper echelon Qbs off their spots.

Then Trestman and that horrible Oline. Hurst cant hack it. Need alternatives, and Trestman 50 passes again..allergic to run game when West is running all over the Raiders.

Would like to put a new rule in the NFL rule book that penalizes a team if they throw more than 2 0-3 yard passes. Maybe then the Ravens will take those plays out of their playbook.

Wonder who the Ravens coach is that KO said he was looking forward to getting back at. I suspect it was Juan Castillo, who has often been unpopular wherever he has landed.

I don't know if it is because Hochuli is so recognizable or not but his crews seem to call more penalties than others. Some of those 22 penalties were hard to see. I absolutely hate when they throw a flag on crap like Wallace's 2-point conversion. And some of those holding penalties were weak. (Of course, some were pretty flagrant too.)

Ozzie please get on the phone and call Cleveland ASAP before Thomas is gone. We won't give up a first and they won't settle for a 4th. Work something out in the middle. Heck throw in a young gun or 2. Give Trestman away for free.

Very competitive but...very winnable....especially for a team coming east ...Our guys looked dead tired on Raiders final drive...Carr had time all day to look downfield...on numerous plays the lineman were not getting off on the snap and were not even in a stance....while doing a great job shutting down the running game the front 7 was unable to sustain any type of rush or collapse the pocket. They could have used Judon who unfortunately was a gametime inactive.

Offense had it's moments but self destructed numerous times.....running game never got going until Raiders decided to collapse the pocket ...too many drops (again)...Moore & Perriman....too many penalties.......Joe was not comfortable (I see why) and missed a few things that were there....the difference between the pocket protection was significant...with all that being said if Moore holds on to that ball...we win the game...

Get back at it...stop the mental lapses....come out with some offensive fire on Sunday and get a lead.....

This can be a very good team.......the time is now...

when did west fumble the ball? i don't remember that

It was on his best run of the day, Zuttah was there to fall on it which was the only positive thing he did all day..

The offense is failing to maintain drives and isn't completing downfield passes. I blasted poor Joe in here after the game but what I said was accurate, for the game plan that Trestman utilizes. Trestman has always been a dink and dunk, back out of the backfield, pass underneath play caller. Flacco is notoriously inaccurate when trying to dink and dunk, hit the short passes and any time he has to pull up his arm and throw underneath. Trestman is doing Flacco a tremendous disservice. Joe plays best launching the ball out on 15 yard out routes, not WR screens (that btw only work against us). He likes to hit the tight end on a seam route 30 yards downfield and I have seen him put them in Ed Dicksons and Pittas hands like he was handing them his new baby. Not since Torrey Smith left here have we been able to get a WR behind the corners where Joe loves to throw. Wallace and Perriman's speed is nowhere near as advertised. They have proven they are no faster than any corner we've seen. Joe needs that guy who can stretch the field. This is Joe Flacco of "The Miracle at Mile High". This is no dink and dunk QB. Yes was he known for dumping the ball off to Ray Rice who managed to always dig up yards. And its not to say he can't do it, but that's not his game and until Trestman realizes that he is coaching Flacco and not Cutler, this offense will never be better than pedestrian. If Trestman is this supposed offensive guru I guess it doesn't take much to be smart in the NFL because a child can see this. #FreeFlaccosArm (Listen to poor Joe's press conference where he's begging for plays that get chunk yardage or in the wired segment where he sits beside him in the Cleveland game and tells him we need to go downfield more,. As quiet as Joe is that is tantamount to screaming from a mountaintop for him.)

Nobody wants to address the real problems that were obvious from Sundays game.
1. ALL receivers and running backs MUST catch the ball! its time for them to have a closed door meeting and install some personal fines....rediculous!
2. The defense CANNOT give up a first down on 3rd and 19, 13, 12, 10, 9, 8 yards to go....rediculous
3. The team cannot win when committing too many penalties...bush league

3 dropped passes during the final drive is the reason we lost the game. 19 drops for the season is an absolute embarrassing stat. Joe cannot throw and catch it.

Nine Takeaways....

1. Missed Tackles - Aiken on the punt return, ZDarius on the long run.

2. Penalties - Big run plays, big pass plays all negated by holding penalties. And the Coup de Grace - Wallace's stupid penalty that gave the Raiders the ball on the 33 to start the game winning drive.

3. Ryan Jensen is bad.

4. Jeremy Zuttah is worse

5. West ran well but still has fumbling issues - it's what got him cut from Ten.

6. Steve Smith is a beast.

7. Don't blame Harbaugh for taking the penalty - blame the defense for giving up 24 yards on 3rd & 18.

8. No pass rush = loss.

9. Concussion Protocol claims it's 1st victim. Webb had to sit out and Lewis played out of position otherwise it may have turned out differently. I can see this being an issue - having a team's QB have to take a seat for the last drive because he's being evaluated. What do you think would happen if Tom Brady had to come out for a series and Jimmy G threw a game losing INT.

I doubt that extra 8 yards gained on the kickoff (instead of it being spotted on the 25 yard line if Tucker kicks it OOB), changed the outcome of them scoring on their last TD.

Sorry guys ..I have stated before that it will probably be mid season before everything jells. In the meantime we will continue to win or lose by small margins.
