the RAIDERS came in the most penalized team,i'm sure after 4 games wer'e not far behind,we were at home,no exuse for it,thats on the coaching,we practice with refs so why do we still always committ dumb penalties, that puts you so many yards in the hole already, need to somehow clean that up!

To be fair, Ed Hocoli thinks the show is about him and calls a ton of ticky tack penalties, unless you're oaklands O line, then you can hold some.

Osemele had his day in court...and won. That's reality. BUT...we got Weddle, Wallace and Watson...which have paid off and will continue to pay off. So, yeah that's life in the NFL. We do indeed miss KOs presence, but someone can fill his shoes. The sooner the better.

Games like this can be pivotal for players who need that extra reason to go all out in future games. The lackluster part of earlier games where they spotted the other team points before coming back to win may come to an end. Mistakes including penalties need to be remedied and a loss like this can do the trick. The fact that this team has played slouch teams up to now may have caused some complacency.

we are always touted as having the best coaches in the league,i don't see it with all the penalties, mistakes and little ajustment from quarter to quarter.

Ben puts up big points against a much better team.....

To be fair the chiefs played terrible and are being dominated as a team. Joe hasn't had an easy day so far this year.

I agree... we need to get better at protecting him!

5 Thoughts:

1. We still cannot close out a team - With the game on he line. I am not confident that our defense can make a play to win the game. This is a Baltimore Ravens defense and a team that has invested a ton in that side of the ball. Still not a Pees fan!

2. Where is the pass rush. We passed on a lot of top notch players in the draft in order to build a pass rush and it seemed non existent vs the Raiders. We obviously have people who can get after the QB is it the scheme?

3. I would love to see us go out and get another CB (via trade)? IDK -but I am tired of seeing mediocre WR's like Crabtree burn us repeatedly! SMH

4. What is up with Urschel. Thought he would be inserted and that it would give us some help on the left side of that line. Hope Stanley gets better quickly bc Joe was under constant duress.

5. I wish we would have tried to kick the field goal at the end of the game. I know it would have been a 68 yarder but he does hit them in practice and I think the likelihood of converting a 4down and 10 was not much better. Give Tucker a chance to set the record (even is he missed - the result would have been the same!

The defense won us three games so far this year without a pass rush. Lets give them some credit. Both our sack leaders are dealing with some stuff that they need to come back from. It's going to take some time for them to get it going. I'll give it after the bye and they should be hitting. This is effecting the DB's play forcing them to cover longer than what they should. Trading for a corner is not going to happen. No one trades good corners. We were unsuccessful in trading up to get Ramsey and Norman was wayyy to expensive. I thought Urschel should've played as well and the FG kick I agree with as well.

Space11jams.... I hear you on the defense winning the past three games but we have the talent to do that to the lesser opponents. What about Cincy, Pittsburgh, NE, etc.. If we do not generate more of a pass rush... they wil pick us apart. I agree that an improved pass rush will help out our DBs but this was not Julio Jones, AJ Green or even Antonio Brown lighting us up. It was journeyman Michael Crabtree. I think Pees makes his living off of beating up weaker teams but never matching up with the better teams. Check the records. I really hope he proves me wrong and rewards Harbs for his loyalty but I have my doubts. Finally - Wonder if there is more wrong with Urschel then we are aware??? Cant wait to get Waller in the mix!

I love reading the comments. I believe that most here are right about their assessments but not as much as they are mad about the outcomes sometimes. Here's my take on our team thus far.....(After a day to calm down!)
Joe is a good QB about 2 to 3 out of 5 plays or so on average, but surely is not "Elite".
This is football and there will be pressure (Unless you're Oakland Sunday) and Joe needs to be smarter with the football. One hopping balls and throwing to double/triple covered WR's off your back foot is not Elite, especially after 8 years of some of the best QB coaches in the game helping him. I don't care how much pressure there is. Yes, there were dropped balls and that happens but for someone getting paid over 100million dollars to play a game, I expect more. Actually break down his salary and divide by the amount of plays he makes in live games. It's several thousand dollars for each play. (Probably why a $40 Jersey cost $100 and it's several hundred dollars for two people to actually go to one game but I digress)
Our O-line obviously has some issues and our one normally uncontested "great" line player Yanda is not having great games of late. Jensen and Hurst aren't expected to be all that good, it's why they aren't normally starters and Trestman isn't as bad as he looks. I'm not saying he's the best but you can only do as good as what you have to work with and explaining what he "could have/ should have done", after the fact is not fair to anyone.
Jimmy Smith and Geesh Wright are not great corners and moving Webby to safety didn't do much for us although he finally had a few tackles Sunday, you won't find him on the ground much. You'll see him standing somewhere near the play but not close enough normally to do anything.
There's only 2 offensive guys that consistently block down field, SSS and Pitta. Everyone else just stands there.
Special teams isn't nearly as good as they portray them to be. 2 or 3 good plays out of 3 games is not good ST.
One fan wrote that we look like an 8-8 team and I too believe that's a fair assessment. It may not please the Kool-aid drinkers but at this point, I believe that's fair so let's be real.
One last thing,
When I look at the penalties and see it's usually a multi year veteran, that really ticks me off! You kind of expect it from a 1st year player at times but not from a Vet. That's a problem I think we've always had and I believe it has something to do with "some players" getting a free passes on that stuff. When I asses a player or teams ability, or even a worker in Wal-Mart, I equate it to how much they get paid to do their jobs. Although KO thinks 8 million isn't that much money, most of us won't make that much in a lifetime. If they played just for the "love of the game", I wouldn't complain nearly as much :-)

KidNme...I agree that we need to find ways to generate more of a pass rush... we have invested way too much in that department to not be able to sniff he QB. I thought that Jimmy played well vs Amari Cooper. Shareece.... is a different story. I'm with you on the Webb situation... and I am not sure what to do there... hard to believe that Brooks cant not be at least that good? I think our ST is playing well and probably won two games for us this year but had an off day yesterday. Finally I am going to attribute most of the penalties yesterday to having two replacements on the OL. If the trend continues then Harbs will need to take some ownership there.

The rule the Defense needs to live by is the rule that's always been in place in Baltimore since the early days. "Don't depend or put your faith in the Offense to bail you out." Especially with Trestman as the offensive coordinator.

There is no way Flacco only took 6 hits along with the 2 sacks. He was picking himself off the ground on plenty of pass attempts.  If he threw 52 passes I think it's reasonable to say he finished the play on his backside at least 25% of the time 13 plays.

Maybe hits and late shoves are viewed differently.  Similarly to how dropped pass, stats never make any sense.
