[News] Game Recap: Raiders 28, Ravens 27

52 posts in this topic

The Ravens rallied to come back from an 11-point deficit and looked to be mounting a game-winning drive, but the passing game fell flat at midfield and the Ravens came up short. Baltimore's defense gave up a long, quick game-winning drive to the Raiders in the final minutes.

I honestly had a gut feeling that when Ladarius Webb came out for concussion protocol and we put Kendrick Lewis in the game, I told my wife to watch Derek Carr throw a TD over him smh. Love my team for life, and this is not coming from a place of disrespect, but I knew that would happen. We will rebound flock, keep your heads up!

No idea why Harbs stuck with Hurst, i said Lewis should have gotten the start at LT if he was active....I would have gone Lewis LT,and Urschel at LG.....They left side got blown up all day long, and why Pees goes into prevent when we go up by 7, Raiders didn't go into prevent when we had it last....Lots of blame goes around, but the coaches get the most, as they should know better....The Raiders had their right side with players who were back-ups, and yet they gave Carr a lot of time to throw....This one stings....

That TD was not on lewis. Wright just easily got outmatched. Wright is garbage and crabtree took full advantage of him the entire game

I think the injury bug is still going to linger and the Ravens will be lucky to go 8-8.
Maybe we are looking at the beginning of the end of the Harbaugh/Newsome/Flacco Era. I dont care how much Purple Energy Drink Flacco consumes he is pocket clumsy and with a very mediocre OL he will he may tweak that knee like last year trying to scramble or should I say bumble. And what will be the worst feeling for us Baltimore football fans will be the loss at home to the whinny Snyder team in D.C.
Posted October 2 - Report post- It seems the above post in May is slowly coming true - see how our mediocre OL help blow todays game. See how our mediocre OL is gonna get Flacco hurt again. Please football GODs dont let that horrid team from D.C. come in here and beat us next week.

Just knew that going for two in the second quarter, when it was totally unnecessary, would come back to haunt them. Can we ALL finally admit Flacco sucks.

True, but Lewis is the definite back end safety net in case a play like that occurs. Did you not see how close Lewis was to Crabtree? Safeties are exactly that, they should not allow plays like that to happen.

So we finally have a 100 yd rusher and Flacco throws for nearly 300 and we lose?  Issues in all phases of the game really:

Offense:  O-Line was shaky all day, especially Hurst (no surprise) and Flacco again had a costly turnover

Defense:  NO pressure on the quarterback and Shareece Wright is a liability in coverage

Special Teams:  Kick coverage is terrible

Coaching:  Shouldn't have accepted that penalty in order to push the Raiders to 3rd and long vice 4th down.  They got a TD on the series instead of a FG

Two things lost us that game, coaching and the o-line.

The o-line has been bad all season. Wagner gets beat over and over. Forget the center. Even today with backups the left side was comparable if not better than the right. Yanda has gotten more credit than he deserves. The rookies when they were healthy were actually the stronger side. If they were healthy I think the o-line should be LT Stanley, LG Lewis, C Urschel, RG Zuttah or Jensen, RT Yanda

There were a couple of mismatches that the Raiders took advantage of. First Hurst, if he continues to start, Joe will be on the IR list. Jensen is not much better. The left side got manhandled and that crippled the offense.

Second, they drew a circle around Wright. Crabtree abused him.

In both cases, I waited for the coaches to give them help and it never happened. Their penalties killed drives with false starts and holding. Just terrible effort of that left side.

You would think a smart coach would say, I have two backups starting against good pass rushers. Maybe rollouts, quick slant, screens, crossing routes, commitment to the run would be the focus. But they continue to look for chunk yards.

That's on Joe too. He should be able to read that and adjust protection or the play to beat the rush.

Anyway, we can't afford to pay a QB 120 mil and have him be that inaccurate, miss that many open people and finally unable to get 5 yards in 3 plays. That's all we needed to get Tucker to where he could kick and win the game and we couldn't get 5 yards on 3 plays. Besides Flacco not being able to hit the broad side of a barn, I'm not even sure he sees the barn as bad as he misses it. 3rd and 10, Pitta is wide open and he throws it 5 yards short. Same way all day with passes. He wasn't even close. This was a big game and he acted like who cares. There is a difference in being cool and being apathetic. Any QB who doesn't at least try to do something to fire up his guys and show a little fire at that point isn't cool, he's stupid and a pathetic leader. I usually support Flacco but I just can't make excuses for him anymore. He is still riding the wave of a super bowl win that is already 4 years ago. He routinely is rated as one of the worst QBs in the league, lowest QBR or Passer rating, always one of the lowest rated offenses, lowest completion percentage, third Down percentage, you name it, he leads the league at being worst. No deep balls, no accuracy on short balls, unable to find the open receiver, face it, if he was anyone else's QB we would laugh at him. Flacco is elite has become a joke, why, because it's a joke to everyone that anyone considers him elite. Plenty of blame to go around, no doubts but it doesn't matter about anything, if you tie up that much money in one player who routinely under performs, it leaves you lacking on the roster (like a backup LT). The Ravens have to make a decision because for once we have the offensive weapons and our QB still can't do it. I think the offensive problems of the last 6 years has nothing to do with the running backs, wide receivers, or offensive line. We need a good QB.

Shareeked Wrong. i have more confidence in giving JTuck a shot at a 68yd FG attempt to win the game, than i do with Flacco trying for 4th and long to keep alive

I dont care bout 3-1..if we had a a legit O coordinator, Kubiak,Arians,Gase etc Ravens would be undefeated. Trestman is allergic to Running. West goes over 100 yards and Trestman behind a avg Oline tries to get Flacco killed with 50 passes...

Im so sick to my stomach

The sack pack ain't back. Look at the stats. Goose eggs. The Raiders scored their winning TD way too fast. It was embarrassing. That's when you must take the QB down. No pressure gave Carr the confidence to do it. Joe worked behind a nightmare and nearly pulled it off.

I think that's on Pees. If you look at it, he play a prevent type defense. They were dropping out and sending only 3 or 4 guys. That gave Carr time to watch Crabtree work Wright.

Something is wrong with the offense...we hear its because of all the new parts and Flacco coming off the injury...however it looks like the same old Flacco to me...the receivers have come and gone...the oc has come and gone...the offensive line has come and gone...but Flacco looks about the same with scattered periods of brilliance...and then not so brilliant play...I can't for the life of me understand why he isn't benched during games when he's off...the change would at least give the other team something to figure out...

couldn't agree more...it's like hot and cold running water...when he's on he's really on...when he's off not even a stick of dynamite could lite him up...

We put a solid line in front of Joe and won a Super Bowl. I'm tired of complaining about pass protection.

hopefully the Ravens have found their new starting RB.As far as the offense i would not be surprised if we have a new OC before long. Flacco is an up and down quarterback, far from being elite.

but what's the common denominator? The coaching and staff...they call the plays and train the players...they decide who's on the roster...I'd like to blame a player or 2 but this happens every year...even in 2012 they lost 4 or 5 in a row (I can't remember exactly off the top of my head)...

his attitude is lacking...but it makes me wonder if he's just disgusted or really has bouts of awfulness...

Get real. If you do that you are really not a true fan. They lost so suck it up and move on to the next game. We are 3-1 not 1-3. Lots of games left to play. Hopefully we learn from our mistakes.

Yeah, I saw that coming a mile away as well :/ No idea why they would let Will Hill walk and keep Lewis? But in all fairness, if the Defensive front could have gotten ANY pressure (all day), maybe those guys wouldn't have to be in those positions? I mean, I swear I saw 6 of our defenders being handled by four O Linemen at times! And our O Line was pretty pathetic today. The way we played (and were coached), it's a wonder we were still in this thing all the way down to the end.

I agree with every Joe Flacco bashing here..Because we are fans its hard to accept. Everytime he plays well(which is like once in every 5 games) there will be 10 different articles on this site praising (i.e. look at his opponent today, Raiders won the game just because of him despite our very good defense). Imaging Flacco and this pathetic offense playing against our own defense, I bet offense wouldn't score 15 points all season long!

In the end, I pledge not to praise Flacco or feel good about him anymore, not even if he plays lights out. I have had enough sample size in 9 years to come to conclusion that he is not worth the money he is paid! Ravens organization made a mistake in paying him that much of money!
