The Good, Bad and UGLY week 4 against the Raiders

793 posts in this topic

It seems to me we are fatally flawed. We are not good in trenches. We can not protect Flacco which causes the gameplan to be dink and dunk and Flacco is just not that kind of QB and now he can not move with his bad knee. Which was what basically happened last year with the injuries to our deep threats. Which causes defenses to not have to respect the deep ball and shrinks the field making dink and dunk even harder.

Next the defense is not getting pressure on a consistent basis and when we do we have a hard time finishing. Leaving the secondary in a tough spot, compounding the problem by putting Wright on taller receivers. I swear Pees needs to get out a tape measure and measure Smith and Wright and realize Smith is taller and should be on the taller receivers.  It's like watching a big kid hold a little kid's backpack over his head saying go ahead grab it.

Each game is going to be a struggle and it wouldn't shock me if we go on a losing streak. I hope I'm wrong.

It's not beyond me and I was at the game.  I'll leave it at that for now.

Again, Chris Moore makes a play that Tandon Doss makes, we probably win and we're praising Flacco for rallying the team back down 9 in the 4th quarter with 0 protection all game. Again, Drops plague us.

Was he perfect? No, hard to do when the protection is that piss poor. QBs are gonna miss throws, they can't be perfect all game which is why it helps to have a WR that can make plays and tough catches, like when Dalton throws a 50/50 ball to Green when their offense is struggling.

Carr had all day to throw and we had no time at all to throw and that is honestly the difference in this one. KO couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Shocking to think Stanley makes that big of a difference already.

or joe doesnt underthrow pitta. We could have even tried a draw play as they were blitzing.

Yea,  there are a lot of ifs,  as always.  I'm not deflecting blame,  there are prolly 20 plays we could pick out that would of changed they outcome if they go a different way.

What I find ironic,  remember before the season how he was saying something about making a 70 yarder. Would of been something crazy to do it to win a game.

Probably the biggest reason I wanted to see Tucker out there in all honesty, but I don't think either decision was wrong in that case.  Low percentage play regardless of whether or not you choose the kick or going for it.

I don't know what game you were watching,  but he looked pretty mobile to me.  Even had a nice rollout a couple Times.

yeah, I look at the schedule and honestly, i only see 2-3 more wins.. Our schedule is brutal filled with really talented teams.. This game was really, really important..a loss vs the redskins and i can see this entire season capitulating...

i suggest we look at a QB in the 2nd round next year...it might be time to look beyond the flacco era

I'm very greatful fans don't run the team, when we win 3 games here in the next few weeks what then?

Doesn't seem that way to me prior to the injury he was good for one or two unscripted scrambling runs a game where he picks up a first down or puts the offense in a more manageable distance on second or third down. Obviously he is not a running QB, but there was the chance that when things start breaking down there was a threat of a scramble.

i think we'll be lucky to go 1-2. Some really, really bad matchups for us coming up.

I have 0 faith in the giants game in particular.

Flacco got an 35.7 grade from PFF, this week. Yikes is that terrible.

Interestingly enough, Shareece Wright got a pretty good grade. Had the 4th highest defensive grade on the team. Secondary overall graded out pretty well.

I'd like to see judon activated over correa . Was very dissapointed when harbs made him inactive. I felt he could have been the difference in the pass rush.

Wow!  That's a pretty pessimistic attitude! Are we flawed? Yes.  But, all fazes of our team have shown glimpses of productiivity...Run game, pass game, defense, and special teams.  If we put them all together, there is reason to believe this team can come together and play strong in December, January, and hopefully February...lots of new pieces take time to build chemistry.  And remember, we are 3-1!  Our one loss we were in it until the last minute, despite not playing our best and having 2 backups on the left side of our line.  Here are my thoughts for our remaining schedule:

Home vs. Redskins   -definitely a winnable game.

@ Giants  --tough game, HUGE test for our secondary

@ Jets    --definitely winnable--have you seen Fitzpatrick the last 2 weeks?

home vs. Steelers   -always a close dogfight

home vs. Browns    -definitely winnable but sucks having a Thursday night game after a sure-to-be extremely physical contest vs. Steelers

@ Cowboys    --Tough game, but winnable---their strength is their run game and we are pretty good against the run

home vs. Bengals    -should be a tough, close divisional game

home vs. Dolphins   -definitely winnable--Dolphins are not looking good

@ Patriots     --very tough game.  Never say never, but I would be shocked if we pulled this one out

Home vs. Eagles   ---tough to gage at this point....let's see how Wentz is looking after a few more games.

@ Steelers    ---tough divisional battle

@ Bengals    --tough divisional battle

The way I see it, 10-6 might get us in the playoffs, 11-5 almost certainly gets us into playoffs....Therefore we are looking at 7-8 more wins needed to get in--here's the path I see to that:

Beat Redskins, Jets, Browns, Dolphins

-Split with both Steelers and Bengals

-Come away with 1-2 more Ws somewhere---maybe @ Giants, @ Cowboys, vs. Eagles

I agree the Giants game is scary for sure, tough matchups.

haha no worries Mili, I won't let one tough loss to a good team ruin my relationship with a veteran poster here!

I agree it wasn't his best, but I thought he showed resilience to battle back and he did enough to win. What's telling to me, and maybe this reeks Trestman, poor line or both, but the average yards per completion is terrible, everything seems so hard with this offense. Hopefully we figure it out and get some better blocking asap.

That is surprising with Wright, but they don't weigh the significance of the play, so maybe he just chose the worst time to get beat and we noticed

I could show you a couple at least. With a competent defense, its a no brainer in my eyes frankly. The risk for a good defense is very minimal.

Ok, I'll wait......

One of my favorite things I like to watch being at the game is the WR/TEs route concepts, what did you see? Were guys getting open deep and did it look like Flacco had chances to get it to them?

Was Perriman getting open? Did Williams go out on routes or just stay in to block primarily?

I agree with the redskins,jets,browns,dolphins....

the rest...we look overmatched.. i see maybe 2 more wins at best..so that would be 9 wins

We're good OU.  I was just clowning around and having fun with you man that's why the :D is at the end of the sentence. :D

Its kind of hard to say we look overmatched against anybody at this point, considering we haven't been overmatched against anybody. I don't see any very high caliber defenses on that schedule.

I knew you were going too and it seems like the offense always lets you down in person. I was shocked they scored 27 given how bad the blocking was. Close losses suck

I also wouldnt be opposed to

1- Correa being inactive

2-same with aiken

3. Forsett released

4.Trying out Price or Davis instead of Wright

Tough catch for Aiken, if he made it I'd be saying get this guy the ball more.

Please break out Perriman, please

I dont know how we are outmatched by the Cowboys. Theyve beaten the Redskins, Bears, and 49ers...  Also while the Giants have an impressive team on paper, theyve had a hard time putting it together. They lost to the Redskins and beat 2 horrible defenses in the Saints (barely) and Cowboys (barely). Tonight should be a much better indication of who they are. They have a horrible o line, I wouldnt be surprised if Eli is sacked 8 times, again.

I agree. I'm not saying the Giants are a bad team, but I'm not quite seeing why people think they are a mismatch for us.
