If we lose 4 games in a row we're not making the playoffs. Good thing that's not gonna happen.

If we lost the next three in a row, we'd be 3-4 with the chance to go 5-4 against the Steelers and then the Browns. There'll be panic stations around here no doubt, but it wouldn't be season over by any stretch. My point is just that this stretch of games is by no means season-defining, let alone this one Washington game (I wish I lived in Colorado like the OP).

I find it hard to believe that, when February rolls around and the time comes to reflect on the entirety of our season, we're going to look back to a game played in week 5 against an average Redskins team and say "yep, this game defined our season."

Last years raider game did. That game let the fans know it would be a long season.

If Stanley isnt back I have this penciled in as an L. Our oline needs to play better. And we need to be smarter coaching wise.

So you think Stanley is the saving grace? Not been watching the games have you?

As I've said previously. No.... James Hurst is just that bad

Does he need to be the savings grace? Not every player we put out there needs to be a HOFer.

If he's a good but not great LT for the rest of his career, I'm completely fine with that.

Saw an article rating o-lines and somehow they had the redskins listed one notch higher than the raiders o-line. I believe the raiders only allowed 2 sacks and the redskins allowed 7, so perhaps it was the hits & hurries (don't think article mentioned them)

Anyway, do you guys think we'll get some pressure on the QB this game?

I sure hope so or we may be seeing Wright give up another 3 TD's.

Some guy named Marqueston King just got signed to the 53, weird.

Looks like Waller's getting cut. No more roster spots and I'm not sure if we're able go hold him.

It looks like we're going to have some trouble pass rush wise 3 weeks in a row. PFF has just come out with their offensive line rankings

(3) Giants

(4) Skins

(5) Dallas

(6) Denver

(7) Oakland

It certainly couldn't hurt considering Smith hasn't done much so far including missing the tackle on that 32 yard sweep last week. Maybe Smith is still fighting that injury he had.

i've decided i dont want to endure another heart attack game. I am going to sleep through, yes..sleep through this game and just take a peek at the score a few hours later..Ravens football is way too dramatic and if im going to watch a game i'd prefer knowing we have won or not bother going through the pain only to lose.

this game is really really important..i think its a game that will define our season going forward. We need to be 5-2 or 6-1 going into our bye. anything less and we aint making the playoffs.

Nothing worse than quotes like these.

A regular season game can definitely define, turn around or deflate a season.

Maybe, maybe not.  And it wouldn't be known to be a "defining game" until after the fact and  a team was eliminated from being included in the tournament. Up to that point any "definition" could be reversed or changed.

But I will tell you this, I live and work in skins territory so the results of this game will most definitely define the tone of many of my football conversations in the coming weeks!   haha

I'm going to watch this game in its entirety as I do with all others.  My reality is that I know what this offense has shown for 4 weeks straight now and that is regardless of who their opponents have been.  They've started the same way for an entire month...slow, sluggish, lethargic and inept for nearly most of the game.  So, I really can't and don't expect nothing different from them against the Redskins either cause they haven't shown any difference from game to game as of yet.  Just hope they all show up and act like they know what they're doing and be confident and consistent with it!

At some point we just have to be resigned to the fact that this teams offense is just average, with a couple drives sprinkled in of being above average.

Can't go the whole season saying a team comes out slow when they have done it all season. At some point that is just how good/bad they are.

I stated it in the offseason. Every year people sit around here and say how amazing our offense will be top 5/top 10. Every year our offense looks completely average compared to the other big teams. Whether it's the players/coaches or coaching philosophy, I don't know. I don't get paid millions to sit around and figure it out. But I figured someone would have in the past 10-12 years this offense has had hype and fell face first.

We could be, but they're having troubles on the interior. Uncertainty with their LG and C. So our interior - Williams, Pierce, Jernigan - might be able to exploit it. Plus, Dumervil now has a game under his belt. Uncertainties for sure, but our defense seems to live and die by the pass rush.

That was the article I was referring to earlier. My gut is saying we will do better than last week pressure wise (couldn't be worse sadly) and as you mentioned, our interior wrecks a few plays and also helps our OLBers have a better game

I hope you understand the ramifications of your actions, if we win that game you will be contractually obligated to sleep through every game until it is proven that your sleeping isn't the cause of our victories.

That shouldn't be the case. We've had significantly less talent on the offensive side of the ball before and yet we don't play this bad on offense. I think everyone takes blame. Players are not executing but they aren't on the same page with the coaches, most notably Trestman. Not that they don't like him but they don't seem to gel well with what they try to do or want to do. The OL runs still runs a zone-blocking scheme but the mix-up that they're attempting to do seems like it just isn't working. Yanda did say that when Kubiak was here the group ran zone-blocking exclusively, but it seems like they're mixing it up with gap blocking and tight zones. I just don't think that plays into the strength of Zuttah, Wagner, Lewis or even Stanley for that matter who are more geared for Zone blocking as athletic OL's.

I wouldn't even fall for the 27 against Oakland, offense was disappointing against a bad defense, 288 yards on 52 drop backs is not good at all. Not to mention Joe just doesn't seem like he's happy with the passing game. Trestman seems like he wants to take it slow and use the short passing game, Joe seems like he's not down for that.

My question is why change? If it ain't broke don't fix it? You're dragging yourself from the strength of the OL, why?

I consider getting to Cousins early to be paramount this week.

His confidence can be shaken. The opposite is also true however.  if he gets in rhythm early it could be a long day.

Absolutely right. Their offense is productive, we need to curtail it early.

Good news is that the Redskins have 0 run game - though even if they did we've been pretty lights out against the run this year, take away Crowell's 85 yard fluke and we shut the Browns' run game down too.
