[News] Byrne Identity: 3-0 Against Lightweights? What Does It Mean?

29 posts in this topic

no one is a lightweight in the nfl because you can lose at anytime to any team. what i learned from these games is the offense is a work in progress as always under the harbaugh regime aside from the 1 year kubs was here. they need to fix the running game and be more consistent or it will be harder to pull out these wins against the better teams. on a side note i hope the fo signs josh gordon to a future/reserve contract when the browns release him. im sure there will be a ton of interest in him.

thanks Kevin, really enjoy your every Friday article.....

Our defense and special team this year really carry us this year....

We need defense and special team like this in December, a cold month that everybody must have good defense to survive for Jan trip....

Joe and WR corps should get better..

But my only concern right now is our O-line; we need to get our guys ready for every Sunday challenge. Can't let Joe got beat up in the back field like this...

Yeah no thanks. That dude cant get his life straight for nothing. He finally has a chance to make a legitimate comeback after week 4 and he still cant get it right. He's just got a dark cloud that follows him-  I think its safe to say his career in the NFL may be coming to a close.  Some team may take a stab at him next year but it won't be us.

Agreed, we don't need him here. But I don't believe in dark clouds, but rather, the decisions we make dictate the life we live. Gordon put himself in the crapper.

Steve Smith is right. Last year, we lost to these kinds of teams. If there is any playoff hope, we MUST beat them because from where I am sitting, I don't see us beating Pittsburgh, New England, or Philadelphia. That is 5 losses right there. Cincinnati is no slouch either, so it may be 7. If our offense was doing anything, we would be competitive. So far, they have done nothing. Can't run, can't block, can't throw down field, can't make 1 yard on third down. The list goes on. Without our one true Pro All Pro, Justin Tucker, we would not have won these games. Yeah, we are 3-0, but the big boys are coming soon. Perriman stinks. He is to our offense what Elam is to our defense. Both wasted number one picks.

Sorry I can't count either. 4 losses to 6, not 5 to 7.

Ever since seeing Urban on the field, I had a sense he would excel at batting balls out of the air. So far he has not disappointed at all. Even better to know that was a designed play he blocked. ST is playing lights out, minus one big punt return, and winning games.

The only thing we do is WIN!!! That is all that counts now doesn't it. There is NO team that is perfect and you strive to get better. That is what the Ravens will do. Don't know what your beef is. We have to win against inferior teams because that is our schedule by the NFL. It remains to be seen how we handle the other "superior" teams. My guess is we will do OK. Go Ravens!!!

Your wrong about what we can't beat. I can see us beating Philadelphia, and even split with Pittsburgh or even sweep. The Bengals can be a split or they can sweep us but l think we will beat them this time at home. It's too early to tell how good this this team could get and l believe they will be better during the middle the season. Let it gel.

Exactly what I was going to say..... Our Ravens can beat any team on any given day, and have already proven they can beat teams like Pittsburgh and Patriots, the only team that scares me a little right now is the Eagles because of their fast start. But we don't play them till the end of the season, and we will know by then where the Eagles will be sitting. We do however need to get the offense going a whole lot better.....
And great article once again Kevin ???

Sure, there are a couple things that I'd like to see that aren't happening yet, like Ravens scoring more points, and keeping more than a score ahead of the opponent. I don't care who scores them - whether the offense, or we get it on pick-sixes, safeties, and returned fumbles, or blocked field goals. I'm not picky.

However, let's face it; the reason the teams we played have a combined record of 1-8 is BECAUSE we won the games. If we didn't, the teams would have a combined record of 4-4, which is not phenomenal, but it isn't too bad either, this early in the season. And we've got two of the wins on the road. Say what you say, but Ravens have a 3-0 record right now. And what matters are the wins, not points for style.

4-5 I mean, obviously.

"They make this, and we have to score a touchdown to win." Even Mr. Purple Koolaid, Byrne, KNEW that wasn't going to happen!

No way to know now.

IMO the Raiders get blown out. Our O sets the tone by stretching the field with Flaccos arm and stretching them out with our WR depth. Then the running game finishes it out!

Exactly. I think we could beat the Eagles because we are at home against them and that they have a rookie qb who has to come in and beat us our home turf which is tough thing to do. So l like our chances of beating them.

Well said, wasn't pretty wins but this team will improve as the season goes on.

Means they could easily get slobbered knocked also known as a wake up call.

Pretty sure any team can get "slobbered knocked" by any team any week. Cardinals got slobbered knocked by a team we already beat. And the cardinals were supposed to be in the championship game or SB. Every week in the NFL is different. This article is all the fans needed to get their griping and pessimism out. JEEZ. Just keep racking up the W's. I sincerely would be stoked if we won 3-2 every week. Just keep winning, then it's time for Ravens football in December, January, and February.

3-0 means that we are a better team this year, especially on defense. As SSSr said, we were losing these games last year. Borderline calls were going against us; turnovers just simply weren't happening for us; and the other team was getting just enough offense at the end to beat us. And we don't have a plethora of really dumb penalties at just the wrong time (like the end of the game), either. Good article, Mr. "Raven" Byrne.

p.s. there is always stuff to work on. Let's keep stacking. Go Ravens!

That blocked field goal was awesome. B Will did an excellent job pulling the middle to him. That play will be Urban Legend.

Flacco has not performed well so far this year. Those 20+ completions were an anomaly....all check down dink passes. He needs to get going. That will help the run game.

Umm, we have not had a run game since Ray Rice was stripped from the team. That one hit wonder season forsett had was....exactly that. And actually it's the run game that opens up the pass game. We have been playing pass happy through the first 3 games, it won't last long.

That fact of the matter is this, we need to improve our run game. I would give Terrence West the starting job, and use Forsett as a #2. Can't wait till Kennith Dixon comes back and shows what he can do for this team. But we definitely have lost that Baltimore style run game.
Could be Trestman.

I'm tired of hearing how bad of a 3-0 team we look,at least we've won 3 games some haven't tasted victory yet,so keep on praying for our down fall.

I agree but no Forsett he has showed us nothing this season when running the ball.
