17 posts in this topic

New Ravens safety Eric Weddle could have been an Oakland Raider alongside good friend and quarterback Derek Carr. Instead, he signed with the Ravens and has transformed their defense with his leadership. Players jokingly call him ‘Coach Weddle.’

Follow the leader. Looks like Mr. Weddle will have a career in coaching after his playing days are over. That, of course, is unless the broadcast booth beckons instead.

It's so nice to see our back end not getting gouged every game for the late game loss ! Thank you for deciding to become a Raven instead of a Raider Eric Weddle. I very much enjoy watching the difference you are making on this team. Keep up the good work !

Where would we be without this guy? He's been that leader we've haven't had in the secondary since the future HOF'er Ed Reed. Fear the beard! This is only the beginning.

Well that only took 4 years to figure out. One reason I wanted Ed Reed back one more year to work with Webb. Webb does not have enough experience since he was always hurt. Then Ravens bring in a NFC guy who hardly seen any AFC formations. They still need a replacement for Weddle and if he goes down the Ravens season will end up like when Suggs was hurt. Please stop trying to draft these guys (i.e Elam) Its not worth it in the long run.

The best picture I seen was when Suggs, Weddle, and SSS were talking on the sidelines during the game. The Veteran Nucleus.

It's refreshing to have a playmaker of his caliber be so sincere in his desire to be here. What an awesome addition!

I was shocked when the Ravens signed Eric Weddle, shocked and pleasantly surprised. After all, when Ray and Ed left, there was a serious lack of on field leadership on defense. Blah, blah, blah, about Suggs and Mosley being the leader. Just baloney. Neither of them is the kind of leader Ray and Ed were. Now Weddle, he is the real deal. Leads by example. Gets fired up. Makes plays. Mosley is better for having him there. Excellent addition.

Blah blah blah. Suggs and Mosley also lead!

Ryan. We love the character and leadership "Coach Weddle" brings to the defense, but to call it a "Ray Lewis like effect" is insulting to the legacy/ legend of Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis is like that special piece mom kept in the dining room china closet. In 18 years I probably saw it used once or twice. Let's use the Ray Lewis comparison more sparingly. In fact, "Coach Weddle's" leadership and contribution to the 2016 Ravens stands on its own. Don't think you need to mention Ray.
