Curse Of The Terrible Towel
A Poem By Dave Crawley

There is power, they say, in the towels that wave.
Like black and gold shrouds on the visitor's grave.
It's a mojo opponents should never neglect.
The Terrible Towel requires respect.

Then this! A deed unspeakably foul!
The Tennessee Titans defiles the towel!
Although their crass actions made Steeler fans wince,
You'll notice that Titan team hasn't won since.

They lost to the Colts. Then the Ravens came in,
A game Tennessee was expected to win.
But the curse of the towel gave Tennessee shakes,
As they sank in a series of stunning mistakes.

Our Black and Gold guys had a much different story.
Santonio Holmes led the gallop to glory.
Fast Willie scored, and the Steelers were winning.
For the Chargers the torment was only beginning.

Third quarter. Alas, on the Bolts' only play,
Foote gives them the boot, and he takes it away.
The towels were twirling as Ben let it go,
And the much maligned offense was starting to flow.

That towel brings sorcery into the fray.
If you don't believe it, well, check out this play.
To add to the Chargers' grim feelings of dread,
A punt that careened off this poor fellow's head.

The message, of course, as we hooted with glee,
From the Terrible Towel: Do not tread on me.
A word to the Ravens. The moment draws nigh.
This is the reason you're still flying high.

The Titans besmirched it, and now to our glee
They will be watching this game on TV.
As you enter the confines where Steeler fans howl:
Beware of the curse of the Terrible Towel.

"I hold this wonderful symbol of power,
It makes all our foes cower."

"Sit down man its just a towel,
It was used on the dishes last night and smells quite foul."
Why wouldn't he be "encouraged"? The last 2 games the Steelers have played Parker has rushed for 262 yds and 3 tds. he is finally healthy and it's the AFCCG! The Raven D is a great D, but even a die hard fan has seen that they are banged up and the last game was not a dominating performance. Why is it cocky to be encouraged by what he has seen from the last game?
Alright,if everyone in the world views us as bangged up,wouldnt it be fair to say the same for the Steelers after gettin worst treatment from the Titans a few weeks ago? We do have injured players. We've had'em alllllllllll season long. Now that its crunch-time in the playoffs and we're on the road, sayin we're tired and banged-up is the easiest way to pick the Steelers. We've been injured the whole season and still won on the road. what makes everbody think Sunday is different?????? Of course the Superbowls on the line and we're on the road, but we know the Steelers extremely well. So everone needs to Hush with these Crazy predictions.

Is the temperature up there giving you brain freeze? What the OP said was that Parker was encouraged by what he saw when he watched the Ravens defense last week. I didn't see the interview, but what it sounds like he is specifically saying is that he watched the Ravens D and thinks he can beat them based on that performance. True or not, why instigate a team that broke the last guy to say this type of thing? Simpled-minded machismo hasn't served your team well. Win or lose, it was a dumb thing to say on his part.
Doesnt mean hes the best.
Noone is saying he is the best. But he certainly is a concern to Baltimore
as he can break one and take it to the house on any given play.

I believe this thread was about him being "cocky" which
he is not.

He was not showboating in that interview, or being cocky. He better have confidence in
himself, every running back should feel that way. To say he shouldn't have said what
he did is just silly. He by no means showed any disrespect.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Derrick Mason, he could teach a class on
being "cocky" and over-confident.

Funny, the same fans that accuse Willie of being cocky sit and defend the "confident" Ravens.

You can't have it both ways.
People Give Ben way to much credit IMO. With an exception of last year, he usually puts up mediocre at best numbers for the season and is VERY int prone. I don't see what you people see in the guy that holds the ball for too long, and gets sacked 1203 times a game. Put Roethlisberger on a team with a horrible D like the Chiefs and Ben goes 6-10 at best.
Put Flacco behind our line this season and he'd be on IR by now. If Ben was just a game manager, how did he drive on your defense twice this season at the end of a game to win it? They weren't running the ball at all on those drives. He has 17 career game winning drives in 5 seasons and the most wins over the same period. Sure he has his bad days, all QB's do, but his record says that he is a little more than just a game manager.

Aw, it isn't nice to achieve victory if you need to hurt players to do it.

The steelers are every bit as tough as the Ravens. I don't think
they are worried about someone "puttin a hurtin on them".

Here's to a CLEAN, hard-hitting game. May the best team win.
Well, that might be what it comes down to for the ravens, try to hurt a player to win the game.
Don't worry Steelers will be hitting just as hard as "ray ray"!!! Your running backs are banged up
and I see them leaving the game before Willie.

He doesn't have to have a "huge" game, which I dont' think he will. If he gets 70 yards or
so, it WILL open our our passing game and we all know that your secondary is depleted.

Ben could have a big day as long as our offensive line gives him a little bit of time!
Steeler apologetics = boring.

I was just saying FWP is better than CJ. FWP is an accomplished back where as CJ finished his first playoff game on the bench. We'll see in less than 2 days :).

I'd say Parker is in general better the CJ and would have had a better year then him if he stayed healthy. If nothing else he's a proven commodity. My FF team was rocking with him until he got hurt. However I don't think he matches up better then the Ravens then CJ.

Also I think the mods should add "cocky" to the banned words list because its been over used lately.
Hmmm. ESPN reports. Willie Parker saw the Ravens defense play last Sunday, and that "encouraged" him. He thinks he'll have a big day against B'more's defense. Hey, I'm not going to stoop down to his level, and be cocky, but last time one of the Steelers running backs were cocky, he went out with a broken shoulder. Watch what you say, Willie.
I think lil Willie is right! He will be part of a big game. Remember what happened to the last steeler claiming he/she was ging to have a big game. Yeah, he was watching the game from the lockerroom. I see lil willie being parked on the bench with two flat tires.
