[News] Late For Work 9/28: Ravens In For A 'Rude Awakening' If They Don't Change This Trend

68 posts in this topic

First real test for the Ravens on Sunday. Oakland has a top 10 offense so I'll be quite impressed if our defense continues to hold. On the flip side, the Raiders are ranked dead last in passing defense and have one of the worst pass rush attacks in the NFL. If Flacco can't demolish the Raiders Sunday (at home, no less), that will speak volumes about his level of play this year. Regardless, Go Ravens!

Yeah, in a way...at least thus far on paper, it looks like an ideal match for Ravens...Oakland Defense is soft so gives our Offense an easier match up and more time to gel...and Oakland Offense contrarily is strong which give our also strong Defense a good test/challenge to sharpen their claws on and keep them moving up their levels. All this is based on stats ofc, and a 3 game analysis...but...we'll see. Lets be 4-0 this time next week!

I remember that very, very bad MNF game we played at JAX several seasons back - we were within one score down, and had the ball to make a last-minute winnig drive. Then Flacco tossed and INT.

Feels made up for with exactly the opposite happening on Sunday.

that was brutal, took me the whole week to get over that one. I think that they won just about as many games as we lost that season.

If anyone is in for a rude awakening is anyone that faces my squad and their haters! The Ravens will "FEED" on all haters and even their own so called fans that like to point fingers! Keep eating because WE THE BEST!

What a great move by Brandon Willams...

Yeah, a hidden gem.
I like to think it was a well executed plan, not an ad-lib move.

This way or that, it was a great one.

it would be interesting to see if he did it on any other field goal attempts that day. it sure was one heck of a play.

I think the one thing that annoys me with this whole "easy schedule" talk is people throw out there hey those teams are 1-8 that Baltimore beat. Well yeah and 3 of the loses are there because of the Ravens.

it's like all the media pundits pick the Jaguars as an early playoff favorite, many of them picked them to upset the Ravens this past weekend but after the Ravens took care business well hey that's a bad team.

I agree that this year's rookie class is really showing their worth. Add in that Perimman is also basically a first year player, and that Orr is finally getting his chance to start, and the level of talent these young guys posseses bodes well for the team's future. Ozzie and the front office may have had some questionable drafts in recent years, but this batch of players are coming up aces.

Let's not forget the L we took last year in the hands of the Raiders in Cali. It's payback time baby! and we are at the cribbo!! Let's go 4-0!

We can't help it that those teams we played are 1-8. That is their problem. We just play the teams on our schedule. Mr.Ramsey needs a good old fashion spanking. He doesn't know when to zip it and his mouth just might get him into trouble.

Baltimore fans aren't stupid. We know the offense is suspect. And there hasn't been any noticeable changes from week to week. I'm confident we are in for that rude awakening.

Sorry I'm not yet.

IMO it looks like the tams biggest weakness is the Oline. We get absolutely no push up the middle when running the ball, they create no holes, and even runs to the outside get quickly closed because we can't hold up the edge. Honestly everyone on the O-line looks weak when we run the ball. Then when we try to throw deep, Joe has to either throw it away, take a sack, throw flat footed or on his back foot, or look for a second option. We need stock up on the O-line.

I think they may actually become quite formidable as their season goes on. Getting Jack Del Rio seems to have given them more life than before 2015. Not that I know this team well...but just found out Del Rio was former Ravens Linebackers Coach. That was about 5 years before I became a Ravens fan, so didn't know way back when what his tenure here was like.

Smith Sr.. went what. . . 8 for 89? Maybe it's just a little too old school for Jalen Ramsey, but maybe y'all need to just Hush! and sit down until you actually shut somebody down son. An 0-3 corner got no business talking bold, proud and manly . . .

Ah stats...they seem to come from pundits like leaves falling from a tree to "nope" anything the Ravens do. But let's talk about the "cupcake schedule" so far. If you wanted to beat Baltimore at their home opener, you would need a good team with coaches and players deeply familiar with how the Ravens operate....say, Rex Ryan, Ed Reed, and Tyrod Taylor perhaps? Then give them all offseason to plan. Then another coach, Hugh Jackson, very familiar with the Ravens (especially Flacco), in their home opener. Then put the Ravens in a place they have not won at in recent years, against a Jacksonville team touted as up and coming with their backs against a wall. Cupcake??? hummm. If the Ravens would not have beaten these teams they would be 2-1, 1-2, and 1-2. That seems to be where a lot of teams "contending" are. So....keep your stats haters, the Ravens are 3-0, point differential? Steelers got hammered 34-3, there is a point differential they should explore :) GO RAVENS! CB 25

Why are these people explaining their stats, immediately labled "HATERS?"  I didn't really see any hatred going on.

Have no problems with our record...love our record. 3-0 ... doesn't get better than that. The O did have something to do with that ofc. But moreso our D and Tucker and special teams...okay. But our O IS capable of stepping up. And really, don't you think it's time?

It's time to STOP this MO:

"We get a lead mid game after a slow 1st quarter and better 2nd...so aro the 3rd we lead by at least a score, or two. Then all the sudden (almost as if it's BECAUSE we have the lead), we stall out on O, and the other team catches us by scoring TD, field goals...Takes the lead from us by 2 points in 4th. We have just over 2 minutes on clock and all timeouts, so we use them, then Flacco and O gets the ball down field but not TD, but close enough for a 'good' kicker to make a field goal. Not great field goal range but good enough, but stall out there just past midfield. Send Tucker out and because he is clutch he makes it and we take lead by one point...sometimes 2...But still a minute on clock so our D goes out and holds the game but it literally winds down to final seconds before we at home realized we haven't been breathing for the last 2 minutes and our neck muscles need a good sauna and massage...not to mention if we are at sports bar watching game we have to make rounds to give our smirks and 'hell yeahs' out to all the Raven haters there who thought we blew the game...but luckily we managed to eek out yet another win..."

Yeah, just stop doing this already ????... Still glad you are 3-0... But just stop this MO?...and instead get the lead and KEEP the lead and don't let the other team ...even ...get ...close ?

 that pretty much sums up the life of a Raven fan.

Interesting that nobody points out the Pats 5 to 6 wins every year in the lame AFC East. When we are playing in January(and hopefully February) nobody will want to go back and review the Browns or Jags game.

Nooo don't destroy my irrational perception of the Ravens with your counterpoints!! It's ok when the Broncos, Pats and Colts get "cupcake" schedules but not us! Accept my hypocrisy!!! LOL

I guess the Patriot's win a few other games as well. Six SBs and ten AFCGs in the last 15 years is kind of impressive, but it's only because of their weak schedule.

Oh no!  There's so much more to credit than the Pats creampuff competition.  There's also walkthroughgate, video tape, game ball tampering, formationgate.  It's almost impossible to hear a discussion about the success of the Belichick era without one of these controversies coming up.  The tragic thing is that for many seasons the Pats seemed to have the talent to accomplish so much without putting themselves at risk of being perceived as cheaters but here we are.

I think each of the past Sundays have been "rude awakenings" for us and yet we win. I suspect this coming Sunday will be another rude awakening for us as we continue to disappoint all through the season right on into the playoffs and then again disappoint when we only win the SB at the last minute by taking an intentional safety and then kicking off to our opponents only to tackle them as the clock runs out. Oh, wait . . . .

I know ? But...we have a 3-0 record so, a record worth fighting for to stay undefeated...time to protect our preeeccciiiousss (Gollum voice)

I kid...but yeah...it'd be fun to keep the streak going. Which we can do the old painful last second win way...maybe....OR ... We can do it by just not giving up the leads we get ? my preference.

How can anyone be satisfied with this horrible offense. All we read from the pundits before the season began was offense this and offense that. Perriman, Perriman, Perriman. I knew then and I know now that is was all baloney. Perriman stinks. He is another wasted draft pick, dropping passes like flies, just like he did in college. He is the offensive version of Elam, another first round bust. The Ravens may or may not win all or part of the next 4 games before the week off, but once they come back, it is bad news for this lackluster offensive team. Why can't Joe throw the ball past the line of scrimmage when we need a first down? Oh yeah 21 completions in a row. What they don't tell you is that most of them were either at or behind the line of scrimmage.

He definitely is. He is the type that will still whine and come up with ridiculous complaints after a 35-3 win. It's really really sad. Though I can't say I feel bad for him. People like him truly believe we are 0-3 instead of 3-0. Bummer to be him

All the games we won this year would be ones we lost last year. GOOD TEAMS FIND WAYS TO WIN!!!

Exactly. I don't care if we win "pretty" or "ugly", or by 1 point or 30, just get the "W"!!! who cares about the rest!

We need 4-5 more games to see what the Ravens have. So far, IMO Flacco's performance hasn't been up to par. I hope he improves....maybe a running game would help.

With his daughter just being born on Tuesday, maybe his head will be a little clearer now.  Although those sleepless nights are coming.
