[News] Late For Work 9/28: Ravens In For A 'Rude Awakening' If They Don't Change This Trend

I think we'll know a lot more about this team's potential after the Oakland game. Still, I'd rather be the worst 16-0 team in the league than the best 0-16 team. ;)

Have no problems with our record...love our record. 3-0 ... doesn't get better than that. The O did have something to do with that ofc. But moreso our D and Tucker and special teams...okay. But our O IS capable of stepping up. And really, don't you think it's time?

It's time to STOP this MO:

"We get a lead mid game after a slow 1st quarter and better 2nd...so aro the 3rd we lead by at least a score, or two. Then all the sudden (almost as if it's BECAUSE we have the lead), we stall out on O, and the other team catches us by scoring TD, field goals...Takes the lead from us by 2 points in 4th. We have just over 2 minutes on clock and all timeouts, so we use them, then Flacco and O gets the ball down field but not TD, but close enough for a 'good' kicker to make a field goal. Not great field goal range but good enough, but stall out there just past midfield. Send Tucker out and because he is clutch he makes it and we take lead by one point...sometimes 2...But still a minute on clock so our D goes out and holds the game but it literally winds down to final seconds before we at home realized we haven't been breathing for the last 2 minutes and our neck muscles need a good sauna and massage...not to mention if we are at sports bar watching game we have to make rounds to give our smirks and 'hell yeahs' out to all the Raven haters there who thought we blew the game...but luckily we managed to eek out yet another win..."

Yeah, just stop doing this already ????... Still glad you are 3-0... But just stop this MO?...and instead get the lead and KEEP the lead and don't let the other team ...even ...get ...close ?

Just one thing to say to Ramsey, dude, you are three games into your pro career. It could end tomorrow. Don't be stupid and appreciate the game and those around you because it could be gone in one second. Also, you don't want to make your knees be targets, but if you continue the attitude, it only takes one TE making a block downfield to put you out for the season and make it look like he stumbled. Stop the cheap shots and stop posting pictures of how great you are. If your great, others will do that. If your not, then you don't deserve to post those pics. Big deal, you knocked down Justin Forsett who is ranked like 100th out of 100 runners in the league. Does that picture make you a man? Looks like you think so...

The Ravens will shut down the Raiders and dominate them on offense. We are talking about the worst defense in the league and the only good games they had were against the 30th and 31st ranked defenses in the league (funny they played the two teams that played Monday night in that shootout, Atlanta and NO. No defense there) We are second in the league in defense and they are in for a rude awakening. Remember the game against Tampa when Joe put up 6 passing Td's in just over a quarter. Expect a game like that.

Interesting that nobody points out the Pats 5 to 6 wins every year in the lame AFC East. When we are playing in January(and hopefully February) nobody will want to go back and review the Browns or Jags game.

After we beat Oakland the "experts" will point out the Raiders were "only" a two win team.

Is the Raiders D really that bad? I thought they were supposed to be much improved this year. Haven't paid any attention to them to know one way or the other.

We need 4-5 more games to see what the Ravens have. So far, IMO Flacco's performance hasn't been up to par. I hope he improves....maybe a running game would help.

"I'll always respect those who came b4 me no matter if you're a future HOF'er or a career backup until you give me a reason not to." Posts picture implying his dominance over Forsett.

So I'm curious as to what his beef with Forsett is then because Justin is the opposite of Steve ego-wise as far as everything we've been told goes, I find it hard to believe he was smack talking Ramsey as well,

I remember that very, very bad MNF game we played at JAX several seasons back - we were within one score down, and had the ball to make a last-minute winnig drive. Then Flacco tossed and INT.

Feels made up for with exactly the opposite happening on Sunday.

What a great move by Brandon Willams...

Yeah, a hidden gem.
I like to think it was a well executed plan, not an ad-lib move.

This way or that, it was a great one.

The only trend we must change to be a serious contender is start running the ball effectively. That starts first and foremost with the OC, who must be consistent and creative with the run game plan. Trestman has been neither so far.

Therefore, until Trestman changes his ways of incompetent run game, we will be extremely lucky to finish 9-7 with him at OC.

Here's where our team needs to begin proving itself. We are getting a middling but talented football team on our turf. This is an opportunity to get going on offense and prove to ourselves we belong as a winning franchise and can't be ignored or taken for granted. This is a make or break game for our respectability and chances at making the playoffs.

Please do something about the running game; we need it badly to milk the clock and for December games....

Ramsey, better back it up if you want to talk smack, 0-3 dude...lol

Ramsey, who won the game? That's all that matters SSS is a true football player who backs up what he says on the field and has done so for years.

Also the thing about the 3-0 Ravens against the 1-8 teams combined 3 of those 8 losses came to be from the Ravens. Bottom line is a win is a win and a loss is a loss so the Bills, Browns and Jaguars should all rebuild and fire their whole coaching staff because they just are not living up to NFL standards. Just another way to look at it.

Why are we still talking about Ramsey and the Jags.... We beat them it is over...we (unlike them) are playing for bigger and better things... let him (them) stay stuck on us all they want. They were not our goal but merely one stepping stone towards our goal! Ramsey is showing his inexperience and in the process showing that the Ravens are still in his head! Need bigger goals rookie... move on~

Ah stats...they seem to come from pundits like leaves falling from a tree to "nope" anything the Ravens do. But let's talk about the "cupcake schedule" so far. If you wanted to beat Baltimore at their home opener, you would need a good team with coaches and players deeply familiar with how the Ravens operate....say, Rex Ryan, Ed Reed, and Tyrod Taylor perhaps? Then give them all offseason to plan. Then another coach, Hugh Jackson, very familiar with the Ravens (especially Flacco), in their home opener. Then put the Ravens in a place they have not won at in recent years, against a Jacksonville team touted as up and coming with their backs against a wall. Cupcake??? hummm. If the Ravens would not have beaten these teams they would be 2-1, 1-2, and 1-2. That seems to be where a lot of teams "contending" are. So....keep your stats haters, the Ravens are 3-0, point differential? Steelers got hammered 34-3, there is a point differential they should explore :) GO RAVENS! CB 25

I have no problem with Ramsey. He backs up his smack talk with performance. He's still a bit green, but his brashness is something a perennial loser like JAX sorely needs. Woulda been a great Raven.

First real test for the Ravens on Sunday. Oakland has a top 10 offense so I'll be quite impressed if our defense continues to hold. On the flip side, the Raiders are ranked dead last in passing defense and have one of the worst pass rush attacks in the NFL. If Flacco can't demolish the Raiders Sunday (at home, no less), that will speak volumes about his level of play this year. Regardless, Go Ravens!

I think you make some good points would have loved to have him as a Raven. My point was his team is 0-3 and he is talking too much for how long he has been in the league but thats just my opinion.

Baltimore fans aren't stupid. We know the offense is suspect. And there hasn't been any noticeable changes from week to week. I'm confident we are in for that rude awakening.

The fact of the matter is that we can only beat the teams that we are scheduled to play. We have successfully done that and that is all we can do.
Any team in the NFL can beat any other team on any given Sunday. Cleveland lost in OT at Miami and looks like a pretty good team despite their 0-3 start. They could easily be 2-1. Buffalo demolished Arizona last week and narrowly lost to the Jets. The Jags were victimized by 16 incorrect calls that went against them or they would have easily beaten Green Bay. They also look like a pretty good team.
Baltimore could have easily lost all 3 of their games but because they have an excellent defense, great special teams and remarkable determination they pulled out close victories. They deserve to be 3-0 and are definitely one of the top 10 teams in the NFL. If the offense ever gets it together they will difficult for any team to beat.
I really hope the offense can break out this weekend against the Raiders in Baltimore. I expect that they will against the weakest defense they have faced so far this year. Going 4-0 will also be the best they can do.

Those stats about previous 3-0 teams are completely and utterly meaningless. None of those teams were this year's Ravens. The stats don't account for the fact that we basically had to throw our offense together week 1 and figure things out on the fly, nor do they account for the fact that we are a winning organization that has won more playoff games than anyone in the Harbaugh/Flacco era. When there are variables that are unaccounted for, statistics will not be accurate.
