2016 Week 4 Other Teams Discussion

298 posts in this topic

Week 4 of the NFL Season is here and the NFL looks as flip turned upside down as much as Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. You got the NFC West all wide open thanks to the mishap of the Cardinals, the Eagles are out to a 3-0 start under rookie QB Carson Wentz and very underrated Jim Schwartz defensive makeover. The Panthers are 1-2, Trevor Siemian is managing the game good enough for Denver's defense to win the game; The Vikings despite their huge losses are the NFC's top team but most shocking of all, the Patriots are closing in on 4-0 WITHOUT Tom Brady.

Dolphins @ Bengals: The Cincinnati Bengals head into Thursday Night losing two in a row and look to get back on track against the Miami Dolphins who they have loss three straight dating back to 2010. Cincy needs this more than the Dolphins in order to not lose anymore AFC Tiebreakers if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.

Colts @ Jaguars: If Dennis Allen and Joe Philbin could give Gus Bradley some advice it would be to not go to London or... WIN! Jaguars are 0-3 heading into a big division game against the Colts. Once again the AFC South is terrible, maybe one day this division won't suck. Poor Andrew Luck. The Colts are wasting his career away under Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson. Colts should win this ending the Gus Bradley era in Jacksonville and the London Head Coaching Curse will continue.

Titans @ Texans: JJ Watt is done for the season, Osweiler got exposed against the Patriots, everything is going down hill for the Texans. Remember 2013 when the Texans started out 2-0 then lost 14 straight to earn the number one pick in 2014? The Texans are hoping history doesn't repeat itself in 2016. The Titans meanwhile have been very competitive through three games. Yes they lost by 11 to the Vikings but before the interceptions, the Titans had a real shot at upsetting the Vikings. They beat the Lions by 1 point(huge road win) and lost by 7 to the Raiders. It's easy to pick Houston but Tennessee is playing well so it could happen.

Browns @ Redskins: The Redskins started out 0-2, players in the locker room started talking, OBJ and Norman hugged it out in the end zone and the Redskins got their first win. For the Browns, they had their chance to win against Miami and blew it. If last week was a sign of things to come for Washington then the Browns are in trouble this week and a Tom Brady waiting to prove himself after a 4 game suspension in week five doesn't help things for next week.

Seahawks @ Jets: Based on the fact the Seahawks aren't playing the 49ers, I'm going to say this will be another offensive struggle with or without Russell Wilson. The Seahawks offensive line will be more in focus this week playing against a stout Jets defensive front consisting of Wilkerson, Richardson and Steve McLendon. Playing Wilson wouldn't be wise as he's one hit away or scramble from being done for the year, but Ryan Fitzpatrick against the Legion of Boom will most likely decide how this game ends.

Bills @ Patriots: Luckily the Patriots get Tom Brady back next week but what we learned in through 3 weeks is some team is going to give the Patriots a high draft pick for Jimmy G in the offseason. After upsetting the Arizona Cardinals, the Bills look to make a statement against the Patriots that the first two weeks were a fluke. Can the Bills pull this off on the road in New England or will everyone be trying to figure out how the Patriots went 4-0 without Tom Brady?

Panthers @ Falcons: The only regular season loss the Panthers had in 2015 came at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta is coming off two straight road victories against the Raiders and Saints and look to once again dethrone the Carolina Panthers at home. Carolina has some issues, they are not the team from one year ago Carolina needs this victory to get back on track or will Atlanta rise up and potentially end the three year NFC South Title reign of the Panthers?

Lions @ Bears: If I'm Bears GM Ryan Pace, I start doing research on the 2017 QB Class. This team wasn't going anywhere with Cutler and certainly isn't going anywhere without Cutler. Bears are 0-3 and well on their way to cementing themselves atop the 2017 Draft Order. The Lions enter this 1-2 and look to avenge their loss to the Packers by beating the hapless Bears.

Broncos @ Buccaneers: Denver Defense, meet Jameis Winston. Jameis Winston, meet your toughest defense you have faced in your young career. The Broncos have yet to miss a beat despite what everyone said and are setting themselves up for a repeat, something that hasn't happened since the Patriots did it over a decade ago.

Rams @ Cardinals: One team is 2-1, the other is 1-2; Shockingly it's the Rams that are 2-1 atop the NFC West through three weeks and Arizona hasn't recovered from the NFC Championship game beat down. After what we thought was the real Cardinals showing up against the Bucs, the Cardinals went out and got beat all over by the 0-2 Bills. The Rams meanwhile look to extend their division lead and take out the Arizona Cardinals improving their record to 3-1 and division record to 2-1.

Saints @ Chargers: If you can play defense, please inform the New Orleans Saints immediately. The Saints look to avoid starting 0-4 after a rough outing against Atlanta on Monday Night. The Chargers look for another win to keep up with a wide open AFC West that seemingly may not be so wide open after all.

Cowboys @ 49ers: Guess what the Cowboys are going to do on Sunday? Beat up San Francisco. The only team this season not to do so is the Rams who got shutout by the 49ers. With the NFC East looking more competitive than last year, the Cowboys are in need of a win to stay in the hunt with the surprising Eagles and the New York Giants. The NFC West is surprisingly anyone's game so a win here would keep the 49ers in the hunt.

Chiefs @ Steelers: The Steelers look to rebound at home against a Chiefs team that just picked off Ryan Fitzpatrick 6 times. The Chiefs held the Steelers to just 13 points in their 23-13 win from 2015, and the Steelers only mustered a FG against the Carson Wentz led Eagles. Will the Steelers follow the Bengals lead and drop 2 in a row or win to stay in pace with the Ravens?

Giants @ Vikings: If the Vikings had Bridgewater and AP, they would be without a doubt the NFC's top team. Somehow despite no Bridgewater/AP they are still the NFC's top team. It's crazy how much the Bradford trade worked out for the Vikings as he's been able to be a game manager while letting the Vikings defense do the rest of the work. Could you imagine a Broncos/Vikings Super Bowl? The Giants meanwhile are looking to rebound after a loss to the Redskins to keep up with a now competitive NFC East.

Nice breakdown JO as always. Would love to see both the Steelers & Bengals drop another one this week. How sweet would that be?

Also hope to see the Bills continue what they started last week and at least give the P*ts 1 loss before * comes back.

A Denver loss would also be fantastic. It could happen with having to travel east 2 weeks in a row and playing in that hot, humid weather down there.

Should all this happen along with a big Ravens win would set us up nicely as the only undefeated in the AFC.

If you're gonna dream, dream big ... Right?

Really hope the Dolphins can pull out a win but I just don't see it

Yeah, I can't see it happening either sadly. The encouraging thing is that no-one saw the Dolphins pulling out a win in 2013 so you never say never, though in fairness that was in an insanely hot and humid Miami and (iirc) the Bengals were wearing black and sweating bullets.

Well the Phins did come within 2 against the Hawks in Seattle and they were down by 7 at the Pats. Their is a slight hope at least.

Dolphins have won three straight against the Bengals so the trend says Dolphins win and Bengals drop to 1-3.

It was only a year ago, Byron Maxwell signed a $63M contract with the Eagles, he was then traded to Miami after Philly started cleaning up Chip Kelly's mess. The Dolphins have now benched Maxwell and will start second year player Tony Lippett tonight against the Bengals. A product of the LOB and flopped elsewhere.

Other Notes for tonight:

- Laremy Tunsil will see his first action at Left Tackle with Brandon Albert inactive, while Billy Turner slides in at Left Guard. Arian Foster will miss his second straight game.

- Bengals CB Darqueze Dennard will start in place of injured CB Dre Kirkpatrick.

Josh Gordon is checking into a live-in rehab facility, don't expect to see him anytime soon if ever.  Just another sad story of what could of been.

Would be wonderful since it will also be their 3rd loss against an AFC opponent.  Don't think the Dolphins are going to even threaten though.

Kenny Stills. :D

I really hope the Dolphins can pull this out. Every time the Bengals lose it's a victory for humanity and justice.

lol, would be huge for us if they take the loss here and we win on sunday. They would be in serious danger.

Hopefully this is the year they implode spectacularly. Losing at home to Miami to go 1-3 would be a great start.

Tunsil looked alright at LT on that firsr drive btw. I still think he'll pan out as a great LT for Miami, even if he looks a little rough at LG for the first season or two.

As if Thursday night games didn't deliver enough clunkers now they have to make them ugly from start to finish with these color rush uniforms.

I thought the dolphins were the Bengals at first because surely they would be the ones wearing orange but no... it's the Miami carrots.

Something just occurred to me: the Ravens are going to look like Barney when it's their turn.

I actually like the Miami uniforms, but it does seem weird that they are orange and Cincy is white. Cincy's "color rush" all white uniforms are really dull.
