[News] What You Missed vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Raiders coming across country to play at M&T... we need to take advantage of this and make sure we end up 4-0. That puts a lot of pressure on the rest of the division. (SSS, Suggs and Pitta coming around should help next week) Hopefully we get Elvis and Powers back this week and get Perriman a little more involved. Finally would love to see us open up the running gam a little more by stretching the field. (Keep KMack under wraps and we got this)!

Curious, why do you think Powers will help much from the slot? All things considering, the slot CBs are playing pretty well.  Now that I think about it, Powers was a healthy scratch vs the Jags.

Rather than plowing into the blockers, Williams took a step forward and then slid back several yards. As he back-pedaled, two of Jacksonville’s blockers fell forward to give Urban a clean path to block the kick. It was a creative play call, and nice execution by Urban to take advantage of the hole.

You sneaky little Ravens!  Gotta love the fake out by B Will that caused TWO linemen to fall on their face.

Plus, it's another AFC conference game - we could be 4-0 against conference teams, which could help down the road with playoff seeding.

Ravens mis KO BIG TIME ! Absolutely NO push what so ever. The only mauler is Yanda and I think he's regressing. I'm with the pundits that the Ravens really haven't been tested. 3 VERY weak teams to start and not a bad thing kinda like an extended pre season. BUT they have to improve the offensive line play. I would put Jensen in at center. He's a mauler and likes to mix it up. Also I would go with Dixon/Allen when Dixon gets healthy. Love Forsette as a person , but he can't break a tackle. Get him in open space screen passes. Defense is playing Raven football and feel good about the direction the D is going.

Whoever designed the Brandon Williams move is a genius. And BWill and BUrb played it to perfection. Now, with the defense we already have, let's think what happens when the offense gets to this level of execution. [Remember: at the end of last season, this starting QB was not there; the starting RB was not there; the two starting WRs were not there; the starting TE was not there; the starting LG was not there; the starting LT was not there - - - and somebody is complaining????]

Even the Mrs was impressed with the blocked kick play. Williams is a beast. Glad to see some of the draft picks paying dividends. Just in time for a nice run.

I was thinking the same thing. To be honest I am not an expert on special team play calls, so really I couldn't tell you with 100 percent confidence that, that play was an original invention by the ST coaches. But I have never seen anything remotely similar to that, in any field goal blocking scheme (if anyone has I would love to know about it).  This type of creativity and innovation is what separates your good coaches from your great coaches. Hopefully some of this original thinking will rub off on Trestman, and all of the other coaches for that matter.

I love these breakdown videos!!!! That blocked FG move by brandon williams is awesome, i am surprised more moves like that arent in the NFL. Kinda like sumo wrestlers and using their weight against them.

That special teams FG block was a brilliant plan with brilliant execution! Kudos Coach Rossburg!

This has become one of my favorite weekly features, I hope this continues all season great work...

** I think I'd like to see this segment break down a few "negative plays" as well from time to time so we can see where the error occurred. Example of this would be the Flacco deflected INT, Pitta looks completely open from one angle, then it can be seen from another Flacco releases just before Pitta plants his foots and turns inside. I'd like to know what went wrong there.

Or maybe pick out a run play and breakdown if it's a protection issue, poor vision by the back or just flat out great defensive stop. **

The blocked FG wow that's a thing of beauty there, for Brandon Williams to fake then drop back, those 2 lineman just fell down .  Leaving Urban to be the cleanup man..

I hope we can retain B.Williams after this year.

Jernigan deflected play, I remember talking about how that was all effort during the game, and how refreshing it is to see him fight & fight until the whistle this year.

I wish our offense could be this creative. Why are we always so predictable, no matter who is the OC.

It's kind of funny during the gameday thread I said " I'm beginning to think Harbaugh could be the underlying heart of the offensive woes and creativity,  similar to my belief that Les Miles ultimately held back LSU offensive creativity with the various OCs they've had. "

maybe 2 hours later it was announced Les Miles was fired.

Another example would be someone like Rex Ryan that's so defensive minded, he's forced his teams to be run-oriented to a fault at times.

I mean it's just crazy to think that other than Kubiak year the team's office has been super dull regardless of OC.

Their calling us the worst 3-0 team in the history of the sport.

Just remember . . . the worst 3-0 team in history is better than the best 2-1 team that ever was. I'm not saying it's real but it's how they score the teams in the standings and in the end that's how they pick playoff teams.

In all fairness I don't think you could say our offense has been "dull". Incompetent at times, yes, but surely not dull. Even Joe is commenting on the offense needlessly contributing to the rise in high blood pressure among Ravens fans this year.
