[News] How Good Are Ravens? They Are What Their Record Says They Are

As for the Ravens, I believe we are easily in the upper echelon of football teams in the NFL and have been for several years now notwithstanding the 2015 debacle due to various injuries.

2015 the record said we sucked but no one wanted to face us, we really only lost the Seattle game (and that was with ½ of our starters our on IR). I still consider us in the upper echelon for the past decade even that year.

Yea, only lost ONE game last year. Sheesh!

It seems we've been here before...good defense and waiting for the offense to catch up. I'm glad we're 3-0, but all eyes should turn to Trestman as we have a healthy Joe and receivers for him to target. Running backs that looked good on paper and in the preseason..so what gives??!!. Each week I've looked for improvements in the offense and I don't see it. All I can do is hope it gets figured out as it would complete the balance of our team.

it looks like the team is enjoying a luxury that is about to disappear once the schedule toughens in the next few weeks. Trestman's lack of a legit running game is going to come to play in several losses as the season progresses. Flacco cannot afford to have games where he just hits a wall and cannot move the ball downfield. He lacks that special touch on passes that need it. The guys has a strong arm and that is what we like about him, but touch is also needed at times to ensure the completion rate is what is needed to win games. Perriman is beginning to show just what he seemed to do in college and that is begin to run before the ball is caught and tucked away. I still believe that an 8-8 season is very likely. I hope that I am wrong though.

We would've lost 2 of these games last season, so I'll definitely take the W's. I am concerned about the offense, especially the moribund running game and Flacco's extreme inconsistency. We can't seem to maintain momentum or get the ball in the end zone, and the turnovers will kill us against better teams. Trestman and Joe need to make some adjustments and fast. Too many pass-catching weapons not to be putting up 30+ points per week.

One other issue that really get sunder my skin. Jimmy Smith is no DB. The guy is never in position to paly the ball. He is always trying to catch up on pass plays. How can he be considered a starter? Surely, we have at least one DB that can cover much better than this guy. It's time to move on from the Jimmy Smith experiment. He doesn't have the required skills to play in the NFL at the level that is required. Maybe the Browns could use him.

Interesting that when the Patriots win five or six games every year in their division nobody really brings up the fact how awful those teams have been for the most part over the last 10 to 15 years.

I'll take the wins as well. Two wins on the road, regardless of who we played is a good win. If we can find two more road wins and grab five more at home that gives us the ten to have a shot at the playoffs. Optimistically, eleven or twelve would give us a first round bye. The advantages of the 3-0 start are BIG.

Unfortunately, Below Average Joe will try to continue to throw game after game away.

Below average Joe is accountable for all of our TDs we have scored so far this season....

Yeah, and 4 INTs including 2 in crunch time with the game on the line. We've played the cupcakes on our schedule, and can't afford these mistakes going forward.

If it wasn't for the Cardinals success as of recent you could say the same thing about the Seahawks pretty much, having to face cupcake teams like the Rams and 9ers. Although this year so far, the Seahawks don't look to be much better then those two.

From the immortal words of Al Davis, just win baby. That's all joe does, he wins, this is the NFL, grow up, doesn't have to be pretty, nobody cares about that in the end.

I do not worry because the Ravens have always played up to, or down to, their competition. Just get Joe to the playoffs. For whatever reason, all year long he looks like the guy with glasses walking into the phone booth, but when the playoffs hit, he is that guy that comes out of the phone booth with a big red S on his chest (and its not for Steve Smith, however, it could be). Anyway, all I worry about every year is just getting Joe to the playoffs knowing he has it from there. Never, ever has he gone to the playoffs and lost the first game, never.

I challenge you to go find the passing yardage allowed by Jimmy Smith this season and then report back and tell me if he shouldn't be our #1 CB.

With little or no offense, we are really lucky to be 3-0, even against these sad teams. Give the defense and especially our one true All Pro, Justin Tucker, credit for these victories. While the defense is not perfect, it is head and shoulders over the offense, which has done virtually nothing. Oh, and those 21 successive pass completions, what baloney. 15 of them weren't past the line of scrimmage. Instead of throwing down field to pick up a first down, all we see are dump offs short of it. Ridiculous.

I think you sound ridiculous. I am quite sure those teams without a win would gladly win by the same margins as we have. As far as the 21 consecutive passes are concerned it really doesn't matter how many yards he got from them now does it. It is still a nice feat and kept the ball out of our rivals hands now didn't it.

As do I but to whobilly's point you rarely hear the talking heads on the networks point out that the Pat's have had nearly two decades of 6 inter-divisional walkover victories. They start every season essentially 6-0. So the network media is full of "Yeah But" over the Ravens 3-0 start because of apparent opponent mediocrity. I feel his pain.

Are the Patriots lucky too? They have usually have to play easy teams every year including there division.

So Ridiculous. 3-0 is just ridiculous. I hate it. HAHAHAHA. Yeah Yanda been praised league wide as the best guards in the game the past 2 years, but no way he's an all-pro eh? jeez. Plus last time I checked it doesn't take 10 all pros to win it all. Plus, it's funny how people compare game to game to future games...Doesn't work people. "that's why you play the game." Also you're incredibly ignorant if you ever thought our O would start off on fire. LOTS of new pieces and lots of pieces making their way back. The offense is going to get better and better as the year goes on. Plus Dixon coming back is going to be HUGE. 3-0. So ridicuous....some people wil never be happy

I expect double standards, it is unfair, it is obnoxious and it's bs considering how good our team has been the last 15 years. Ben is immune to criticism, what would the papers be printing if Flacco got blown out and scored 3 points. My god, Ben was put on a pedestal for throwing 21 TDs and 16 INTs last year.

Ive become numb to it all, I fully expect Carr and Wentz to be ranked above Flacco if they put up STATS
