It's a bit of a misnomer though, Mack was an all pro at both 3-4 olb and 4-3 de last year which suggests they already used both systems successfully

I think the 4-3 DE came from being able to slide there in nickel situations with Mario Edwards on his inside shoulder.

You guys should win this game, its at home against Oakland. Should win easily.

I think we'll win, but I don't think it'l be easy. The Raiders are legit, and unless they implode down the stretch from their travel schedule and just being a young team in general I think they'll be there or thereabouts in the payoff picture.

Nothing has come easy to the Ravens up to this point...

Even if Stanley doesn't suit up for this one, I doubt Hurst gets the call. Someone mentioned earlier, it's more likely that Wagner would switch sides, Yanda kick out to RT and Urschel/Jensen line up at G.

Im sorry but that's absolutely insane. (a) theres no long term injuries forcing that big of a shake up. Moving players around causes a drop off and this arrangement would weaken not 1 spot but 4 (!!!!) Spots- insane to throw off the consistency for one week of injuries. (b) Mack lines up over the RT most of the time, so moving Wagner to LT is counter productive, Yanda at RT has been serviceable in the past but hes been struggling (by his standards) as a guard this year. (c) its clear that Hurst is the swing tackle since he's active every gameday and doesn't take many ST snaps. You can definitely complain about Hurst if you want, but he's on the roster for situations like this.

Much as I like seeing Mike Wallace and SSS, we need to see Kamar out there.

Kamar turned into a reliable pass catcher.   Utilize him and show people different looks.

This might be a good game to get a good feel to turn up the numbers.

Yea, this isn't really true.

Historically, Jimmy has been able to handle whoever you line across from him.

Sure, you won't drop him into the slot, but he's not struggling with nuanced route runners because he's done very well against AB when matched up with him in the past.

Where you'll see Jimmy struggle this season is against players who can run down the field. I'm not sure if he's not trusting his feet or what, but he's not able to really keep up with long speed anymore, but maybe that's something that comes back.

Also, on the topic of Wright, he's only done well when he's been able to wall the receiver off with the sideline and reduce the window that he's able to defend. When he's allowed inside release, good luck.

Also, I'd have to watch the game again to confirm this, but I don't believe the corners shadowed after Wright's week two struggles. The fact that Robinson saw Wright more is because the Jags wanted to exploit that match up.

I've heard so many myths on Jimmy Smith I've simply stopped trying. It's crazy how he is stereotyped.

Yea it really is, do you really want anyone else being our #1 guy? Lol

And the narrative on AJ Green abusing him isn't entirely fair, half the iconic moments weren't even with him guarding him, yes Green has burned him a few times, but Jimmy Smith is also one of the only players I've ever seen snag a back shoulder fade from him in the end zone for an interception twice.

CB and O line should be our off season focus

I was reading the posts on him needing to guard Crabtree and my face was just like, "What... do you watch?"

I'm getting scared about Stanley's injury, if he doesn't play we could easily lose. Hurst is probably still weak.

I don't think he NEEDS to guard Crabtree, but last year Crabtree did have his best game of the season against us. He can be a difference maker is we allow him to.

Yeah was thinking this too. No reason to shuffle anyone. Hurst isn't great, but he's the only legit back-up LT we have. No need to disrupt the entire line.

The Ravens rarely do anything easily. Doing it the hard way is almost our trademark! lol

Yeah well, maybe disruption is exactly what this O line needs.

Agreed, bring in another tight end to help Hurst w/ pass protection if necessary.

I've been perusing a couple of the Raiders message boards this week, and boy are their fans cocky. A lot of them seem to think that the Raiders will win with minimal problems, and I've read some of them saying that the Saints and Titans were harder opponents than the Ravens. I hope that the Ravens make them look foolish on Sunday. M&T Bank Stadium should be fired up and loud.

Yeah I saw someone say that the titans team they played would have DESTROYED us.

Those fans are looking at those great Raider's O stats, but forgetting about the their dismal D stats. Their D is giving up MORE in almost every category than their O is getting!

So, you dont think its smart to put Jimmy on their top target?

Bc if you think Cooper is their top target, than i dont think youve been watching them.

Crabs been the higher volume guy, hes who Carr is going to when he need a big play, and hes who Carr wants to find in the red zone.

Also, just to check and make sure my memory was correct - Cooper definitely beat Jimmy down last year... although it was a limited sample.

Snap 1 - Bubble screen to Cooper, Jimmy plays off about 5 yards, Cooper dropped it but had space some space.

Snap 2 - 3rd down and about 8. Cooper runs a dig just beyond the 1st down marker. Creates ample separation but again concentration drop.

Snap 3 - Cooper blows by Jimmy deep, has 3-4 yards of separation when making the catch. 70 yd TD. Easy throw and catch.

Snap 4 - Cooper gets 2+ steps on Jimmy deep, Carr throws a poor ball behind Cooper and Jimmy is able to make a diving PD. Even a decently thrown ball and wouldve been another long TD.

After the long TD, we kept Jimmy off of Amari bc he was clearly beaten bad early in the game. The 4th they used trips to force us out of man, and get that match up and it wouldve worked for a TD again.

It's a small sample size, but it's pretty glaring if you watch the tape. He soundly beat Jimmy on all 3 routes. If cooper didnt drop so many balls, and Carr was accurate we're talking about a 4 catch, 120 yd and 2 TD day for Jimmy in coverage.

I prefer Jimmy in coverage against anyone. But for our team as a whole I like Jimmy on Crab and Wright with help on Cooper as the best match ups.

It was a shootout last year IN Oakland. This year it's in Baltimore and compare our Ravens roster from then to now. Huge difference, especially our offense. Theirs  has changed as well, but their defense has been exposed for a couple of weeks now. Our defense is completely different than the last time they played us. Not to mention, we get Doom back. I believe we lost Suggs that game as well. It should be a fun game. I think we're gonna get a nice pass rush this game and our offense is gonna click at home, for the first time. That run game as to start up though. A little concerning about Lewis and Stanley though. But we have depth and will have to make blocking adjustments. That's what good teams do.

Seems like our offense is struggling, Aiken's GONE, Steve's slowed down, run game sucks and none of the TE'S besides Pitta are effective. If Stanley isn't ready to GO on Sunday we are done. This is gonna be a tough game. likely gonna be at the edge of your seat.

We lost Suggs in season opener in Denver.

If we can defend the run well on Sunday, I think we win comfortably.

I watched the Raiders/Titans game on gamepass. I wasn't overly impressed with either offense. The Titans kept shooting themselves in the foot all day. but still could have come back to tie it at the end.

A personal foul penalty at the Raiders 3 moved them back

A bogus OPI cost them a TD called back.

A defensive holding call in the end zone wasn't called on the final play.

The Raiders broke a few fairly long runs and most of their receptions were quick outs or underneath throws. They also had a lot of offensive penalties called.

I would love to see Aiken out there more but not taking snaps away from wallace or SSS. Take it from perriman who honestly hasn't been all that impressive
