The Good, The Bad and the Awful against the Jags

this Eagles run game is making me extremely jealous... why can't we do that.

Partially blocking and Forsett.

But we also haven't faced a completely deflated Steelers front 7 that has given up.

They weren't running this well at all until the last 2 drives when the D effectively gave up. You can tell in their body language.

Prior to that they weren't running the ball any better than us.

Okay well, he looked especially awful today lol

I know the blocking up front is pretty poor but West seems to at least make something happen some of the time. Forsett just looks like he has no chance.

I feel like Forsett looks like what he is. A journeyman that had an outlier year and people got happy about a 30 year old RB that posted numbers in Kubiak's system that's know to produce a plethora of 1000 yard rushers.   Production dropped slightly last year before the injury, and now he's completely back down to earth.

He runs very hesitantly at times, now if the team were still running those same zone runs that would be beneficial to cutback into an open lane.

I'm just wondering why Buck Allen can't get a single snap at least he can contribute to the passing game much more than forsett or west.

I don't think Dixon will make a difference . He may make some plays here and there but I don't think he's the savior . The offensive line just sucks at run blocking.

He will make a difference . Those 2 yard runs will be 4-5 yards , even with this oline.

Watch .

You know those are good points. I'm still worried about the missed tackles (it seems like first contact never takes the opponent down), but I'm a little less worried after reading your post.

That only leaves the run offense, secondary (other than Weddle) and the passing offense ( mostly in regards to consistency).

Secondary isn't a major concern for me. Again, some bad plays against Cleveland, but overall pretty good. Much improved from the last two years... not looking for Seahawks/Broncos level secondary play here, because nobody thinks we have that kind of talent. Even an average to above-average secondary is just fine by me.

Run game is a major concern, as is inconsistency with the offensive line.

Good : Jernigan he's becoming a regular mention for me.  Tucker awesome ..  maybe Suggs just jump started his season :D.  Urban on blocked Kick!!!  Defensive turnovers

Got the win & started 3-0 ( all AFC conference wins as well )

** the sliders on Hawaiian rolls & fried onion rings I made for the game **

Bad: run game! O-line penalties, lack of crossing patterns, slants to attack middle

the ugly : 4th quarter both teams played Hot Potato for the win lol.

I'd prefer to see West being the starter over Forsett, but before today he was averaging 3.2ypa. That's still a 2013-esque figure.

The "starter" label is sort of like saying that Upshaw was starting over Dumervil. The snap counts are pretty close when its all said and done.

So far through three weeks, Forsett has exactly one more carry than West, and their stat lines are virtually identical (and that's not a good thing).

I like West, but he's far from good enough to be a lead back who's getting 20 carries a game in my eyes.

Jalen Ramsey says he doesnt respect SSr as a man because he was whining to the refs.  Damn kid, 3 games into your career and your disrespecting a HoF WR.

Easy for him to do, considering he will never play against him again.

I like that we are all not content with 3-0 based on performance against lesser teams. (Not being sarcastic, curious how many other fan bases would be pumped despite the performances at times) Every game is tough, 2 road wins (one divisional) to start has got to make the team stronger. Pumped for next weekend, plenty to tighten up!  As everyone has pointed out, these are the games we lost last year...this has been fun so far!

I am pumped, but not content.  Id much rather us be 3-0 while we are still trying to figure out who we are rather than any other record.

any win is a good win,

with that said;

our offense is bad, I mean like "really bad",

we can not run and I see no consistency with our WR's , it should be a clear 1, 2 and 3

newsflash, forsett is that bad

our line will not be that good right now(not defending them) we have 2 rooks on the left side, they need time,I was against starting 2 rooks

but maybe the coaches could have seen something so either way I am ok, they need time.

now the entree,

GOOD: a win is a win

Bad: Forsett is done , we should make him 2 and west 1, let him take over and see what he can do.

when is Dixon rumored to returned

Ugly: mental break downs, whatever is blocking this team needs to be repaired,

today was the 1st day I thought maybe we are not that good, maybe i drank to much purple kool aide

where you at wizard,

In past years I can recall myself and others complaining about the schedule this and that...it will be tough at the end, but these games to start out and figure everything out are certainly nice (last year sucked haha). By no means content here either, tons of stuff to get together. Just trying to throw some positive vibes.

Was it two years ago we started with 3 division games?

I think I commented in the game thread too, Forsett even receiving a pass in the open looked old and slow. The few times he may have had a chance to make a move, he just kind of tumbled into the first defender. Two years ago he would make a quick shake and turn it on for like 15 I feel.

Hope Dixon is good soon!

As someone mentioned...could buck spark something in someway in the short term?

He's not even the best rookie corner and he thinks he's got the right to throw shade at a HoFamer. Smh, have fun with the loser Jaguars.

It really doesn't matter how you win. Get to the playoffs and anything can happen.

The defense looks very good in all levels. They have had 1 bad quarter.  The offense can, and probably will improve as the season goes on... Yes, they may need more than 3 games to click.

We are 3-0, and have a home game comin' up.  I like where we stand.

Good thing we brought our ugly "A" game tonight. Couldn't believe I wanted to play soft D at the end of the game. Had to pinch myself. Our LBs played great.

Good: the win, no major injuries, overall defense, Tucker, Special team coverage.
Bad: Run game, penalties, interceptions.
Ugly: Run blocking, dropped balls, the win

The good: defense and special teams.

The bad: the O-line.

The ugly: Marc Trestman - this guy has never been a good coordinator. I'm sure Ozzie knew that. Believe it or not, Ozzie played under this guy in 1989, as he was the offensive coordinator for the Browns that year. The Browns, somewhat like the Ravens, had a good defense but the offense was pretty bad.  He was fired the following off season.

49ers hired him in 1995, and he was so bad that they had to bring Bill Walsh out of retirement to help him coordinate the offense.

On the positive side, if switching Tavon Young for Shareece Wright, Urschel and Jensen for Lewis and Zuttah and Dixon for Forsett work out, this is a Super Bowl team.

Heres the unfortunate truth about Forsett.

1. He would have never been a Raven if the Rice debacle didn't happen.

2. He was brought in on the cheap as an insurance policy because he knew Kubiak's system

3. Kubiaks system has made a lot of backs look great...Olandis Gary anyone?

4. At this point..given Forsetts career prior to coming here, last season(before his injury) and thus far this season..I think 2014 was an outlier for him. Kubiak had a lot to do with our success running the ball that season. He's not a "feature" running back.

I think all hope for the running game lies in Allen and Dixon.

Random. Thoughts On this game..

Hard fought win on the road against a team that was desperate to avoid going 0-3.

Defense gave up 17 points on the road, and closed it out at the end when it was on the line. I'll take that. Wright got picked on a little bit, but otherwise We pretty much held their receivers in check.

The Ravens are in the WIN column

The good: the linebackers. Eric weddle. Tucker and special teams besides Hester.

The bad: our inability to put up touchdowns. Run blocking. Forsett period.

The ugly: our coaching staff! Under harbaugh there seems to be a trend of always playing down to our opponents. And always trying to play the clock no matter how little our lead is. We were up by 2 before the jags took the lead and we came out running it quite a bit in the fourth like we were comfortable. Wasn't working even a little bit. And of course dean pees as always trued soft zone coverage at that time trying to protect a 2 point lead but thank God he stopped. Maybe only because the jags finally took the lead. And trestman was terrible not utilizing the middle of the field at all and the play calling was a joke.

eh, Ramsey, I doubt Smith cares.

I will say that Smitty needs to chill on the after the play crap. The league is looking to get rid of it and he's gonna cost us down the road if he doesn't stop.

Yea that after the play crap needs to stop, especially from a veteran like SSr

West should've been given more carries. 4.5YPC, I know that may be inflated by his somewhat big run and 10 carries but Forsett doesn't have much to offer. Doesn't expose gaps at all and gets tossed like a rag doll. Sometimes you just have to break tackles and Forsett doesn't do that anymore.
