The Good, The Bad and the Awful against the Jags

Jernigan was the MVP today. A sack, two pass deflections, one that stopped a Jags drive that was deep in Ravens territory. Hell of a game.

The light has come on for him.  I distinctly remember one play where 2 blockers were engaged and he still knifed right through the middle of the both of them to create some pressure.

Stanley wasn't good either all day.

But there's 0 chance we're going to bench Stanley, with Urschel and Jensen we have a prayer of fixing the interior of our line, Stanley has been solid but he's obviously going to have his growing pains, we don't have nayone else who can take over for him and perform half as well.

Let's just hope he can keep that up, about time this guy has a breakout season

Stanley did not have a good game last week. I'm not sure what game you watched but he simply didn't. He may have not let up a sack, but that is not the only measure of having a good game as an O lineman.

Some of the people who actually grade players, including many of the measurements that don't involve just letting up sacks, gave Stanley pretty positive grades for last weeks game.

Your opinion isn't really meshing with what actual game film is saying...

I hesitate to give him the MVP because it seemed he was completely non existent until the 4th quarter. I mean his clutch plays at the end very well could have sealed this game for us if we had good play calling but shouldn't MVP go to somewhat who showed up all game?

The ugly= the win

The bad = the consistency of our offense, can't string together anything close to being consistent for 3 or 4 quarters.

The good= defense might be legit, turnovers are coming to us, Jernigan may actually be bull wearing human skin,

The godly= The Tucker, may we be bathed in the glory of his holy foot, seriously starting to think his new contract is at bargin basement pricing for as clutch as he is for this team

Peas called a great game. I thought Allen Robinson didn't play as good as people say he did, yeah he got those two TDs but outside of that he didn't cross 100. Didn't totally destroy us. I didn't see Hurns much too.

Still need a boost from the edge rushers, too.  Hopefully Dumervil provides that spark when he returns.  A lot of our pressure still looks to be manufactured.  We need more consistency from the 4 man rush.

Still trying to figure out exactly why people think Flacco had a bad game. Were you guys actually watching the entire game, or did some of you just tune in after the 3rd quarter?

I couldn't name a single offensive player that played better than him in the 1st half, and maybe even in the 1st 3 quarters.

Agree. He burned Wright on a couple TDs, but otherwise, I thought we did well on him regardless of who was covering him.

I would say Pees had a fine game, if he had had Jimmy shadow Robinson from the start then we might have been able to stop those TDs, there's no reason WRight should have ever been 1 on 1 with him, especially in the red zone.

The offensive play calling is my biggest issue right now.  There's a part of me that knows exactly what Trestman is going to do (not a good thing...), and another half of me that has no clue what he's doing (also not a good thing).

This, exactly.

I think the reason the D has so much trouble with the opponents crossing routes, is because they never see them in practice, as they are not in our offensive playbook

Hopefully he can become our version of Atkins/McCoy - just a game-wrecking interior DLman that teams have to plan around. It's nice to be deep at DL, but if we can have another legit superstar emerge that'd be incredible.

Totally. Suggs came on in the end but he was getting taken care of by Joekel. We need more from Za'Darius because I didn't see much of him.

I don't usually like scream fire people without some substance behind it.  But my goodness the offense has looked awful to start this season outside of a few patches. The run game is atrocious, I don't know if it's the packages, o-line, or poor vision and effort from backs but it's broken!

Im not sure who would call plays if Trestman were fired but the offense has no fluidity.  Even the first drive of every game is horrible and that's usually when plays are scripted to get a rhythm.

To bad they couldn't get Kyle shanahan ( although not Kubiak at least familiar with some of the offensive principles. ).

Pete Carmichael ( under Sean Payton )

That or swap out Wright for Tavon Young

1. Defense looks fast and aggressive. I love it. We really need to do something about Wright though. QB's will continue to exploit him. Adjustments need to be considered.

2. Tucker is a stud. No more needs to be said.

3. Forsett seems done. Can't break tackles. Seems to have lost his burst.

4. Not worried about Perriman. It's only his third game. I think his hands will improve.

5. Mosley and Orr are refreshing to watch. Fast and athletic.

6. Not overly worried about the offensive line. Young players who will continue to get better. Rookie mishaps are expected. Flacco needs to get the ball out much quicker.

7. We are finding ways to win.... and after last season, thats HUGE.

You'd think that even if we are bad at running the ball we'd atleast have a fluke game where we ran well or at the very least a fluke play that went for 35/40 or more. This team can do absolutely nothing on the ground. It's astonishing.

Outside of a couple of plays in quarters 1-3, Suggs was pretty much a total non-factor.  We really need him to pick it up.  The good thing is that we see the flashes here and there to show that he does still have some juice left.

The good..... D, special teams(other than Hester....ugghhhh) and the continuing to surprise, Tavon Young.

The bad.... O line

The awful.... O line.  We're not going anywhere without some serious improvement here. Just a piss poor performance from all.

Good: Defense held it together.

Bad: Special teams besides Tucker and FG block team.

Ugly: The fake fans in the Game Thread! Sickening how they're always talking crap about the team stating "we're gonna lose or we suck" and then they're the first ones to "who-hoo" when we pull out the win.

Here's the bad:

1) Jeremy Zutah- he needs to go and let Jenson start.

2) Lack of Passrushing- we really wasn't getting any pressure on Bortles until the last drive.

3) Lack of running game- it needs work

4)Secondary play- l think the Ravens should give Tavon a shot and put Wright in the slot. I like what l see from him.

5) Getting to faster starts, and end the game by score the touchdown.

Here's the good:

1) Win- that's all that matters.

2) Special Teams: ?

3) Finally getting Turnovers. The play we did see last year.

But in the end, the win matters so l'm happy. 3-0 yes. ?

My biggest concern so far, even though we are 3-0, is our run blocking. This O line will have to get better. Forsett does not have that "I want it bad" look. Can someone tell me where Buck Allen is? Is he hurt?

Lastly, I whole heartedly own up to my "should Jimmy be benched" thread. Yeah, it was dumb. Real dumb. I would say that I meant Sharice Wright, but ....nahhhh.

Yeah, if it weren't for those two TDs we would be giving Wright praise today because Allen Robinson is no joke. He's a stud and I wouldn't bat an eye if someone says he's a top 5 WR.

The Good: Defense played well overall.  Tough when you are on the field the whole second half.  The Linebacking play was nothing short of amazing all game.

The Bad: Marc Trestman is clinically insane.  I have never seen somebody call more stupid plays a game in my life.  How many times are we going to throw a 2 yard pass into triple coverage with no chance to move the ball further on third/fourth and 3.  Either something is actually mentally wrong with him, or he is betting on these games and trying to keep them close.  Never has a coach put his players in worse situations to win a game.  So much talent squandered.

Shareece was getting picked on all game.

The Awful: The Browns.  Good lord.  How do they find so many ways to lose a game.  It's a new heartbreaking experience every week for that fanbase.

Well the GOOD is that we won, somehow.  The Bad is that I was so scarred during the game that I can't remember the rest of the game other than Bortles' last INT.

GO RAVENS!

yes were 3-0 but if we do make it to the playoffs were going to bodied with the nonexistant running game and a somewhat struggling passing (even tho joe hit 21 completions in a row) once the jaguars adjusted in the second half. Something has to be done imo

Marty Mornhinweg, I guess. The Eagles offense was pretty good under him but I don't know how much of that was Andy Reid.

Although he leaves a lot to be desired as a runner, I would like to see Buck Allen activated next week to play some of these passing downs, assuming Dixon is still in recovery of course.  West isn't much of a factor in the passing game and Forsett just isn't making anything happen.  We aren't using Juice much either, and we know Flacco likes throwing to guys coming out of the backfield.  It'd be nice to have that threat out of the backfield again.
