The Good, The Bad and the Awful against the Jags

453 posts in this topic

I said I'll still be thrilled if we win ugly, and there's no reason for me to change that.

Jimmy had a rough day, to put it mildly. Fortunately class is permanent and he has it (like Yanda), so I think he'll be fine going forward. Speaking of Yanda, I hope he only got pulled because of a minor ding and he'll be fine for next week.

The running game is still horrendous, especially between the tackles. Upgrade Zuttah and things should at least improve, and hopefully Dixon coming back adds another improvement. The passing game looked controlled in the first half, but the wheels just seemed to come off in the second for some reason. That'll need to be rectified, but the Raiders' defence as a whole has been pretty rubbish so far this season so hopefully that proves to be what the doctor ordered.

Defensively we were outstanding against a really talented unit - a couple of drives aside. Pees called a great game again and did well to dial up the pressure on the final drive. It was great to see Suggs starting to show shades of getting back to being a playmaker/leader, and I think Jernigan's emerging as our own Geno Atkins/Gerald McCoy.

Onto Oakland. Let's go 4-0. :D

The run game is SLOWLY improving but it's still not good enough. I think it's time that Canady and Davis start challenging Wright for #2 CB.

Stanley did not have a good game last week. I'm not sure what game you watched but he simply didn't. He may have not let up a sack, but that is not the only measure of having a good game as an O lineman.

Offense is not very good.

Dont understand how we can look so bad against a low level team missing so many starters.

Ravens play down to their level of competition. This is nothing new.

Yea and Ronnie Stanley had his first really bad game. It's ok though, can't expect him to be perfect. Really excited about the development of the defense...finally getting back to turnovers and hard hits gotta love it.

The offensive play calling is my biggest issue right now.  There's a part of me that knows exactly what Trestman is going to do (not a good thing...), and another half of me that has no clue what he's doing (also not a good thing).

The Good:  Ravens Win!  And JT is awesome.

The Bad:  Ravens try to give the game away time and time again ~ but still win!

The Ugly:  The fans who are quick to give up on the Ravens and demean players on our team.  If I could not accept the team as a group of human beings, and human beings are certain to make mistakes, I would be watching something else on Sunday afternoons.

Minus Wright the defense looks GREAT!

When we made changes sometime after half he didn't play bad at all. I think it's common sense to put Jimmy on Allen Robinson. That's on Pees.

The o-line needs to get better. It's a big liability and is holding this offense back.

Also, what happened to throwing those deep bombs this game? We have Wallace and perriman, there are no excuses for not taking chances deep.

Too many miscommunications b/w flacco and WR/TEs

I was forgiving the first 2 weeks but forsett needs to go. He is slow, cannot make defenders miss in run/pass, and west is better than him at this point.

Perriman needs to start making those easy catches.

Stanley needs to clean up his game and stop getting stupid penalties.

Except for Hester, the ST has been outstanding this season.

I am not worried about the defense because doom will be back next week or the week after. CB2 is the main thing I am concerned with. Wright getting abused all game.

Jernigan has been a revelation this season. Going to be hard to decide b/w him and Williams.

Overall, I think the defense is getting better as the season goes on while the Offense has been regressing (at least by a small margin).

Edit: Tucker is the best player on this team hands down.

If by chance the NFL would give the MVP Award to a Kicker, Justin Tucker would win the award hands down. The only thing that matters is we are 3-0, and once again if this was last season we would have suffered a loss. The one major improvement so far is that we are winning the close games opposed to losing them and that's going to be huge down the stretch when we are battling for the AFC North/Wild Card.

Offensively we have got to get it together, defense is playing outstanding and is the reason we are 3-0 as they have kept us in games so far.

I have one question about today.... Where was Kamar Aiken?

He needs to hit the jugs. His drops are disappointing especially after his 1st catch being pretty good.

After this game Jensen should be a starter at LG or C. The biggest issue with our Oline is Zuttah and Lewis, Lewis is clearly not ready and Zuttah's play has fallen off a cliff.

Stanley got abused again this game. Mostly by Fowler which is depressing because you can't make the argument that he got beat by a veteran. They are both on the same level.

Yea but I'm not too mad he was the number 3 overall pick from the year before for a reason. Hopefully Ronnie learns from it and continues to build on things

Trestman has a lot of work to do. I honestly wouldn't be opposed to benching forsett for Buck. Forsett just isn't effective at all and with the amount of passes thrown to our RBs, Buck would be a lot more effective. He's just a better YAC receiver than Forsett and West. Zuttah continues to be hurt us at the point of attack. No one on offense really played well. Steve did well I guess but we were just force feeding it to him in the second half. Everyone needs to get better in that unit.

Defense: Overall it was a good performance from them. We got to get the pass rush going earlier but our front seven is legit. Secondary did well considering the group of receivers. Tavon Young is going to be a stud. Great pick by Ozzie.

Why can we not:

1) Run the ball

2) Create Mis-matches

3) Run Slants and crosses

4) See any kind of Red zone production

5) See any kind of Creativity

Somebody squashed my offense thread, this is an ongoing problem

I liked the excessive use on play-action without a running game because it worked kinda. But yea, Trestman has yet to impress me since he got here.

Just an awful offensive performance but a win regardless. Thanks you special teams and defense. You came to bail out the offense, Flacco and Trestman.

PFF graded him out as one of the top 5 on offense and Filmstudy gave him a good grade, so maybe you don't know what you're watching

Stanley wasn't good either all day.

Good: Eric Weddle, and Linebackers. Weddle was the Player of the game on defense, and Mosley and Orr were fantastic.

The Bad: Offense in the 2nd half. Jags made adjustments and our offense didn't know how to respond.

Awful? Pass Rush QTR's 1-3.

Great News: Somehow we are fantastic at blocking FGs

Good News: We won

Bad News: We won, so Trestman will remain employed

Jernigan was the MVP today. A sack, two pass deflections, one that stopped a Jags drive that was deep in Ravens territory. Hell of a game.
