Wins are Wins, but against 31st and 32nd Ranked Teams

You might think you're playing bad teams, but it's the beginning of the season and you're playing teams with hope and nothing to lose. The Bills and Browns are not stacked but they're certainly not hapless. Not until we get through with them, anyway.

Not sure why fans complain even when we win; I mean the most important goal is to get to the post season, so it doesn't matter how ugly we win, it is the result of the win, the January ticket......

Lots of team got all the cylinders clicked so early, and as a result they end up wearing out in the end, losing game that they're supposed to win.

Once December comes, our cylinders will all click and we'll roll in the January to February.....

Of course, we have lots of wrinkles to iron out, and as season progresses, we will get better.

Some would then complain that we didn't have a bye or home field advantage, lol

But I agree with ur post

In 2010 and 2011 we went 12 and 4 and made it no further than the AFCCG.  In 2012 we stumbled into the playoffs after losing 4 of our last 5 games.  How many articles were written during the divisional playoff week crowing Peyton Manning and saying the Broncos would blow us out of the water?  There was that "Manning is the Computer" article by Ashley what's her name.  We weren't supposed to even be competitive in the WC round much less win the Superbowl - and yet, we went on an offensive run that maybe 2 or 3 other teams in Superbowl history can say they managed.  We held two of the greatest quarterbacks of all time at bay, and we would have destroyed Denver on the scoreboard if it wasn't for 2 kickoff return touchdowns.  All that matters now is that we probably need 11 wins to guarantee a playoff spot, and the playoffs are where anything can happen.  So who cares if we win the easy games?  We just need to be the best team in January, and there's a long way to go to decide that.  We need to make it to January first, and we'll see then what the Ravens look like.

And after we smite the preseason SB champs JAX and send them to a 0-3 start, then what?

We'll be 3-0; you are what your record says you are; that doesn't only apply when you are having a bad year.

But since we rarely ever blow out teams, and most importantly spread the ball around as well as sticking to the running game... Those fantasy football fans will still think nothing of our team but doesn't bother me at all.

3-0 sounds great to me

The Jets are ranked 27th in the NFL.  The Ravens are ranked 18th.  A win against the Jets is a win against a third-tier team.  It is expected second-tier teams defeat third-tier teams.  It is bothersome in the direction the Ravens are headed in the rankings.  Are the Ravens third-tier?

Why do rankings matter? Did they start picking playoff teams based on fan polls this season and I'm just unaware of it?

Tier-two and Tier-three teams do not make the playoffs.

They do if the division isn't playing up to par. Hence the NFC south a few years ago who put forward a 7-9 playoff team I think it was?

The AFC North is a different story.

Usually that is the case, but not so sure about this year. The. Rowns are the abrowns. The Bengals are 2-4 and have looked BAD.  Pitt is only 4-2 (and VERY likely to be 4-3 after Sunday--plus Ben MIGHT be out 4-6 weeks!  This division is definitely up foe grabs!

First half of season was warm-up.  The real teams rise up early second eight games.

LOL, that's because at the end of the season they just put all the playoff teams in tier 1.

Again, rankings don't matter. Never have had any effect on a teams performance or playoff status.

All WINS are BIG from here on out.  One at a time the Ravens must march forward - do the things the Ravens do best: hit, get the football, and change the numbers upwardly on the scoreboard.

Yea but what if those wins are against low "ranking"  teams?

Tier-1 time: the Ravens must make every play a "Win" and aggregate these wins into victory.  Especially between the ears the Ravens must "Win" with the cleanest game of their season.  Hammer time, no sense in holding back plays.  The Steelers know what is on the line - they would love to make the home team "Purple Peeps", but that is not going to happen.  Steelers dread playing the Ravens and look to take advantage of any Ravens' weaknesses.  A Win is a Win, but against the Steelers - it is everything.

A Tier-1 win is huge for the Ravens. Most impressive was the "never let up" efforts on both sides of the football.  A win is a win, but a win against the Steelers for first place is nothing short of outstanding!

More than winning is how you win.  A smart played game on both sides of ball is needed.  The Browns hit; the Ravens hit harder. Expect turnovers to make a short field for the offense to roll across the goal line.  Every win is a step forward.

The Tier-one win last Thursday night skillfully restored the Ravens' missing swagger.  Ravens have a core of confidence that all dominate teams possess.  The Cowboys will turn the football over frequently on Sunday; restless fans will be calling for 36 year old, Tony Romo. Meanwhile, the Ravens must not hesitate to take the points any way they can get them.  A WIN in Dallas dictates a new playoff vector for the Ravens and a huge momentum boost going into December. Purple blood is flowing strong; leave the nags in Texas, but bring home their saddles!

Some wins are bigger than others; no regular season win is bigger than the one coming this Sunday against the Cowboys.  Ravens know how to hit and they will tag any Dallas player touching the football.  This win is in the true spirit of the game as demonstrated by the Ravens.

Rankings normally matter, but not in this hex game.  Ravens cannot be fooled by the Bangles' stripes; Cincinnati wants to beat Baltimore no matter what the injuries are on their team.  Cincinnati must be swarmed by relentless Ravens' pressure defense.  The offense will score on Sunday, but does not want a shoot-out.  A win is a win that ends the dreams this season for the claw-less Bangles!

A win is a win, even over a 24th ranked team, but when it comes to beating Cincinnati, throw out the rankings and bring in the Champagne - the Ravens break the hex today!
