Who will be the new inactives when Dixon and Dumervil return?

Urban has to be active for ST. He's very good blocking kicks.

In hindsight, absolutely.  I didn't realize that they actual scheme him as the guy to get his hand up to block it.  If that's the case, then he'll be active.

I'm thinking the inactives this week are: Allen, Dixon, Lewis, Henry, Davis, Powers and Judon. With Urschel and Dumervil being active.

Edit: Just heard Stanley's in a walking boot. If that's an issue- Stanley inactive, Judon active.

Isn't Urban a year out from going into contract year as well? Makes me wonder if that is why we drafted Kafausi. Both are giants who can block kicks. I never thought about it before but after seeing the blocked kicks I think a lot of consideration in draft picks goes to that height and length for those defensive linemen I never expected before.

Carter has played the most ST snaps on the team so far.

With Correa being active even when not really playing the first 2 games and his snaps growing in week 3 I think it will only increase from now on.

Correa isn't going to be a healthy scratch. He's the backup in case something happens to Mosley or Orr, and the only decent cover linebacker we have to put in the middle if one of those two go down.

Even Correa plays a lot more on ST than Judon. Judon hasn't played consistent snaps on ST or defense, and he unfortunately lacks a role once Dumervil is back. Correa is also the back up inside backer, so he'll need to be active if Orr or Mosley needs a break.

Taking into account Za'Darius smith's imeptitude as a pass rusher and the fact that doom is only just coming back i'd find a way of keeping judon active.

I don't really think ZDS has been inept, I know he had that injury issue the past few weeks, but even with the injury, ZDS has been getting more snaps than Judon. If there are lingering issues with ZDS they can always make him inactive, but the snap count hasn't reflected that being an issue. Here's the snap count website if you want to browse btw.

from that site Sheldon Price looks expendable. only 12 snaps on ST and no gametime.

Well per Zrebiec price was LP yesterday and DNP today with a thigh issue. Maybe he'll be one of the inactives this week.

The real question is what do we do with Waller after this week? Some would say just PS him but I think he could actually provide a spark to our offense. A guy with his size and speed could be a matchup nightmare if utilized properly... Plus maxx or even crock hasn't done Jack...call me crazy but I think when Dixon comes back its actually possible we might drop Allen to activate Waller.

I will say that PFF has some uses, but there are a lot of flaws with some of it's methodology-- i.e. not accounting for situational football. It's not science/analytics like many people think it is-- it's just analysis by writers. If you're interested, Bleacher Report does the same thing (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2665845-nfl1000-ranking-the-top-1000-players-from-week-3/page/16) and has ZDS ahead of Judon for what it's worth.

I think it's more of a role issue though, most of Judon's snaps have been on passing downs, which are snaps that would go to Dumervil. Based on what we have seen so far, ZDS has been getting more opportunities, so I think it's safe to assume that'll continue unless something happens.

Has anybody heard when Kenneth Dixon is slated for return to full action?

According to Rapoport, he's targeting a week 5 return.

snap count means nothing when the snaps are ineffective. ZDS has been a total nonfactor in the pass rush and its all his fault. he flies off the line with no regard for the pocket or the qb, no intentions of trying to apply any real pressure, he just blows 12 yards into the backfield and runs right out of the play, the tackle doesnt even break a sweat when blocking him.

judon and mclellan absolutely deserve snaps over Z. judon has natural pass rush, ZDS doesnt, judon also has shown great instincts breaking off of a clear path to the qb and sniffing out screens, something you dont typically see from a rookie let alone a small school guy. mclellan holds up better against the run. correa is our coverage backer in the event that mosley or orr get hurt, and he also could very well see more time in 4-3 pressure/cover2 packages.

im not a big waller fan, but i think hes the kind of guy that JUST MAYBE could shake things up enough to get us going. every defense weve faced so far have 1 thing in common... they GIVE US the intermediate and we dont even attempt to do anything with it, we settle for the short game, maybe we only get there fast enough on the outside where its less effective? maybe we dont have the size to work the intermediate in the center of the field? idk, but if waller can abuse an open seam then maybe he needs to see starter snaps, something is not working on offense and the inability to exploit defensive alignments is part of it

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I can definitely take your word for it. I have yet to see a game with decent enough quality to really tell who is who but i was just thinking as far as who is inactive once Dumervil is back. I guess i was right, but I cant confidently claim ZDS is better than Judon.

In my honest opinion I believe that Justin Forsett even though he's been a solid back he'll be either demoted or released because FINALLY next week it will be Kenneth Dixon time. I believe coach Harbaugh and Coach Tresman had to make the move especially when your run offense ranks 26th in the league and Dixon is that guy along with Terrence West that will help improve the run game
