Who will be the new inactives when Dixon and Dumervil return?

87 posts in this topic

When Dixon/Dumervil come back Correa is the obvious choice to be sat down. When Waller comes back, there's a possibility that Williams gets sat down also.

I really don't think the front office wants to see this. Our past two second round pics as being not dressed in game days.

I guess you got to play the best guys. But damn that will not sit well.

Don't know exactly what on schedule means, but I assume this is a good thing.

With Harbaugh it probably means he still has a leg

Yeah he's back, but Stanley is out today for an undisclosed reason.

Thanks. Noticed Stanley a bit slow getting up on two plays against Browns..hopefully resting something minor.

If only we would make forsett the inactive. He has been terrible so far and West and dixon are clearly better.

I'll take those 2 and allen as the 3rd down specialist over forsett any day.

I kinda agree with you. I think Terrance West should start because he's bigger and will give more positive yards than Forsett. On the 4th & 2 play vs the Browns might work if West was doing that play.  But Forsett can be better in passing situations like catch balls in open space.

Yeah it's something minor no worries.

Its an interesting one. I personally would make correa and mclellan inactive but the latter is loved by the staff. He hasnt played well at all so far IMHO and i think we should give carter a bit more of a chance.

I don't think we should inactive McClellan because he's a good special teamer.

He will be starting still when Dumervil comes back. McClellan isn't in any reasonable discussion for gameday inactives.

Correa or Carter most likely becomes inactive.

I don't think Waller immediately becomes a gameday player once he returns. Can definitely see him being a gameday inactive even when he's back. Same with Boyle.

The more important questions are, assuming no other injuries, who the Ravens cut? My guess is we will see injuries by then so most likely just moving another guy to IR.

Yes, both Correa and Williams are causing some concerns. No passing of judgement yet, but in both cases you'd like to see a little more promise. You'd like to see us not have to make up for poor 2nd round picks by either having to expend more future picks or patch the holes with late draft picks or FA bargains.

Right. I have a feeling we could be seeing Williams going to IR if he doesn't show more immediately. Even if we end up with a legitimate serious injury at another position, I'm just not sure that we carry 4 TEs, when we are already barely seeing Williams being involved in the offense.

Well I mean Williams would at least have to have some type of injury for that to happen, but most likely somebody else gets hurt before then.

It's looking like Sheldon Price would be the odd man out at CB, and maybe off the roster when Waller returns, due to his snap counts.  He played only 5 ST snaps, and I can't imagine that's enough to keep a strong hold on an active roster spot.

I always just figured Buck Allen...

He and Price are probably on the thinnest ice, but Powers is interesting too.  I'll be curious to see if he plays this week, but they really like Young and Levine in the slot apparently.

Good chance somebody else will get injured by then, so it will likely resolve itself.

In theory, I'm not 100% sure what value Maxx Williams is adding right now either...

You are right. Maxx hasn't been thrown at period in the first 2 games. So, I think he's a candidate to be inactive if Dixon comes back. I don't anticipate Doom taking Correa's position because of special teams needs. I expect a non-special teams contributor to be inactive then. Just can't think of who.

In theory Correa and Carter are basically the same player in terms of value to the team right now, so one would think both of them wouldn't be active when Doom comes back. Just a matter of preference as to which one.

if it came down to the two I would think they'd lean towards the second round pick for developmental purposes to get some experience under his belt. But the coaches could also lean towards experience. I try not to speculate over it too much BC its pointless to question the coaches- as they see 1000 times more than any of us do and they tend to know what they're doing, whether it looks that way or not.

I don't think Carter is in discussion as an inactive, you don't put a ST guy on the roster then make him inactive on gameday.

Probably going to be someone who has been filling his role: Z Smith or Judon if one hits a wall.

Williams is the best blocker of the bunch. I don't see him sitting.

Dumervil missed practice today after practicing on a limited basis the last 2 days.  Let's hope they just want to rest him and it's not a setback.

Maxx, Urban, and Correa would be my most likely candidates.  Canady or Price could take a seat for Powers at some point, but they seem to like their ST contributions.

Urban has to be active for ST. He's very good blocking kicks.

Yes he is.  He actually practiced last week.
