[News] Ravens' 'Ugly' Win Could Pay Dividends Down The Road

21 posts in this topic

I couldnt be any prouder of our team, yeah blowing teams out would be nice but knowing your team is going to put themselves in the position to win the game is an amazing feeling. We are only going to get better as the year goes on with the team developing chemistry and confidence for the young players. I hope with Flacco going to Trestman and telling him he needs to throw it deep more will finally give Flacco the chance to go back to pushing the Defense back and open up the run game more. We finally have the talent to spread it out and let Flacco run the Offense, lets hope they let him prove his Elite status.

I really didn't think we could overcome a 20pt deficit so I am pretty proud of that, even if I wish we wouldn't need to bite our nails in nearly every game, usually down to the last few seconds before we know if we're going to win or not.
Joe is right, these types of games help toughen you up for later in the year and a win is a win. We're 2-0 and need to keep that rolling. I'm sure we'll get better as the year progresses. The run game needs a serious shot in the arm though and our 2 left side rookies had some schooling as well so I hope we can start to get it moving better in Jacksonville this weekend. Also looking forward to Kenneth Dixon coming back from injury soon. I definitely want to see how he does in a real game because he looked like a monster in pre season.

If given the targets Dixon will be starting a few weeks into is rookie regular season,. His pass catching abilities are incredible and he is great in space or between the tackles.

There are a lot of ways to win in the NFL but coming back from 20 point deficits, on the road, to a division rival is definitely not one of them.
The ability of the Raven's defense to shut out the Browns for three quarters was exceptional and allowed the team a chance to win the game. This performance was so clutch that it has to be encouraging for the team's future. IMO this looks like one of the top defenses in the league and may take them a long way this season.
The offensive line needs to improve their performance. I don't know what the answer is but hopefully it is just taking time for the 2 rookies to get up to speed and for the line to gel as a unit. It is clear that with the return of Pitta and the play of Wallace we have all the play makers that Flacco needs to have a pretty good offense. But he needs protection and a running game to make this an upper level offense.
The addition of Hester and the play of Tucker gives us the best special teams group in the league.
This team has potential for a deep playoff run. Knock on wood when seeing that our injury status is negligible. We have a tough game in Jacksonville this week and I will be glad to eke out a 3 point win.
But there is nothing better than being 2-0 after 2 weeks into the season.

Why does harbs seem ok with the team winning like this? I get a win is a win but there's no good reason to start off every game so slow and allow this many points to be put up against you

C'mon he doesn't mean like that.

Ugly wins are wins no matter what and wins are all that matters in late DEC. I am not impressed with the overall end score. But, we have to keep working at getting to play as a team and on execution. Not very impressed with Trestman's game plans either. RB's continue to run into backs of linemen when they could cut outside for gains in many cases. I hate reading Mike Preston's Monday articles, but he is right most of the time about team play. Just hoping there is improvement each week. If not, an 8-8 season looks about right

Flacco should try stepping up when the game begins. That first interception was thrown into double or triple coverage to a receiver that clearly was not open. Poor performance from him.

Any road game in the NFL is a challenge. Ask Seattle. The game against the Jags will be a war as they realize if they fall to 0-3 it will be tough to recover. Ask the Ravens. I can't believe how many negative comments I read on here. Ravens Fans(?) think we are 0-2. There are only eight teams that are 2-0. We are one of them.

Did you forget about the 302 passing yards and the two TD passes?

On another note about the Browns.....After watching Carson Wentz last night they realized they traded the QB they have been looking for forever. Good news for the AFC North. That's why Cleveland will always be five years away from being five years away.

From the comments here, I guess many of you think that if the Ravens look bad in the first half of every game, but manage to eek out a win and go 16-0, then they should recuse themselves from the postseason because the 16 wins weren't pretty.
