Here's a crazy thought. Wonder if the Browns would trade CB Haden to us for our backup QB Mallett now that their present QB McCowan is prettily badly beat up?

Should've stopped at "crazy thought".

Please amplify.

that would be good trade this way we can bring back josh Johnson.

And a horrific trade for Cleveland, which is why they'd never entertain it.

"Yeah, lets trade a young, talented corner for a backup we could sign off the street anytime we want to". And they're a rebuilding team...

Or, better yet. The Browns could read our message boards, determine that Josh Johnson is as good or even better than Mallett (which is what many people on here think), and the Browns could just trade something far less valuable to the Giants for him. A conditional 7th rounder (or just politely asking) would get it done.

LOL Well, if the the Browns are crazy enough to trade away their best player for a backup than l well say go for it and make it happen. But l extremely doubt it, there's no way they were to trade Haden for Mallett. That would be really stupid for the Browns.

Well, they did sign RG3, didn't they? Not exactly the smartest signing I'd ever heard of.

All right, that call against Pryor was a wimpy call. All the showboating these guys are allowed to do, and, when the guy flips the ball, he gets penalized? Seriously? It has gotten ridiculous.
I just love all this crap about how the Ravens have to figure out how to have a running game. What exactly were the first four preseason games for then?
Harbaugh is still the worst clock manager in football. He calls time outs throughout the second half, leaving his team with none and Cleveland with the ball three minutes left in the game. Does anyone else realize how dumb that is?
Every week the Ravens fabled offense can't get one yard on third and one. When is Harbaugh going to figure out how important that is?
If anyone doubts who the star of the team is, look no further than Justin Tucker. He made his tries while the Cleveland guy didn't. That is what won the game.

lack of a running game is a big problem moving forward. i realize there are growing pains with the all rookie left side but we cannot run on the right side or up the middle as well so it is definitely a blocking scheme issue which must be rectified asap

Why are they doing so many runs from the shotgun formation? This exact same thing happened the last year Caldwell and Rice were on the team, and everybody knew what they were up to. HB draw plays are only going to work so many times in a game before DCs start scheming for them.

And this, despite Trestman's reassurances that he wasn't going to change Kubiak's stretch zone scheme. Did the Ravens coaching staff forget that it took Castillo almost two years to get that thing working with the offensive line? How long are they willing to wait before the O line gets this one right?

Agree on both points, to elaborate even a little more if I may.
Look at the NYG's, where a QB very similar to Joe uses much more clock by playing under center, Half back 2 option sets, I formation, and we even have a Fullback. Ah there it is, Use Juszczyk more, we committed a roster spot. Joe could throw out of that formation quick to either side of the field, drop over the middle, TE, Full back, WR wing, Slant pass and flip pass all come into play ( note we saw one in the game form under center later in the game)

Keep the formation tight, with multiple options along with using the stretch zone less frequently will keep the opposing Defense wondering. This will allow the OL to use strength in numbers. As well simplify different looks ( take a page from the Patriots). Maybe even catch the D with the wrong personnel on the field. (quintessential Belechek)

I have no faith in the replay system if they couldnt tell that Colemans foot was on the line. The moment i seen it on the highlights I knew he was out of bounds, technology is too good these days to miss calls like that..

On another note how terrible were those broadcasters. Whenever they mentioned a player or a unit they were always either the best in the league, top 3 or top 5.

Totally agree! They were the worst! Unfortunately we need a few more wins to gain the respect of networks to start covering us with their better broadcast teams.

Ya, it was one of the only times I've ever heard a broadcaster talk so highly of Flacco, even during the 1st Qtr when he was throwing at feet!

Honestly, the only team that worries me is the bengals, we've struggled mightily to beat them the last few seasons. And we are how the Bengals are to us vs the steelers, They have been struggling to beat us lately. How can a 2-0 team look bad! I keep trying to tell people... what the browns did in the 1st qtr, them nor no other team would be able to duplicate in a season, it was a crazy debacle and they got lucky on plays that went there way, if it was true talent they wouldn't have lost the lead. I think the Jags game will give us a better understanding of the team

Poor clock management at end of game was solely on the players, specifically Forsett and Flacco who are supposed to be veterans. Forsett certainly cost us 40 seconds by running out of bounds, and Flacco can't throw an incompletion when he did. Should have forced the Browns last TO or taken clock time off.

As for the timeouts, they were used mostly in vital spots where conversions were needed, or to avoid a penalty caused by players, not coaches.

You do.

Read above.

Or more importantly, ask yourself how it benefits the Browns at all. Guys like Mallett are a dime a dozen.

So you mean to tell me you rather the Ravens win a game running instead of passing? ! The Browns played the run well but obviously you blame the scheme and the people on the O line which I feel isn't rite! If you don't open up a Defense they will smother our RBs and what more finger pointing smh! I was at the game and even on the replay from ground level when the back cleared the line a LB was rite there so what put Juice in front of the back and just what run run run the boat gently down the field? ! I want my QB to get some "RESPECT" and 4000yds this season you want more running to be satisfied rite? ! Read that T shirt Sizzle had on with Joe picture on it! Nothing but gunslingers in this league but it seems like you want us to go to a gun fight with a knife in our hands! I'm jus sayin!

I wonder if anybody trades for players these days. Seems that only draft picks are traded for players.

We all know how you feel about the passing game- you have let it be known on several occasions. Me personally yes I would rather win a game by running the ball down a teams throat and tiring them out, but hey that's just me. A steady balance of both would be nice too. Can't win games by being one dimensional. A strong running game sets up the play action etc.

If we don't start running the ball effectively it will be a lot harder to pull out wins like this come December.

Lot of ppl on Trestman, but if Moore catches the TD and Pitta doesn't illegal shift, then we're looking at 35 points

Pitta didn't illegal shift. Zutta snapped the ball before Pitta was set. That was solely on Zutta.

As Mink said in his tweet ... why do we have to get good camera angles shown to us AFTER the game is over? Cameras down the goal lines, the end lines and the sidelines should be standard at all games.

What, is the NFL short on funds?

The owners voted it down this past offseason. They would be the ones outlaying the money. It does need to be done!

No reminder needed.

I've said many times before, I'm very pleased with the schedule being soft at the start. We have a number of guys that are trying to come back from devastating injury and a number of new faces that are going to need time to get in sync with the rest of the team. I expected a slow start to the season, but if we can get guys back to 100%, make progress in getting in sync AND pick up Ws along the way ... that works for me.

Haden is one of the best CBs in the NFL. If the Browns have any desire to trade him they'd probably get a first rounder in return or something close to it. Mallet on the other hand is a good backup and if the Ravens wanted to trade him, they probably won't get more than a 6th rounder for him.

To your other post. Teams still trade players but not as often. It's hard to find the right situation with the same valued players that teams are willing to swap. Think of picks as the currency NFL teams use. If I want to get rid of a player I look for the highest hider and take their picks. Then I can go use them to get another player from any other team or just use the picks to draft some.
