[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Cleveland Browns

108 posts in this topic

Obviously happy with the Win..
5 Takeaways) 1. Defense pitched a Shutout after 20pt burst, including 2 pivotal turnovers(Weddles INT, Mosley Game Ending INT)
2) Run Defense?? Where you go!! Unacceptable to allow 100 yrd rusher. The standard in Ravens History is to let up 1, 100 yrd rusher every 30 games or so.
Get that Fixed.
3. Playcalling..Trestman bad..I completely agree with Flacco, who had to go to Trestman to stop the dink&dunk..and let Joe use the weapons and go for chunk plays.
4. Young guys contributing, Judon,Pierce, Z.Smith.
5. Explosive plays...Arrington got burned all day 1 on 1..and next week is the Allen Bros&Juice Thomas.
Arrington better not be outside#24 covering deepthrear wrs.. put Jimmy on 1, Wright on the other, and activate Davis

we can spin this anyway we want to, but I'll tell you this much. Getting down to a Cleveland Browns offense that is really average at best by 20 points in the first quarter is really terrifying. I understand we came back and won the game, but what does it really prove? That we can come back from a deficit and win? Perhaps, but it also tells every other team that you can run big on the Ravens and score 20 points in a quarter too! All in all, I am very disappointed in how we won this game against possibly the worst team in the NFL. People may not like me saying it but it is exactly how I feel. There is an empty feeling despite the win.

Michael Pierce is doing what he's been doing since the first preseason game. The scout who lobbied for him to be signed should get a decent payraise.

Yep

what's up with the play calling? The defense cannot keep going in the hole early in games and allowing 100 yards rushing. We have to get better because the second half of our schedule is brutal. The DC needs to be more aggressive with the rising young studs up front in the making.

How empty would it be if we had lost. I don't think after watching some
of the games today that the Cleveland offense is no where near the worst in the league.

Well enjoy your empty feeling. Al Davis said it best: "just win baby!".

I have been one of his biggest proponents to shine. By season's end he'll be regarded as a force on the D-line. Just watch. Also wouldn't surprise me if this kid has 8 sacks from the middle either.

Curious as to why Joe has to go to Trestman to change the play calling and call more deep passes. Joe got the game plan in mid week. OC's really get stuck on their game plans.

When the playoffs start and the Ravens are playing nobody will remember this game other than it was a W.

After 2 games, that were completely different, i'm not going to hate on 2-0....Bills had 160 yards total offense last week, and then had 393 yards against a Jets defense, and then we allow 387 yards against a division opponent, yet come back from 20 down....This is the N.FL. if people are expecting us to blow teams out week in and week out, will be terribly disappointed.....Bottom line these two wins are games we lost last year, and now things are going our way, and there is no doubt what the deep threats we have on the team have already made a huge difference...And the Defense stood tall when they had to....2-0 is all that matters, we just have to keep improving.....so is it next Sunday yet???

Whobilly? I don't think it tells teams they'll be able to come out and score 20pts on the Ravens. This is only the 2nd game of the season, and all the teams are in a constant state of flux right now, they're all evolving...it's like a moving target to try to nail down any single tendency for a single team. If this were midseason maybe I might be inclined to agree with that statement. It was a pretty win but it shows the character of our team and prepares us for later in the year when the games are more important, should we find ourselves in a situation where we're behind by a couple of TDs, just like Flacco said.

I am really concerned with this Trestman offense. No running game, predictable formations/plays, and not playing well to Flacco's strengths (or weaknesses). Joe still seems to be off, not stepping into throws and holding the ball too long.

Pitching, defense, and the . . . oops, too much channel chasing today. Elated to do a double Bird dance. Composure, special teams, and putting the leather to the opponent spells road win.

I think it is more Harbs trying to force us to be able to run, but if it isn't there, take what the defense gives you....and we did and won...

neither do I. They're much improved than last year.

...it definitely wasn't pretty, but we walked away with the win. Unlike last year when we were in close, late games

1. Ravens are making the plays at key points that they didn't make last year. A key interception, blocked extra-point, sacks, and most importantly avoiding the stupid penalty.

2. Slow start. Missed tackles, dropped balls, Pees leaving guys on an island too often. A slow start to a better team could be a disaster.

3. Trends. Pitta is making an impact. Where would Ravens be without him? Joe is spreading the ball around. The defense is getting to the QB. (ex McCown and Tyrod took a lot of hits). McCown was not the same after Pierce planted him.

4. At some point, the run game needs to be more consistent. Ravens need a power back to slam between the tackles. The run game seems too finest. Pitching outside on 3rd and 2 instead of trying to knock guys off the ball.

5. Mental toughness. Some teams would pack it in 20-0 in the first quarter and some fans blog that the defense sucks . The guys on the other team get paid too. to come back after spotting them 20 points is a sign of strong leadership and character on the team. It start with Joe. He screws up early then still is focused enough to rip them.

Arrington has not played a snap this year because he's been on IR since before the season started.

I think coming back from 20 down is more beneficial than blowing out the Browns. A win like this builds character. It shows that we can stay poised and handle adversity, which is vital for a successful season. A win like this brings the team closer together and helps instill the belief that we can handle difficult situations. Besides one terrible quarter, our defense has given up 7 points in the other 7 quarters, so if other teams think they are just going to be able to quickly run up a 20 point lead against us, I think they are going to be awfully disappointed.

2 big plays was all that made the first quarter for the Browns. What this shows is the Ravens overcame big plays by the opposition. What happens when they go down 14 to NY Giants or Colts...hope fully the same thing.
This is a big game also because it was a conference game. Sure the Ravens have the win loss over the Browns but....even the worst records can beat inter conference teams...so now the Browns will have to look elsewhere for that win.
You must not have watched the game after the first quarter cause if the win disappointed you, you must be one of those who like only safe wins, which don't come in the NFL anymore.

Well, i give the entire team tons of credit for keeping their focus after the death of what i consider a Icon in Ravens history in CB....

All right. Let's see:

Good things:

We're 2-0.
That cannot hurt, can it?

The team deserves all credit for not giving up and not flinching after being knocked down so early.

It shows resilience, determination, belief in themselves, confidence in themselves and the others, and also the calm reaction, lack of panicking... These are treats any team needs to succeed in the NFL.

The great summer investments seem to be money well spent.

Wallace, Weddle, West... Key pieces of the team already. Shout out to the FO.

Great work from the ST.

Week#1 they were the least good of the three legs. This time, they came up big. Hats off.

The D can really turn up the heat. REALLY.

I'm sure the OC's and O-line coaches will see all the sufferings poor McCown had to go through... Pretty impressive performance.

No injuries again, for the second week.

Every single Ravens-fan know damn well how important that is. Especially happy with Pitta.

Genuine turnovers at last.

Maybe all the secondary needed was to get the ice broken. Now it's broken.

Bad things:

RIGHT NOW the Ravens do not look like a playoff team.

May be a bit harsh, especially the 2-0 start, first time in 7 years - but let's be honest folks... we beat two very modest teams most other opponents will also beat quite comfortably - more comfortably than we did. Of course, it's week#2, and the O is admittedly a WIP at the moment - but we'll need a lot more than what we've seen the first two weeks. We are very lucky with the schedule - we could easily be 0-2 if we got two good opponents - like we did last season... But we aren't, and we may have a couple more weeks for the O to find themselves and start producing on a regular basis. We can all see that they have what it takes. Everything is still on the table - in 2012 we had stretches where we looked anything like a playoff team, let alone a SB-winning team... (@ KC then v the Cowboys in back-to back gamnes... both W's, but both painful to watch...) - still the season ended with Ray Lewis hoisting the Lombardi...

Flacco must shake off the fear.

He's obviously not in comfort in the pocket yet... He looked borderline panicked a couple of times...

The O-line must find their pre-seeason form,,, and fast.

They've been the weakest unit these first two games. An that cannot stay that way for long. Flacco needs more freetime in the pocket..

The O needs to be less predicatble. Much less.

The O is starting to look like the good old Cam Cameron O... Way too predictable. If I, the layman, can call so many plays before the snap, anybody can... especially the opposing DC's and players...

RavensBaltimore, all I know is #24 is what I saw get beat on several plays. So maybe they traded numbers..otherwise idk its Arrington. But its unimportant. Whoever got beat..fix it for next week. Competition doesnt get easier

I agree, but it is still so early in the year, the team will get better, and hopefully stay healthy, as over the first two weeks i have seen so many teams lose players, and scrambling the FA market for players, and The Browns might be another team searching for another QB, and possibly center....If we can stay healthy, and hold the fort down until doom gets back we will really get better....The offense i give somewhat a pass, as the passing game is there and the WR are getting open, but the running game will take time, as we must remind ourselves, we have two rookies manning the left side, and possibly getting Urschel paying center could help...but 2-0 sure is nice.....

No running game -- biggest problem. Also, where's Aiken? Should play him.

today was the Pitta show, just no enough balls for Aiken, and i do want him to get some chances as he earned it....
