The Good, Bad and Awful week 2 vs Browns.

402 posts in this topic

The good: The rest of the game after their third scoring drive.

The Bad: The first three drives

The Ugly: The Cleveland Browns.... Only they would blow a 20 point lead.

Like I've always said.. THE BROWNS ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO LOSE

1. Ravens love to play down to the competition

2. Weddle is great

3. Joe is infallible to half of the people on this forum

4. Our run game is BAD

5. Zuttah cannot be our center

6. There's a ref out there who REALLY likes the Ravebs and hates the Browns ("taunting" call)

Fantastic resolve by the team to stay calm and grit it out when things got really ugly really quickly. That's quite literally the stuff of champions.

CJ's quietly having a really good season so far after his sophomore slump, which is encouraging.

And I'll point blank say I was wrong about the run game. I feel better about its resilience than I did after the Bills game. I'd like to see us run left a little more though, and I still think we need to upgrade Zuttah.

I also have to say I quite liked the games called by both coordinators overall.

Onto Jacksonville on a high note.

The running game needs some serious work if we want to go anywhere.  Why we keep calling these pitches instead of running north/south is beyond me.

On the awful side, how about those commentators?  They were horrible.

The 1st quarter was the obvious awful.

The D for the last 3 quarters was the good.

The running game is the obvious bad. Since Trestman took over, our run game has been poo poo.

*We got super lucky with that penalty at the end. You can't say  that he was definitely taunting Webb. I feel for Pryor because we would be livid if that happened to us.

Good: Jernigan, Young, Mosley, Pitta, Wallace, Senior

Bad: O line, run game

Terrible: S. Wright (from best to worst in a week); Trestman play calling 1st half and that last drive with 3 min to go

I'll just say for right now that I'll give credit to the team as whole for coming back after that 1st quarter. That showed heart.

Yeah we went from the c-tier to f-tier in terms of commentators.

Zuttah is just an abomination.

Glad to come out with the win but this entire game was just ugly. Remember that their QB was injured the entire 2nd half & if not for Cleveland shooting themselves in the foot multiple times with injuries, we might not have escaped with the win.

Pass rush seemed improved in the 2nd half but hard to tell if that is legit or due to the injury.

First offensive drive to start the 2nd half was a thing of beauty.

There is still no timing or chemistry between Perriman & Flacco. Nice to have Pitta back.

Trestman's love of the run game, especially 1st down runs, is detrimental to the team. Too many times he tries to get cute with backfield pitches turning short yardage into long yardage.

Pees still played the give 'em the whole field and let them march down it defense which has burned us too many times.

INT to end the game was nice.

How about Pitta? Complete opposite of his last Cleveland game. I also continue to wonder what chasm this team would be in without Justin Tucker and the rest of his "Wolfpack."

Just to echo everyone else, the run game has to get better fast..

I like the aggressiveness of throwing down field. It shows no fear, but Joe needs to place the ball better. Almost every throw that went outside should have been inside and vice versa.

No, our run game is abysmal. Some of it is the o-line but it's no coincidence that it got so bad under Trestman. He doesn't have a reputation for good run games.

Pretty awful start for everyone. The run game, dropped passes, missed tackles, the INT... after that it was pretty good. Cleveland has good receivers and we tested Haden too much. Pierce and Judon played really well for rookies in their 2nd game.

The good: we came back and WON.

The bad: that first quarter

there is no team that makes life as miserable with overly dramatic games than ours. its not even close.

The good : Tucker , Pitta looked great and Jernigan had a few stand out plays.

The bad: tackling, dropped balls, under/over throws.

The ugly : 1st quarter looked like Alabama vs Western Kentucky. You'd swear it was a west coast game at noon the way these guys seemed so uninterested in the game.

Run game, run scheme ( lack thereof ) the running is so ineffective the play action passes aren't getting bit on lol.  Our current run game is Colts 2.0 w/ J.Addai. Shotgun tiptoe sideways occasionally get the 5 yarder.

this was a terrible win. Our oline and run game needs to improve and we need to start out fast. Tackling is still not good enough and we need better CBs. Offensive play calling sometimes is just so bad i cannot comprehend it. The pitch play works for us like 2 times out of 10 and SCREENS NEVER WORK FOR US. Flacco looked better then last week but still needs to be better: he made some really bad throws today. Last of all, if we do this bad against a bad browns team, i don't know our prospects of getting to playoffs because let's be honest, refs gave us that game at the end.

To come from behind after an abysmal first quarter, and then to hold strong and secure the win with a good enough defensive effort on that final drive says a lot. Yes, you can say it was against the Browns, and many things could've definitely gone much better. But this is exactly the kind of game we would've found multiple ways to lose last year, and this year we held strong, so I'll take the W.

First and foremost, the Ravens are 2-0 and tied for first in the AFC North. They fought back against a division rival from 20 down and won.

But to the real issue, we could have lost last week and probably should have this week. We aren't playing playoff teams. Bills will probably be a top 10 pick team and the Browns may very well be top 3 if not 1.

Like I said, we won. That's all that matters. But we just struggled against arguably the worst team in the whole NFL. And that shouldn't sit well with anyone.
